Wednesday was another beautiful day…

put out all the cushions as a dear friend was coming over later in the day, and it always looks so much nicer when they are all set out…

Hilda the Gardener came and weeded and moved a few plants… we had a lovely visit while that was happening…

I climbed into the pond and cleaned the filter which made the waterfall happy;-)…

read a good book and had lunch on the back deck with some of my ripe tomatoes and fresh basil…

had a delightful supper and visit with a friend I haven’t seen for ages and toured the garden with her…

also shared some poppy and morning glory seeds…

drove to Oak Street on Tuesday, just before the rain, to pick up my bouquet subscription…

I took a box that hooked into the seatbelt so that the flowers wouldn’t fall over… it worked perfectly…

such a treat to get fresh flowers every week… and they are lasting very well…

got a few photos as the drops started to fall…

the rain came down really heavy on Tuesday morning…

when I went out to check the garden I saw that one of the tomato plants had been knocked over… I was so shocked I didn’t even get a picture…

thankfully, I had a tomato cage in the garage, and it took a bit of finagling to get it over the plant… apparently it should have happened when the plant was much smaller, lol…

also pleased to see lots of flowers and the beginnings of the cucumbers;-)…

the other day I saw a monarch flying around the garden and laying eggs on the milkweed…

I went to check out the two milkweed plants that are just by the waterfall to see if any eggs had been left there…

and it was there that I discovered this little caterpillar… of course this is the hardest spot to get any pictures, lol…

and I was happy to still see it after the downpour…

there was quite a thunderstorm early Saturday morning…

it was the first day in a long time that I ate breakfast in the house as I’ve been doing a great job of being outside if it isn’t raining…

eventually it was dry enough to spend some time in the garden where I had a bit of a duel with the gray squirrels that have found a way to get to both of the slinky protected bird feeders…

and then, I spent a lovely time watching a monarch flit around the space, landing a number of times on the milkweed and then flitting around some more…

what a treat and how lucky was I to get to enjoy those moments;-)…

went out for lunch on Monday with my BS buddies…

we took a drive in a couple of cars to Teulon for lunch and had a great time at Fry-Day’s… the battered mushrooms are absolutely delightful… we had hoped to eat on the patio but the sky did not cooperate, so it was inside for us…

on our way home I was able to catch a few photos of some sweet horses…

it was the first time I’ve ridden in a hybrid car and it was enjoyable… we stopped and picked up a few fresh veggies and I ended the day with some delicious beet greens…

good times with great people😊…

had a good morning on Tuesday…

listened to house sparrows, chickadees and a few crows… I am just loving the sound ID on the Merlin app…

spotted the wild turkey that had been wandering the street yesterday, thanks to my neighbour knocking on the door…

and apparently the turkey frightened one of the neighbourhood bunnies…

there was no sign of the raccoons and the fish appear happy and all present… one of the biggest ones has been scraped up though… not sure if it was from the raccoon the night before last or from hiding under a rock, sigh…

the red and gray squirrels have been wandering around and threatening one another…

but the sun was out, except for a ten minute shower, and I was able to eat outside…

the clematis along the driveway has been amazing this year…

it had tons of buds on it and has spread very nicely on the trellis…

looked stunning once they all started to open…

it was just beautiful, but the rain and wind have since knocked a lot of flowers off…

had quite the day on Wednesday…

I was dropped off by a friend for a doctor’s appointment and got my 2nd Covid booster…

my grandson picked me up and we ended up with subs for lunch…

we traded vehicles again, so he took back his motorcycle and left me with the car…

spent time in the garden while the house was getting cleaned…

put away the cushions and went in for a nap… slept through a thunderstorm and woke up to a soaking wet garden…

it occurred to me how tired I was when I spent five minutes after napping reaching around for my glasses before realizing I had my contacts in…

realized that I’d left my camera and book on the table on the back deck… and they were both soaked…

once I brought the camera and book in, I set them on towels to dry… the book did fairly well, but when I turned the camera on it was like looking through fog…

I used a baggie and the last of my rice to cover the camera and left it to sit for a few days…

this morning I removed it from the bag and was thrilled to see that there was no more fog… yay…

had a bit of fun on Wednesday afternoon… it had been overcast for most of the morning, but the sun came out after lunch…

drove ~ I still remember how, lol ~ to my friend’s house… she had obtained four milkweed plants for me from her neighbour…

it was very windy, but I spent a delightful time wandering around her space taking photos of flowers…

got my plants, had a quick visit, and headed home…

sat and read for a while and then planted the milkweed around the pond and waterfall…

the spots I’ve chosen should make for good photographs if any monarchs and or babies turn up;-)…

fingers crossed…
