last night we moved the filing cabinet raised bed from the garage to the side garden…
today on this beautiful, mostly sunny, day, I lifted and repositioned a number of the rocks in that area to sit around it… some of them were rather large and heavy, lol… I have collected them from all over Manitoba…
I think the area looks good and plan on filling the raised bed with bits of wood and soil to get it ready for spring…
recently I’ve been on a roll with construction… yesterday I spent time in the garage working on the new filing cabinet raised planter…
I saw something on social media where someone used old filing cabinets to make raised flower beds… seemed like a great idea and I had a four drawer filing cabinet in the basement that needed to be cleaned out…
last week my grandson and his friend removed the drawers – which I still have to empty – and took the cabinet outside…
they put a number of holes in the new bottom to provide drainage… the metal was really thick and it took a while to produce the holes…
it was a very sad brown colour, so he spray painted it a lovely shade of gray and set it inside the garage to cure…
yesterday I dug out various bits and pieces of insulation which I cut to size and put all around the inside… and I knew where all the things I needed were, lol…
now it needs one more coat of paint before moving into the shade garden and getting filled with soil so it will be ready for spring planting…
the space in the garden is all ready… the guys had already removed the old leaking pond and filled that spot in with wood and dirt…
I received my vote by mail ballot at the end of August…
once I knew who was running in my area I filled in the ballot with the first and last name of the person I decided on and filled all of the various envelopes being sure to follow all the directions…
eleven days ago I gave the envelope to my wonderful mail carrier who dropped it into the mail for me…
think I have now voted in all the ways you can, lol… at the polling station, at an advance poll, and now by mail…
learned something new as I went onto Facebook Marketplace and sold a coffee table…
was nervous about the whole process, but after talking with a few people and getting some pointers I jumped in…
I had ordered a lift top table so needed to make room for it…
after I put the table up, many people wanted to buy it… the first two ended up not able to come and get it but the third person offered more than I had asked for and came and picked it up in the evening… others made offers for less and some seemed rude just wanting to pick it up…
the person who arrived was lovely and had been watching for just this type of table…
it had belonged to my parents and has been used in our house until I took it outside for her to check it over…
happy that it has gone to someone who appreciates it;-)…
I’ve spent the last two days building a coffee table… well, putting it together, lol…
I’ve been thinking I would like one where the top lifted so that I could work more easily on my laptop as well as use it to put my plate on when I am eating in the den…
I spotted one a few weeks ago and decided to order it… yesterday, it arrived, in a flat box… it hadn’t said anything about that when I ordered it but I figured this is how it would arrive…
I learned, after about 45 minutes and some YouTube videos, how to change the bit on the cordless drill… I learned that a rubber mallet is a handy tool, and I shouldn’t get rid of it… I learned to read between the lines when following picture directions… I also learned that it isn’t likely going to work out perfectly the first time…
but, after two days, and a lot of putting in and taking out of screws, I have a table that I am very happy with…
I’ve been thinking how my beloved would have had it together in a short time, and also how proud of me he would be…
