been enjoying the colours of the leaves and trees everywhere

took a few pictures over the last few days… beautiful orange on elms on my street and the gorgeous gold on trees in the Millennium Library Park by the office…

and this lovely collection of leaves beside Shadow this morning… the crunching sound is so cool…

I’ve also noticed a number of trees that were stunning last week and are bare now…

had some fun with recipes the last few days…

got this from a colleague… she makes the best scones and I am always asking for them so the other day she gave me the recipe… it was written on a recipe card by her mom…

had to call her a few times to clarify what to do, lol… pulled out my Purity cookbook to review steps…my BS buddies came by and they were able to provide a few more bits of info… baked them at 450 instead of the 400 noted on the card… they came out great… so busy I never even got a picture of them other than this one which I ate with the amazing chocolate raspberry jam that we picked up when I was in southern Ontario…

we talked about how often those older recipes didn’t provide much direction, lol…

today I made coleslaw from a recipe I received from a matriarch of the church over thirty years ago… the recipe is written for a huge crowd…

it has been reduced down a number of times, and when I make it now it is certainly way smaller…

came out fabulous, as always…

took a few minutes to enjoy this sunset last night…

feels as though life has been going by so quickly that I haven’t taken the time to enjoy those special moments as they happen…

have had a very intense few days so it felt timely tonight as I spent a few minutes checking out this cool sky

Saturday was my work anniversary so over the weekend I prepared notes and organized roses for my colleagues…

here are the flowers as I brought them home from the florist and kept them standing up so they would be in good condition this morning when I set them out for everyone to choose which one they would like… using the seatbelt to keep them upright works perfectly…

the funniest thing was that when I took the picture in the kitchen I noticed the red on the side of the fridge… it was my lunch bag, which has been missing for about a week and was exactly where it should have been, but not one of the places throughout the house, car and office where I searched, lol…

I took a few pictures of the roses in different offices…

lovely to walk around and see flowers everywhere

full day… my grandson came over and worked in the yard for me… then we ran out and did a few errands…

as we left the driveway, got this shot of the Virginia creeper growing alongside the house…

the red is vibrant against the green on the cedar…

returned home and my daughter and the two younger boys arrived and we headed out for more shopping… this time to IKEA… it always amazes me how much time can get eaten up in that store, lol…

had a roast planned for dinner but as we left the store there wasn’t going to be time to cook and eat it before they needed to head home…

so, we ordered Panago pizza… it was delicious along with the salad we made to to go with it…

here’s the newest Chihuly page from my calendar…

omg… October already… how did that happen…

today marks eight years at my current place of employment…

while the girls were small I was able to stay home… it was a special time and we were very lucky to make that work…

so I’ve worked outside the home for the last twenty years or so…

most of that time it has been in the not-for-profit environment…

joining this organization in September of 2009 was a great fit

over the years I have been allowed to reinvent my position and focus on the things that I enjoy and have the skills and interest in…

this doesn’t always happen in the workplace…

I work with an amazing group of people and consider myself very lucky

had some fun with my photos this morning…

needed to get my blood work done for my next doctor’s appointment and took a few pictures of the sunrise as I parked the car…

I always park a good distance from wherever I am going and then get some extra walking in so there is less pressure to get enough exercise…

spotted this lovely tree changing colour as I walked along…

the walk to and from the clinic was very nice on this beautiful day…

the final reminder of my day was this bruise from the blood work…

the technicians suggest that the longer you keep pressure on the spot where the needle was inserted, the smaller the bruise will be…

the sky was filled with clouds at the start and at the end of the day…

although they were the same, they were also completely different

last night there was a sun dog in the sky as we headed to a volleyball game…

it was quite spectacular and very odd as usually we see sun dogs in cold weather…

so much to see when you look up;-)…

well, talk about being spoiled

this morning a colleague brought me homemade Rice Krispie squares… she remembered, from one of our conversations, that this is one of my favourite treats… I had shared how my sister-in-law made a 25 with Rice Krispie cake and those little silver dragees for our twenty fifth anniversary…

my grandson picked me up after work and took me home to their house, where my son-in-law had prepared a lovely dinner…

it is such a treat to have dinner all ready when you get home…

while I was doing the dishes with my middle grandson he asked if I missed grandpa… this was particularly interesting because early in the day I had dissolved into tears after reading a comment that my daughter had put onto social media where she mentioned how much she missed her dad…

I sure do miss my beloved… every day,..

ended the day watching the oldest grandson playing volleyball where I discovered that another colleague’s niece goes to school with my grandson… too funny;-)…

first thing this morning I got a few pictures of the flowers blooming in the garden… happy to see the dahlia amongst the other blooms even in the cooler weather…

and was so excited when I drove up to the house at the end of the day to spot half a dozen flickers searching the front yard for snacks…

pretty good sightings for September 26th…
