lovely afternoon in the garden…
spotted a new bud coming up on the water lily, even though the first flower barely opened due to the cold weather, sigh…
and then spent a great time with my buddies as we enjoyed the beautiful summer day;-)…

went to a pet store today… big mistake, lol…
came home with three goldfish… a white one with a bright patch of red close to its tail and two gold with black dots all over them…
set them in the pond in their travel bag for nearby an hour… it is fairly cool in the pond with all this cold weather we’ve been having…
once they were released, I spotted this little one and got a quick photo… then they vanished under the bridge… since then, I’ve spotted the white one, but so far not the other two;-)…

getting rather used to using Uber…
Friday, I took three, lol…
I appreciate how quick they are… each one today arrived within two minutes of my ordering the ride…
the cars were clean and the drivers were friendly…
I also appreciate that I know the cost from the beginning and don’t feel any stress if traffic is slow or detours needed…

such small things give me joy;-)…
this morning, on a drive downtown to the dentist’s office, I spotted two different bendy buses;-)…
since I first saw one in Ottawa, while visiting my kids, just seeing one brings me happiness, lol…
great start to the day…

since August 26th, I’ve been watching a water lily flower bud… first noticed it about four inches under the water…
once it reached the water level, it has come up about an inch and then popped back under the water… then it would reemerge and finally it rose about two inches out of the water…
it finally opened on Tuesday, September 2nd, on a very cool, overcast, and windy afternoon… certainly, not a day to sit by the pond😢…
since then it has remained closed up…
hoping the weather turns warm and sunny before it returns below the surface…

went out for le burger week…
started at Kristina’s on Corydon, where we had a Saginaki Lamb burger which we shared…
it was a mix of beef and lamb and was delicious… we ordered fries to go with it and they were also very tasty… the wait staff were efficient and friendly… we even got a piece of cake with our bill…
a lovely atmosphere… hadn’t been there for a long time but will try to get back there again soon…
next, we went to the edge of St. James to Original Joe’s where we shared the Big Pierogski which came with fries…
they brought it on two plates for us, so that was nice…
it was a good burger and we ate every bite, lol… the fries were fine and our server pleasant…
certainly a different vibe, and a bit dark… probably showing my age, 😂… interesting to see the difference between a privately owned restaurant and a chain on the same evening;-)…
we did spend quite some time online, deciding on which burgers we’d like to taste and where we wanted to go…
it was a fun outing and I thoroughly enjoyed it;-)…

the other day a friend took away the fire pit, (which hadn’t been working for ages and was currently living in the shed), to see if he could get it going again…
I had almost put it in the lane to get picked up by someone, but decided to keep it and see if anyone could fix the silly thing…
he brought it back with his propane tank to demonstrate how to light it…
it appears that I wasn’t holding the gas button long enough…
so I added in the glass bits, tried to light it, and it didn’t work, sigh…
next, I moved the glass pieces away from the gas tube and when I tried it again, it worked…
I am a happy camper;-)…

when my beloved’s boyfriend repaired the side gate door, it stuck a bit when closing…
I didn’t mind as it was a way to keep the door open without needing a bungee cord to hold it open…
the other day, when he was helping us transport the plywood for the dining room dresser project, he noticed that it was sticking…
he arrived the next day with his tools, removed the door, and sawed off a little piece…
once he sanded the bottom he reinstalled it and it now opens and closes beautifully…
I am blessed with so many helpers…

I spent a large portion of the day reading in the garden and enjoying the flowers and fish…
as the afternoon progressed I watched the morning glories close up… it reminded me of all the days when I worked and how, by the time I got home, they were all done…
this morning I took a photo of the butterfly bench with a number of blooms on it…
currently the majority of the blooms are the large blue ones with a few smaller purple ones still popping out…
by late this afternoon they had all shrivelled up…
what a treat to be able to enjoy them from start to finish;-)…
