connectors…

spent time in the garden on Monday, even though the temperature was cool…

found the trellis pieces and the connectors for my planters and put them up… was worried for a few minutes because those connectors did seem to be hiding… my neighbour was out and helped me fasten them to the chain link fence so they won’t blow over…

added a bit more soil to each of the nine pots and then planted three of them with peas… apparently they like the cold to get started…

brought out the purchases from last week so they could get a bit of sun and set an alarm to remind me to put them back into the garage before bed…

and then yesterday I found popsicle sticks and made tags so that I can remember what got planted where, lol…

still have to get out there and pop them in…

it is very quiet in the house…

the fish moved outside last week and a few days later I turned off and cleaned out both pumps and left them to dry…

the sound of the pumps has been a constant all winter, much like the grandfather clock, lol…

now it seems as though there is something missing…

happily, I’ve been playing music and the radio a lot on Google Home;-)…

I can listen in each room or on all of them at the same time… like stereo;-)…

self-talk…

I walked to the Park today… first time in I don’t know how long… at least a year, and maybe longer than that…

took a bit of self-talk to get out the door… I am certainly feeling braver on the whole with being around other people, but I haven’t walked any distance for a long time…

so happy that I did it… the streets were clear of water… thank goodness… and there were very few people on the sidewalks and paths…

walking through the forest in the Park always brings me joy… and they have new signs with wonderful quotes along the way…

the trail has been renamed Story Trail and is part of the Indigenous Youth Storytelling Program… what a great idea… the trail has obviously been cleaned up and there was even a hut made with fallen branches… I am hoping that it might be covered with leaves as the summer progresses…

going through the English and Leo Mol Gardens was a bit disappointing, although really, considering the weather, what was I expecting, lol… the gardeners were everywhere raking and cleaning up the spaces, but there were very few blooming things… I saw one tree, a few daffodils and maybe a berginia in a few different locations…

the great news was that it was basically empty so I had ample time to stop and look whenever I wanted…

there were many geese and I did spot a few goslings, which was delightful…

I was a bit tired by the time I made it back to the house, so I had a nap…

although it wasn’t very warm I went out and worked in the garden for an hour or so…

most of that time was spent weaving the Virginia creeper into the lattice along the garage and removing bits that were in the wrong places… it will be interesting to see if this makes any difference to how it looks throughout the summer as I’ve not done this before…

mixed up eggshells and some leaves with the soil that we picked up the other day although I didn’t put it into any planters yet…

moved a floating basket from one pond to the other and added a tiny piece of floating water lily to anchor it… no idea if it will grow in this, but will watch and see…

the sun was out for a portion of the time… I still needed a light jacket, but sure enjoyed being outside;-)…

spent time out and about recently, shopping…

my grandson arrived with breakfast from McDonald’s… and his laundry…

after eating, and getting a load into the washer, we headed out to Rona looking for a repair kit for the hose that goes to the pond…

after a bit of fun there… and a few plants… we moved on to Costco… found more plants…

and some pants, all of which had pockets;-)…

throughout the day the laundry got done and a few projects as well… unfortunately, not the hose as it was smaller than normal hoses…

popped all the plants in the garage for the night for their protection… will bring them out into the sunshine on nice days until time to plant…

using the soil we picked up, I filled the pots in the shade garden so they are ready for veggie seeds…

wonder when that might be…

well, the big excitement is that the fish are now in their summer home…

my grandson didn’t have any difficulty catching them, although he did mention that some of them were fast, lol…

we got some great photos of them sliding into the water…

the water lilies also made it into the pond… this is their third year…

I am pleased that they have overwintered well;-)… hoping they will produce flowers again this summer…

pothole…

a while ago, my grandson called to advise he hit a pothole and it dented the rim and blew the winter tire…

he was able to put on the spare and bring the car here to change to the summer tires…

the bolts on the other three tires were not moving, so after a number of phone calls the car ended up at Birchwood Toyota where the remaining tires were changed and aligned…

Indi always shows her sporty side when she has her summer rims on;-)…

looking good 😊…

the large planter on the deck has been full of water from all the rain… it doesn’t have any drain holes because it was originally a barrel liner…

I dug out the drill and then did a Google search to remind me how to change the bit… after a little experimenting I was able to put in one that would make holes…

dragged the planter so it hung over the edge and drilled a number of holes in it and watched the water pour out…

hopefully, in the next few days I can pop a few of the morning glories into it, along with the obelisk for them to climb up…

not sure if they need it to be warmer, but I can always plant more, lol…

some days those big girl pants are quite comfortable…

today’s lunch was smoked salmon and cream cheese on mini bannock…

I get Bannock in a Box and then bake a couple of them at a time so that I have bread available when I want some… for whatever reason, I do not like fresh bread that has been frozen, unless it is for toast…

Costco has the salmon and it is also frozen…

it only takes a little while for it to thaw… and the packages are good for one serving…

I baked the bannock and when it was cool slathered it with cream cheese and the salmon and sprinkled on a bit of dill…

it was delicious and a wonderful treat…
