I work with the most amazing group of people…

we are preparing for a big event and it has taken a lot of work…

yesterday colleagues worked in shifts to make sure that every tag was ready…

today, while I worked on lists, everyone else packed bags… besides staff we had a few volunteers who stopped by to help us…

a job that might have taken the entire day was completed inside of three hours… it was lovely to hear the chatter of the crew as they circled the tables getting the work done…

everyone pitches in for whoever needs the help… many times these individuals have surprised me with their ongoing support…

it really is an amazing place…

one of my Advent gifts was a set of flower therapy cards

I have started to choose one each morning, read the information and set it out to look at… also try to think of the words behind it throughout the day…

used to read cards like this on a regular basis… nice to get back into a bit of a routine

today I took three pictures…

the first was of the grocery bill so that I could enter it into the Wally Next App I am currently trying to get used to as the one I was using isn’t available any more, sigh…

the second was of my lunch… not exactly the best meal I’ve organized…

the final one was made up of screenshots from an email that Fitbit sent describing my activities over the last year…

not very many photos… need to start taking more because taking pictures does make me happy

while the kids were here over Christmas they bought me a laundry basket just before they left… actually I found it after dropping them at the airport…

they were doing some laundry and asked if I had a basket… I said no although I do have a hamper in the closet but don’t use it to carry things up and down stairs…

it’s been kind of handy… who knew, lol…

recently was talking with someone about meals…

I find that getting supper organized either in the morning before I leave the house or the night before really helps me stay on track…

if I rush out in the morning without thinking and pulling something out for that night, I end up eating something I shouldn’t, or ordering in… not that ordering in is bad, but it is better if it is part of the plan…

this morning I decided on chicken thighs for dinner and mashed cauliflower and potatoes… took out the meat to defrost and off to work I went…

my weekday breakfast is a green smoothie… that makes it easy to get started in the morning…

I try to plan lunch when I am deciding on dinner, in case I might need extra so I have leftovers to use for another meal…

being prepared is helpful… too bad I can’t be prepared all the time, lol…

today I got an email from MyFitnessPal congratulating me on six years of using the app… I started using this one not too long after I started using my first Fitbit

it is the place where I keep track of my calorie intake… it took a while to figure out how to get the most value from it…

today I also picked up flowers… they make me feel happy and in these darker and busy days put a smile on my face…

and when I got home and walked into the house it smelled wonderful as both of the hyacinth flowers were blooming…

what a treat

recently my son-in-law commented on the kitchen drawer when he went looking for a sharpie…

“looks like George has been back in this drawer”

for many years I blamed my beloved for the mess in that particular drawer… it is the only one that gets into this state…

I know that I cleaned it out after he died so I’m not sure how this happened…

hmmmm… do you have a drawer that collects all the junk…

hissy…

recently I was reminded of my beloved’s hissy fits…

sometimes they were difficult to watch and other times they made me laugh

when I read the definition in Wikipedia it clearly refers to something more serious than the types of hissy fits he, and others that I know, had…

seems to me that the majority of us have some version of a hissy fit occasionallytemper can catch us up in an instant and we can react poorly…

over time I learned to respond with humour and it would often help lift him out of the bad place… didn’t always work, lol…

I try to remember the humour when I feel myself heading into a fit…

started the weekend watching skating as the various teams get ready for the Olympics

on Saturday my son-in-law and two youngest grandsons came over and we went shopping at Costco and Save-On-Foods… I love it when we shop together because there is ample assistance to bring in all the items, lol…

we prepped ribs, baked them and then my son-in-law finished them off on the bbq… supper was delicious with rice, asparagus and Caesar salad…

when they left, the middle grandson stayed behind for a sleepover and we watched some skiing before bed…

this morning we woke up to fresh snow on the ground… snow pants on both of us, we decided to walk to the “A” for breakfast… wasn’t too cold going as the wind was behind us…

after breakfast we walked around Bruce Park to collect poke balls… the wind came up now and again so it was a bit chilly on the way home…

he shovelled and then helped me package up meat for the freezer… then we put away the last of the Christmas decorations

he was picked up around noon and then I went back to watching sports and napping for the remainder of the day…
