been thinking about the various bits of technology I use…

now that it is darker in the morning I am using my BeeWi SmartPad… it is an app that works with a bulb in the lamp in the bedroom…

it means I can turn the light on and off from my phone… very handy when going into or out of the bedroom in the dark…

attended a workshop on Saturday on learning to code… during the session, over a thousand people across the country were all trying to work in a single document… although it was planned for, unfortunately, this jammed up the system… it was very impressive to watch the facilitator and mentors problem solve on the fly, never giving up as they tried idea after idea and worked together to overcome the problem…

texts and emails were flying across the country and around the room as they worked…

technology can be such a wonderful addition to our daily lives, but can also be disruptive… always fun to figure out which it will be on any particular day, lol…

mostly a quiet day, except when I went out to grocery shop and run a few errands…

it rained on and off the whole day…

was chilly too… the late blooming hibiscus doesn’t seem to be minding the colder weather…

had been planning to pick up some flowers but instead picked up this water bottle which jumped right off the shelf into my cart:-)… and it was on sale, so I really had no choice, lol…

my grandsons came for dinner and we had a good time… dad was working and mom was home sick… they helped get supper ready and with clean up…

a minute ago the oldest was being born… now the three of them come and visit on their own… time flies crazy fast;-)…

purple was top of mind all day yesterday…

spotted a number of purple things during my walk in the Gardens… as well as my little buddy, who had a lovely purple top and socks, lol…

after lunch with my friend and her sweetie I headed out to get my hair purpled… I noticed there is a lot of purple in my hairdresser’s studio as I took a last shot of the before, lol…

it hasn’t had any purple in it since before I went away, and a number of people have pointed it out, so I am very happy to have it done…

then it was off to watch some volleyball… apparently last year at the same time I was at the same tournament… the school has lots of purple in the halls, which is fun…

the boys played well and my grandson did a particularly great job with his serves… he is graduating this year, so likely we won’t be attending this tournament again… and I finally figured out how to get there, lol…

happy to be able to participate in special times, whether with friends or family…

had a spectacular Friday off…

woke up later than normal (which in itself, is a treat) to sunshine and warm temperatures…

and lots of blooming flowers… what a treat…

out for a walk around the English and Leo Mol Gardens…

must have spent ten minutes watching all the painted ladies flitting about in the sunlight…

then lunch at The Park Cafe with a special friend and her baby…

and that was just the morning;-)…

first thing this morning the sky was amazing…

then I went out and took a quick spin around the garden… got a few shots of flowers, although they are getting a bit irritated with the cold temperatures early in the morning…

and tonight, the same view out the back window…

still thinking of my beloved

took this shot of the fish in the pond this morning…

the pond looks different now, but he loved working in all of them… through winter he would make sure the fish were cozy in their condo in the house, and it was always exciting when it was time to move out to the pond… often he would have little helpers to assist with the transfer…

over the last while one of my colleagues has been sharing updates on her orchids… this morning she brought the small one to my desk to show me the newest blossom…

George often brought orchids into the office … one of his colleagues who worked in the seasonal area would let him know when a new batch of orchids had arrived and say you better get some for your wife

and he would, and bring them to the office as well… this is one of those he brought in and my colleague has looked after it beautifully… think this is the third time since he died that it has bloomed… another larger one is nearly ready to bloom under her amazing orchid fingers…

usually I only use my own photos, but tonight another colleague sent me two of the above shots that show the bloom…

what wonderful memories… I have been truly blessed

been missing my beloved a lot lately…

tonight as I was looking through photos I came across a few that reminded me of him…

this picture of maple leaves, which I took while visiting Cyndi in Ottawa reminded me of a great photo we took in Courtenay of him holding a ginormous maple leaf as we were walking through Cathedral Grove

on Saturday I turned on the in-floor heating because it is getting cooler… I can remember George installing it in 2009 when we renovated the bathroom… at the time we decided not to put an additional piece of it in front of the sink, thinking it would radiate over… not, lol…

this morning glory reminded me of my 2010 six week stint in the hospital where he brought me photos every day of one of the morning glories that were blooming…

tonight a contractor came by to fix a couple of holes in the bedroom ceiling… George would have fixed that…

and finally, this rose, blooming in the garden… I cannot even guesstimate how many roses he brought me in our life together…

I truly have been blessed over the years… and even now as I am able to enjoy these wonderful memories

stayed home to rest and recover from this silly cold and plugged ear…

looking out the bedroom window I noticed a wasp on the outside… tried to get a picture but that apparently scared it…

I went outside once to take a few pictures of the hibiscus and discovered another wasp on it…

happy with the pictures…

did eventually get one of the hibiscus flower, lol…

yesterday I did very little as I am dealing with a cold which has invaded my ear and made me rather dizzy

the only thing I managed was to make some chicken soup

didn’t even get out of my nightie… had some fun using the 10 second timer to take the picture on my iPhone, lol… thankfully no one came to the door…

had enough to fill 3 containers with plain soup and then made my mom’s dumpling recipe to go in the remainder of the soup…

one bowlful for my supper and a container which I had for lunch today…

my Friday night supper from SkipTheDishes worked for 3 meals… supper, part of my breakfast, and then lunch;-)…

really happy that I did that because the weekend has been very low key…

got to enjoy a few treasures today…

this morning had my first taste of Michael’s Dolce Raspberry Chocolate Jam... oh my, it is delicious;-)… made with Hummingbird Chocolate… and it has very little sugar;-)… we picked it up when we visited the Hummingbird shop…

enjoyed it with tea in my new mug from The Windmill of Provence which I found at the Kingston Public Market, just a few weeks ago…

later in the day I had some Labooko 100% cacao bar from Zotter Chocolates

this picture shows it with a beautiful piece of amethyst that I discovered in Kingston as well…
