the weather presented a variety of options on Monday… from hot and sunny to rainy, to thunderstorms, we had them all…

after seeing how much rain was possible, I decided to set up for our Monday gathering in the garage…

the motorcycle got moved to the back of the space and chairs and tables were moved in…

I also added the lilacs that my neighbour gave me in the morning as well as some suntea

it was lovely, particularly when the wind blew through the space, and watching and listening to the rain coming down was delightful…

so far the fuchsia, mandevilla, Japanese Maple and most recently, the hibiscus, have made it outside…

the Maple went behind the waterfall and the others have moved into the shade for a few days to acclimatize to the heat and sun;-)… the mandevilla kept getting blown over so it is currently being propped up with chairs…

there is a lot more space in the living and dining rooms, lol…

on Saturday brought out the table and worked on filling the planters that go around the deck…

four of the six were filled with purple and white petunias and alyssum…

the two in the centre have pansies, lobelia and alyssum…

it was fun and I enjoyed the time…

there are still three on the north side that need something… after all these years I still haven’t found just the right plants that live in shade and are happy in a planter…

just possible that I made a mistake when I brought out the morning glories and the dahlia from Lily Stone Gardens and planted them last Saturday…

the wind has been very strong and it has been cool in the evenings…

the dahlia hasn’t been looking at all happy and on Wednesday evening I covered it with sheets hoping to block the wind…

it is still not happy… we shall see…

I was surprised yesterday morning when I looked out the window to see the hammock stand on its back against the planter… clearly the wind had lifted the umbrella and blew it over…

when I went out I saw that the umbrella on the top was perfectly fine so I took it off… the wind has been very strong since Tuesday and may continue for a number of days… a section of the edging had broken right off…

the umbrella went into the garage and I was able to put the stand back up… not going to put the umbrella back on until the weather improves…

now to arrange to have the planter repaired;-)…
