this morning, my former neighbour and friend came by, removed the front door, and took it to his house where he replaced the bottom board which had rotted…
we had put a sweep on the bottom of the door and rainwater had been going into it which caused the rot…
we stuck a table in the space, put a chair up against it on the inside, and closed the retractable screen while the door was gone…
I sat and read in the living room as it was a bit nerve racking to not have a door, lol…
and, of course, a meter reader came to the door and I had to call through the table for them to go to the back…
when the door returned a few hours later, a new sweep was put on, screwed in, and caulked so it won’t get water in and should last for as long as I do in the house, lol…
what a blessing to have friends and neighbours who can help deal with some of the issues that take place in the house…
on Tuesday, September 11, the dryer stopped working… they had been here almost exactly a year ago to repair it the last time it stopped working… at that time it needed a belt somewhere in the back…
my grandson took a look and discovered that the belt that goes around the drum had broken… he looked on YouTube and figured he could fix it if we got the part…
I contacted Hameed Appliances Repair by email and asked if we could just get the part or whether they needed to come out to fix it…
they were quick to respond and agreed to drop off the part the following Monday once they received it…
$30 later, and six days without a dryer, the part was delivered to the house…
we were very happy, but when my grandson looked at it he realized it wasn’t the correct belt…
this time he contacted them by phone as I wasn’t sure what was wrong with the one we got, lol…
after a conversation with them, including sending photos, they ordered a different belt and it was delivered on Friday…
as soon as my grandson got home he headed to the dryer and with me holding the top open, and him following a YouTube video, he had it attached in about fifteen minutes…
and it is working perfectly… now he says he is an appliance repair person, lol…
eventually we realized that my description hadn’t been clear enough and they had sent the same belt that was used to repair it the first time…
even though it took quite a while to get it all sorted out, I was pleased that they hadn’t insisted that they needed to come out and fix it;-)…
this afternoon the doorbell rang and it was my neighbour…
he and his helper had come to see if they could fix the two pieces of siding which have been flapping on the side of the house for ages…
he had already moved the plunge tub and wheelbarrow to get to the ladder which hangs on the outside of the garage and then he got right to work…
it took awhile to get both pieces back in place and he had a tool in his hand that I couldn’t quite make out, but after moving the ladder a number of times in both places, he got it done…
I am so happy because now I won’t have to listen to the flapping anymore when it is windy…
after getting the books yesterday, today’s project was to get the JD Robb Excel spreadsheet prepared… it was fun to spend some quality time with the laptop…
once they were entered, I had to sort them in order…
I laid them out by number and then found a place to line them up…
and they fit perfectly on the shelf in the computer room, although it may be an issue to add the rest, lol…
finally made it toGLOBOsapiens Used Bookstore, as a number of friends had told me about it…
took a box full of books that I had read, which have been rattling around in the trunk for weeks, and came home with a box full of books that I have been looking for…
they only take cash and luckily I had some on me… and, because I brought books in, most of the ones I purchased were half price…
I’ve been looking for the JD Robb In Death series for quite some time so was thrilled when I found twenty to add to my library woohoo…
now to add them to my list so I know which ones I have and which ones I still need;-)… and figure out where they are going to go…
