odd weather today… went from cloudy to sunny, to rainy, and back again a number of times… ended with sun shining through the clouds…

the poor morning glories took a beating early on… nearly every time it rained the drops were huge

thinking of my dad today as I took hours to make fresh tomato sauce to go with some spaghetti for supper… I keep buying grape tomatoes to make caprese salad and then never use them all up… he would add all kinds of condiments to add flavour and it always ended up delicious… as I rummaged through the cupboard, I remembered watching him do the same thing, lol…

it turned out great and was a lovely treat as I don’t often have pasta… made some homemade coleslaw to go along with it and have a bit of both for lunch tomorrow;-)…

yesterday I went and had my hair purpled

spent the entire appointment chatting with my stylist ‘s two year old… such fun to visit with little people…

hair came out nice too…

today I went for a pedicure… last night my daughter suggested I step out of the box and go with something other than purple, lol…

so I chose mauve;-)… also had the paraffin treatment…

all prettied up;-)…

having to turn on the bedroom light in the morning, sigh, so I’ve started to use my BeeWi iPhone app to turn off the light when I leave the room…

had a bit of fun with changing the colour of the bulb… nice to play with, but I’m sure it will end up white again, lol…

so far I don’t need to use it to turn the light on when I come upstairs after work:-)… sadly the time is coming when I will need to…

haven’t had any morning glories bloom for the last week…

so this morning I was happy to see two buds, although they weren’t open… I love how they unfurl from a tightly twisted centre…

I figured that they would open and then close before I got home after work…

was very pleased to discover eight blooms in the garden that were still open…

what a lovely surprise

woke up to a text from my daughter in Ottawa sending me some photos and video of a great blue heron

I love them and she spotted this one while having her breakfast at Dows Lake before walking to her office…

a few minutes later I came across this memory on Facebook… two years ago we decided at the last minute to see if we could get a balloon flight… and we made it…

I had booked a trip a few years before just to be able to have an opportunity to fly in a hot air balloon… that time, it took five tries to actually get up into the air, so this was a treat…

lovely way to start the day…

this morning as I was leaving for work I was looking for morning glories amongst the mandevilla…

not a single one, but took some nice pics of the mandevilla covered in raindrops

it poured around five in the morning and that made for some pretty pictures…

sure am missing my camera;(…

yesterday my son-in-law and I came home after supper as he had to work today and I was looking for a quiet day before going back to work…

Sunday started with solo time at the water’s edge…

while we were eating pancakes and bacon one of the Park rangers came by to advise everyone that a momma bear and her two cubs had been spotted nearby and to be sure to clean up their site before heading out for the day… not five minutes later the middle grandson saw them in the campsite across from ours… we jumped into the car, with our breakfast and hollered out the windows to let the other campers know… within a few minutes the bears were gone but it was pretty exciting

then it was off for a day on the water… we’d found a measuring scale for seeing how long the fish are and took it with us…

sadly, only one of us caught anything and the fish were a bit small, lol…

when we got back to the campsite we made a lovely chicken dinner and said farewell to the three who were remaining…

good drive home, a hot tub with the my oldest grandson and son-in-law and then a sleepover at their house…

another beautiful day in paradise…

early this morning I walked down to the beach and got a few great pictures…

in an effort to find a good internet connection I walked down a very narrow trail to get to a spot where there was LTE service

the trail brought back so many memories… all the years we camped at Falcon and Birds Hill and went on many hikes along trails that were just like this one…

at the end of the trail were some pretty rocks which I clearly am not going to be able to take home, sigh…

there are many poplars here and the sound of the wind blowing through them is also a reminder of camping in Birds Hill with friends…

missing my beloved… he would have loved this…

up early and, after the rather long hike to the bathroom, spent some time at the water’s edge… beautiful view as the fog rolled across the still water and I could hear fish jumping just out of sight…

nice way to start the day… tomorrow I might take a chair down to watch the sunrise…

breakfast made on the campfire, followed by fishing, tubing, wakeboarding and kneeboarding…

in amongst all that I had a boat driving lesson and did quite well…

Labour Day long weekend… last camping trip of the year…

three of us grocery shopped, hooked up the trailer, filled up with gas, and hit the road for Opapiskaw…

when we arrived we set up the trailer and fetched the boat from a friend’s seasonal site… the other two arrived a bit later…

we are now working on supper, doing some relaxing and exploring… a few of us played catch and some went for a walk to check out the water… it was so calm…

hope it is like that when we want to go wakeboarding and kneeboarding tomorrow, lol…

trying to figure out how I can take some of the rocks home, although they are a bit big…

now to walk down by the water so I can post this;-)…
