went to the Pool, Patio & Spa show with the kids this afternoon… lots of fun things to look at… checked out some barbecues, fire tables and furniture…

trying to figure out how to get this into my backyard

went to The Forks, had a snack and wandered around for a bit… had a chance to see some of the warming huts that had been taken off the River Trail because of the warm weather… did some serious Pokémon hunting while we were there… there are many new ones recently released…

on the way home stopped in at Sport Chek and came out with a new Fitbit… my Flex has lasted three years but the battery is losing its charge more and more quickly… I’d done a whole lot of research online and was ready to make a final decision…

chose the Charge 2, mainly so I could have my watch and Fitbit all in one… and it’s purple… now one wrist will be free for bracelets, although right now it is feeling a bit naked…

I just have to figure out how to work it…

the sky was absolutely stunning this morning on my drive to work… from the moment I turned east until I turned into the parking lot it kept changing…

from pink and gold to blue and mauve the entire time… didn’t have a good spot anywhere along the way to take a picture and I don’t think I could have taken one that would show the actual beauty…

it was a lovely start to Friday

I’ve been giggling since I got home and discovered that the reason the love sign in the window hasn’t looked right is the fact that the o was backwards

was a great chuckle for me and a good start to the long weekend…

been a rough few days… many reasons… waiting on test results… various changes around me… missing my beloved… mental struggles…

tonight I got a beautiful card in the mail…

great timing… needed a bit of a confidence boost

and then I walked by the window and saw this…

there is always beauty out there… sometimes I need a brief reminder…

it is so easy to get caught in a downward spiral of sadness…

for the last few days I’ve been noticing how much light there is in the morning and into the evening…

just yesterday I went down to the basement without needing to turn on a light…

got this lovely shot of the moon when I arrived at the office…

and at the end of the day I caught this beautiful sunset

been thinking about how time goes by so quickly and how important it is to let go of the negative and focus on the light…

continue to work toward focussing on the good… and not letting myself get stuck in the negative…

had my tenth visit to CancerCare yesterday…

have the process down fairly smoothly… I walk over to the hotel that is just a block away from the office and take a cab to the CancerCare building…

much simpler than taking the car and trying to find a parking spot… also saves time…

arrived right on time only to hear that their records had me scheduled for half an hour later… sat down and in just a few minutes I was called…

had the usual weigh in and height measurement and was put into a room… about five minutes later a nurse came in to get the basic info… she asked if I’d come on my own today and if there were any changes to my medical history… I said no, that I’d mentioned my diabetes previously… she says that’s not on your chart… then she asks for my birthdate and says what’s your last name… at which point we realize that there were two of us with the same first name waiting to see one of the doctors…

she left and after quite a long wait one of the doctors came in… it was the doctor who did my surgery and I think this might be the second time I’ve seen her since my actual surgery…

there are four surgeons and you see whoever is working that day…

she asked the usual questions and did the usual exam… she advised that everything looked normal and said she always used those words so that the patients’ know they are doing okay…

she talked about the fact that my next appointment will be my last, at which time I will be released back to my family doctor for yearly follow ups…

a quick walk through HSC and out to the taxi stand where the driver had me sit in the front with him… first time a cab driver has ever offered that option…

he was very friendly and we chatted all the way back to the office…

ten down and one left to go… let’s keep on with the normal

I love holidays…

we celebrated Valentine’s Day as a family last night with our steak and lobster dinner…

the house is decorated… well, the living room and dining room, but that makes me happy…

now I am planning what I will wear to work tomorrow… found something velvety and sparkly and purple-y

think I will take in the tasty heart-shaped muffins…

did I mention that I love holidays…

warmers…

made a Valentine’s Day dinner for my daughter and grandsons… son-in-law was working so he missed out, although he doesn’t love lobster the way the rest of us do…

when the kids arrived, my daughter took me over to the store to pick up the steak for our dinner…

then she went out and barbecued the steak and lobster… it was delicious

one of the giggles we always have around lobster has to do with the butter warmers…

we’ve had ours for around forty years…

no matter which one she has my daughter’s is never hot enough… our current joke is that dad keeps blowing on it and cooling it down…

here she is trying to get hers burning stronger as we sat down to our delicious dinner… everyone else had very hot bubbling butter, lol…

was fun to set the table with a Valentine theme… spent some time at Dollarama picking up a few items, including some little plastic hearts filled with tiny heart candies, which were very popular…

I’d made some heart shaped red berry muffins which were also a hit…

little things like the warmers make me feel my beloved is at the dinner table with us… if he had been here, there would have been flowers on the table as well…

as I’ve been struggling with this cold or almost flu it has reminded me of how great I usually feel…

when I think back to the few times I’ve been seriously ill and gone through tough surgeries… and the slow process to recover and how I would feel a little better each day… and then would eventually get to the place where I was well…

sometimes we forget how much we take good health for granted

next week I have a CancerCare checkup… I think it is my second to last appointment as July will be five years since my cancer surgery

amazing how the time has gone by so quickly…

good reminder that although I’ve felt rough over the last week it is nothing like what I’ve been through before… and I am very blessed on the whole…

thinking of all those in my circles who are struggling with health issues, either their own or their loved ones…

rough day physically… woke up early with a very painful tummy which stayed that way… made it through the day at the office so I’d be there for an afternoon party for a colleague who was leaving…

ate very little because of the stomach stuff so am currently waiting for something to be delivered… I do love SkipTheDishes…

noticed this gorgeous sunset when my grandson and I arrived home… lovely to spend a few minutes enjoying it even when I was feeling sick…

and then my grandson shovelled… he is certainly much faster than his grandpa, lol…

always feel ready for company once everything is cleaned up out there…

was just out for a hot tub and watched the full moon for a long time… did not see any part of the eclipse though, or the comet

missing my beloved who would have looked after me…

been in conversation with a number of people recently over the fact that it is lighter every day… although it is very cold today and has been for a few days everyone is chirpier and seems to have lighter steps…

took a picture as I was leaving the house before eight this morning…

look at that daylight…

ran across to the drugstore and the individuals I passed on the street seemed in better humour as well…

it was overcast for most of the day, but my mood is so much happier with just this little bit of extra light…
