had a lovely lunch at a new restaurant down the street from the office…

met with a good friend and had a great visit while we caught up on our lives…

saw some great pictures of a recent trip and enjoyed a delicious meal…

on my way home after work I picked up bacon to go with the pancakes I made for my dinner for Shrove Tuesday…

last night I dug out the pancake recipe that we’ve used for forty years and sent it off to my daughter, so it was all ready for me tonight… I did add whole wheat flour to the recipe… came out pretty good…

yesterday morning I had a bit of fun taking pictures of the sun rising in the sky…

this is what it looked like at 7:24 as the sun was just peeking out through the trees…

then this as 7:49…

this was the last of the series that I took, at 9:09…

so beautiful and such a change when you look out the window at different times…

it was out for most of the day and even though it was cold and windy it felt great…

that bit of extra light and bright sky makes such a difference in my mood

lovely morning spent going through my new Chihuly book admiring all the gorgeous glass chandeliers and remembering my visits to Seattle and Atlanta…

of all the installations I always lean toward the blue ones… although this mauve one kind of caught my eye…

I’ve followed his work for many years, after being introduced to it by my older daughter…

my first live view of his work was in Seattle on our way home from our Alaskan cruise… it was a stellar way to end the trip and we actually met Dale while we were wandering around Chihuly Garden and Glass

this past June we went to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens for a Chihuly exhibition… my favourite there was the boat and spheres with this goddess…

the book was a lovely treat from a friend who had recently been to a city that had some Chihuly installations and while she was there she had the chance to see a few of the pieces as well…

if you have the opportunity to see any of his work in person I strongly recommend you take the time to check it out…

hot tub has been doing some weird stuff… when I went out a few nights ago it was 100 degrees rather than the normal 103… made for a short hot tub, lol…

as I got home last night it was down to 93 degrees… called the spa people, but of course they were closed… on my way out this morning I checked the temp again and it was back up to 102…

spoke with them this morning and they don’t know what the problem was… bit worrisome, but I will keep my eye on it and if it misbehaves will have to call them to come out and have a look…

tonight it was back to 103… yay…

topped off what seemed like a very long week, although it was only four working days, with a few squares of dark chocolate from Aschenti Cocoa

enjoying my flowers…

been thinking about how blessed I am…

have enough money to be able to go and pick up a few things at the Farmers’ Market if I want…

and so I did today… got some Stak Company soup mix, some micro greens for today’s lunch and a couple of chocolate bars just for me…

my health is good and I am able to get out and about whenever I want… did all that walking downtown on Tuesday with the kids…

was very excited to see the solar lights shining through the snow in the garden…

usually a sign that the sun is getting stronger and it is getting warmer;-)…

I am ready for Spring…

first thing this morning I took a few pictures of my purple tulips

really amazing how flowers make me happy…

also have tulips at my desk at the office… we always buy them in support of the Lung Association Breathe fundraiser…

tonight I made this delicious ChefsPlate Thai Sweet Potato Curry with coconut milk, swiss chard and whole wheat naan bread… it was delicious and also made me happy

I was so excited to start eating it that the bowl was half empty when I remembered to take a picture…

can hardly wait to eat the leftovers;-)…

headed downtown to work this morning planning to go to aquasize at the end of the day…

instead I met up with my daughter,  grandsons and a few friends… we headed over to Portage Place to find dress pants for the oldest who was performing at the Optimists International Band Festival tonight…

then we had supper… the kids had sandwiches from Subway and we adults went to Clay Oven…

we got to the venue just before they played their pieces and then watched their workshop with an adjudicator from Montreal who spoke in French for the whole time…

took a video of both of their songs… but didn’t take a single picture of the whole band, lol…

a wonderful treat to get the opportunity to hear the oldest one’s band…

out for an early morning hot tub and was listening to the squirrels chattering away…

as I looked out into the yard – which didn’t get quite as cleaned up for winter as my beloved would have done – I remembered how the garbage can was damaged by an angry squirrel… George had cleaned out a nest the squirrels had made in the shed… he’d put a ton of peanuts and leaves and various bits of stuffing into the garbage can… a few days later we discovered that the squirrel had chewed through a corner of the can… it is very thick plastic and we couldn’t believe they could actually get through it, lol… and all the peanuts were gone…

was remembering many of the fun times that have taken place in the garden…

headed out to the Formal Gardens at the Park a bit later to get a walk in, and gather some poke balls…

dull sky but warm… lots of puddles to go around…

on the way home stopped at the Tuxedo Safeway and picked up flowers… they looked lovely and perked me right up…

I’d tried to get some at the Madison Safeway yesterday but their supply was decimated from the Valentine’s Day rush…

a restful Louis Riel day…

today the kids came for lunch rather than our usual dinner…

early this week my son-in-law came over and fixed the garage door… he had to put on a new strike plate… he had added a bar in the summer when the door latch wasn’t quite catching…

a week or so ago I heard something fall to the ground but I didn’t see what actually fell and then when I arrived home later I realized that the door wouldn’t stay closed… the bar had fallen off… I texted him and he came by that night on his way home from work…

had thought he might wait until it was light out, but he got it fixed no problem, even though it was dark…

today he cleaned the drain in the bathroom sink… appeared it was filled with my daughters’ hair… took quite a while but eventually he got it fixed and all back together…

his final project was to check out the internet and wi-fi… think he might have got that working better too…

we also spent a lot of time playing Pokémon… twice while they were here one of them ran out to catch Pokémon close by, lol…

the little guy seemed to be doing yoga poses at one point…

my daughter and I spent some time looking at the information about the hotel and city we are going to visit next month… should be fun…

everyone enjoyed the meal… we had ground beef and shrimp tacos… very tasty… and we had a fun visit…

now for some tv…
