spent the morning in the garden…

we blew out the irrigation system, and put the caps in a clear bag on the side of the fridge so I can see them and remember where they are come spring, lol…

we stacked lawn furniture and got it ready for the tarp which will go over it in the next week or so…

we used the leaf blower to move many of the elm leaves into the flower beds so bugs and other things have a place to over-winter…

we moved flower pots under the deck and into the shed… and took apart the hammock stand to go in there as well…

two umbrellas came down, but because it had rained not long before we started our work, they went into the garage open to dry before making their way to the shelves…

we hooked up one of the bird feeders so I can get to it from the deck once the snow starts…

the pump came out of the bathtub pond and made it into the house, was cleaned and is ready for storage…

phew…

my grandson has got me devoted to Formula 1 car racing…

a few years back, he used my car to drive to a race in Montreal…

often the races are rather early in the day, so sometimes I end up needing a nap on race day…

today I watched a few hours of cars shooting around a racetrack in Austin, Texas…

I am learning more of the nuances during each race and have been having a good time getting questions answered by my own expert, lol…

I think that my beloved would have enjoyed it as well;-)…

it didn’t rain, as the weather report had suggested for Thursday, so I went for a walk…

I went a block further than normal and walked in the opposite direction, lol…

once again I had to take a few detours to check out more Halloween installations…

even got to see a few geese this time…

later, I filled the bird feeders and was able to spend time on the deck reading and noticed many more leaves on the deck…

the temperature has been around 16 or 17 degrees Celsius and I’ve been taking the time to get outside and enjoy;-)…

Wednesday was a slow and bit of a downer day…

had a sore arm and felt kind of achy and just bleh… no doubt the result of the two needles in my arm the previous day…

wasn’t able to sleep and eventually spent time on the deck, wrapped in a blanket, reading…

even had a snack, which was a treat as I’ve been steering clear of extras for a while…

took two walks Tuesday, lol…

first one was my little circle tour… on the way home I had to walk partway down a different street to admire a very large Halloween display, across from a school…

the second was to go to Silver Heights IDA for my covid and flu shots… had to wait a few minutes while others were looked after, but then in a flash, it was done and I was on my way home…

because it was another gorgeous day, our Monday gathering took place on the deck for one last time…

I moved the furniture, swept all the leaves off, cleaned the glass table, and put cushion covers on the chairs…

as I was sweeping the lower deck, it occurred to me that I could have used the leaf blower, lol… oh well, good exercise, lol…

and, we were treated to a freshly baked Bundt cake;-)… yum…

the sun shone and it did cool off a little, but we were very comfortable… what a treat in the middle of October…

Sunday was a beautiful fall day…

we disconnected the hose at the tap, undid the three connections to the pond, irrigation system, and hose (which was then hooked up in the laundry room for the winter)… still have to blow out the irrigation lines…

then I spent quite awhile digging out the three dahlias and repotting the begonia… will see if it will act like a houseplant over the winter…

put the dahlias in an empty pot and will leave them in the garage for a few more days to dry out before relocating them into the basement…

moved pots off the steps and deck… that big pot was interesting to move, but I got it done… once the garage has been tidied up the obelisk will move there…

then I spent a few hours reading in the afternoon sunshine;-)…

happy to have accomplished more of the “w” prep, lol…

went for a walk on Friday… it was lovely out…

first stop was the Little Library I usually stop at… when I was last there, there were only a few books, so I went through some of mine and filled a backpack to drop off…

I also included a couple of the extra bookmarks I made last Christmas…

from there I walked to the Post Office to drop a package in the mail and on my way back stopped into Ultracuts for a haircut…

since my last visit, I may have taken the scissors to my hair a few times, lol… didn’t take long, or really that much hair being snipped, to look tidy again…

as I walked home, I stopped and collected some morning glory seeds from the outside of a fence… these flowers are a lighter purple…

I’ve been watching them for a while, waiting for the pods to be ready for picking;-)…

got lots done;-)…

well, didn’t use those eclipse glasses as the sky was completely filled with clouds all morning…

my daughter in Ottawa, who also had clouds, suggested the viewing was top secret only, lol…

viewing party was cancelled and everyone stayed in their warm houses (it was 9° Celsius) getting other chores taken care of…

will put the glasses away for the next one, which looks to be in April;-)…

looked outside at 5:30 pm to see this, lol…

going to see if these datura seeds will dry on the window ledge as it is getting too cold outside…

these are from the white ones, which amazingly, are my favourite, lol…

hard to tell, but the purple (mauve really) ones are much smaller, but the plants grow like crazy…

so I am hoping they will dry and give me a good number of seeds for next year;-)…

fingers crossed…
