I added more silver and white ornaments to the tree and a bit of garland to give it depth, although I don’t like garland on the whole… many of the ornaments marked special Christmas times…

I also hung up some wreaths and brought up a teddy bear from the basement that I have always loved…

I was reminded of many previous Christmas trees and decorations… when my daughter moved away she promised to come home for Christmas and she did for many years… the first year she wasn’t able to come home she sent all of us a dragonfly glittery ornament to put on our trees… since then it has gone on the tree each year… for the rest of the year it is clipped onto a chocolate hanging in the hall… she loves chocolate;-)…

I also hung three wreaths… one I made the year my mom was in palliative care and at the same time my sister-in-law was losing her unborn baby… I spent hours at two different hospitals hand sewing the teddy bears and wreath they went on… amazingly stress filled weeks…

now I think back to those times and find great comfort in the memories;-)…

last night I set my alarm for the first time in ages… Big Brothers and Big Sisters were doing a pickup of donations and I’d been gathering things for weeks…

had to turn on all the lights because it was so dark… went out to sweep off the step but the thin layer of snow was frozen, lol…

I moved all the boxes from the den closet onto the front step… took a while…

then I turned on the motion sensor for the front camera and had a cup of tea while I watched my morning news program…

good thing I got up early because they arrived just after eight…

happy to see things that I no longer need, but are in excellent condition, get to be reused ;-)…

got in a bit of trouble when I mentioned that I had purchased a fuzzy vest…

I was reminded that there are just a few weeks until Christmas and I should not be buying things for myself…

it did remind me of how my beloved would do that and it would really tick me off, sigh…

but it is cozy, and I did need the warmth, lol…

our new process when the kids come by is that they leave whatever they have brought for me on top of the hot tub, while I stand inside the back door…

then I put the items I am sending with them onto the front steps and come into the house and watch out the front window…

they were here today to put the summer tires into the garage, return some mugs and drop off meds for me…

feels safe and also gives me an opportunity to see them;-)…

yesterday I woke up to a world covered in snow… so beautiful, particularly as I didn’t have to go anywhere or should leave the house…

my grandson arrived in the morning to collect Indi’s winter tires and get them put on, and he brought me a beautiful orchid… he works for a store that, as of yesterday morning and the lockdown, couldn’t sell many of their items, so they gave the orchids to staff… such a lovely treat…

just before he left, he shovelled the sidewalk for me… I like to keep it clear for our mail carrier…

I went outside early, cleared the path to the garage, and moved a few chairs and other items, so he would be able to get to the tires without touching anything else… it was nice to see him, even if we didn’t get within 10 feet of each other…

later in the afternoon, I shovelled the deck so that I can get to the feeders I have set up… although, not sure I will be able to obtain sunflower seeds for them now that everything is locked down…

happily for me, the snow was light…

spent a wonderful hour in the living room decorating the Christmas tree…

the fish were swimming around happily and there was Christmas music from Spotify blasting on my Google Home…

I missed my decorating buddy as she always does an amazing job and we have great visits while we are working;-)…

once I was done, I sat and read for quite a while, enjoying the ambiance

today I was so excited when Virginia, my mail carrier, rang the doorbell as she dropped off a parcel… she always rings the bell when she leaves something that doesn’t fit into the mailbox…

it was the wifi cameras I ordered so I could watch the birds at the feeders;-)…

plugged them in, connected them to wifi, and then to the app on my phone… easy peasy;-)…

now to see if I can spot any birds, lol…

had a problem with the fish tank last week…

one of my fish was floating and it was hard to see through the water…

I finally figured out that the tube linking the bottom of the tank with the pump was clogged and they weren’t getting enough air in the water…

managed to get it out, cleaned and reinserted… after a few scary minutes the water started to flow over the edge and it slowly cleared… the rest of the fish were much happier…

I did have a giggle when I realized that the parrot feathers plant had been completely eaten, so I removed it…

today, I had to take the same steps, although the tank was still clear… having the water lilies in the tank are clogging it up more often…

but an easy fix, now I know what to do… maybe I will add this to the calendar and clean it once a week to be sure they stay healthy;-)…

been a hectic day, not the norm around here…

a friend dropped off an item she had picked up for me and we had a short chat… she by her car, and I on the steps with my mask on…

time online on the laptop searching and ordering various things… maybe even some Christmas presents…

had a lovely conversation with my Winnipeg son-in-law who then FaceTimed me and maybe got the timer working, lol… fingers crossed…

and it worked… I had read the directions and tried it a few times before talking with him… he is the timer-whisperer, lol…

also spoke with my Ottawa son-in-law who helped me out with a different issue…

I was on a call and the bell rang… my neighbour brought me a cute little tin filled with fresh baking;-)… woo hoo… and I gave her some books which were needing a new home;-)…

I am now answering the door with a mask on all the time, not that the doorbell rings very often, lol…

final event was a delivery from Save-On-Foods with needed groceries… early in the pandemic, it was taking 2 weeks to get groceries once ordered… then it was down to the next day, but now that we are going back into a more serious lockdown, it is taking 4 or 5 days… so blessed to have this option… now I just need to plan a little further ahead…

certainly the busiest day I’ve had in ages;-)…
