reimagined…

recently came across an article which struck a chord… I subscribe to a newsletter which often gives me Pause to think…

this time it led to an article by Richard Leider on reimagining one’s future at any stage in life…

what struck me particularly in this article was the piece about living in the moment…

for the past number of years I have been working hard to be in the moment as often as possible…

sometimes I am very successful and other times, not so much

other points in the article resonated as well…

connecting was one… I have been contemplating retirement, but feel that if I were to stay home I might turn into a hermit, lol… not a good plan… I enjoy what I do as well as the people I do it with… I want to go to work each day and hope to work until I don’t have that feeling anymore…

choice was another… these last three years I have stepped out of my comfort zone many times and done things I never would have imagined… like writing a blog… eating at a restaurant on my own… looking after my home…

Life Reimagined feels like what I’ve been living for the last while, without even knowing…

also made me giggle a bit as much of this is what the ReImagining group I am part of has been doing for over twenty years…

tonight I took a moment to check on my orchid and have a good look at it… it has more blooms and I got a nice shot of it with the fish tank in the background…

worked the late shift today so first thing I walked over to the grocery store to pick up a few items…

really considered taking the car, but knew I needed the exercise…

on my walk I saw a nicely decorated yard…

fun to see it as I was walking by so I could admire all the pieces… was especially taken by the crows, which at first I wasn’t sure were fake, lol…

encouraged me to walk down a different street on my way home to look for other cool places…

been thinking about Halloween and being ready… kids brought me a new candy bowl and I have a box full of chocolate bars…

not so ready with the pumpkin… usually we would have carved three or four pumpkins by now… I don’t even have one to carve… but did notice that there were lots at the grocery store…

hope we have an opportunity to do some carving and decorating…

still have to put out the decorations around the house… usually the boys help me with that too… not as much fun on my own…

will see how ready I am by Saturday, lol…

stirring…

spent some time in the hot tub this morning…

had to put on my water boots and my touque… starting to be cold on the feet and the ears…

a dozen geese flew just over the house in total silence… wonderful view of them…  what a special moment…

as I was sitting there I was thinking of my new spoon

reminded me of going to a family member’s cottage for weekends a number of years ago… George and I were both early risers and he would make coffee with two spoonfuls of sugar and a good dollop of milk… took a while to stir that sugar in, and the sound of the stirring would drive our host, who was trying to sleep in, crazy… got to be a bit of a private joke for us…

hadn’t thought of that for years, lol…

got my pictures printed and put them into two of the squares in the coffee table…

asked one of my grandsons to help me and he had a hard time because he thought they should line up exactly… eventually he gave up on the job and asked his mom to finish… we did have some fun looking at them and remembering the events…

hoping that visitors will also enjoy looking through them…

spent the day around the house…

Saturdays are my usual rest day where I do very little…

today I cleaned out two cupboards in the kitchen… put some of the items in the pass-along pile and added some to a different spot…

packed up all the shells in the living room coffee table and put they away upstairs in the bedroom closet… now, don’t forget where they are, in case I do, lol… still haven’t found my originals which I packed up about a year ago…

had some fun choosing and printing pictures… until I ran out of photo paper… tomorrow going to make a run to Stapes…

watched a number of my PVRed shows in between the bits of work…

finally, spent a bit of time making some soup with pumpkin and acorn squashes… came out pretty good considering I didn’t use any type of recipe…

interesting coloured sky this afternoon…

good day…

yesterday morning the sun was shining on us as we drove to work…

this morning I headed to work early for a dentist appointment… it was dark and raining… proceeded to rain for most of the day… very dull and on top of that the dentist found a cavity

had a rough day with flashbacks to the day George died… three and a half years later and it still stabs at my heart… not really what I want to be remembering and certainly drains my energy…

had a wonderful gabfest with a couple of my dear friends last evening… great to have the opportunity to catch up and spend time together…

I was given this amazing glass spoon, with a tiny bit of purple and turquoise on it… plan to make it my tea spoon so it will get lots of use… it feels amazing…

was recently reminded of how your life can change in an instant… one minute someone is here with you, and the next they are gone, sigh…

was a beautiful sunny day as we arrived at the office… the light was shining on this tree at the corner of the building… lovely colour and the highlights where the sun was shining on it were wonderful

walking by these piles of leaves on my way home reminded me of some fun times with George and the little boys… they spent lots of time raking leaves and jumping and hiding in them…

I particularly think of a day we were at the park and the boys were very little… they decided to gather leaves and spent ages collecting them with grandpa’s help and then getting covered up and popping out of them, to our surprise, lol…

they were so small when he died… the littlest one barely remembers him…

I heard his voice in a short video on Facebook the other day, and was brought to tears… how quickly we forget… it was really a treat to hear him, even if it was painful…

such excellent memories… I have been blessed… we had an amazingly wonderful life together

the sky was lovely yesterday morning…

luckily I was able to take a few pictures as I was the passenger in the car… the colours were very pretty…

a beautiful sky makes me very happy…

when I got home I slept for an hour while my supper was cooking… then, after I ate, I slept through a number of shows and woke up in time to go to bed… and I slept all night… apparently I was really tired…

this orchid is so gorgeous… makes me smile every time I look at it…

on Sunday the kids and I went for dimsum at our favourite place…

it was really busy and we had to wait about half an hour to be seated…

but they have a beautiful salt water tank so we all spent time admiring and checking out the tropical fish…

hard to keep the youngest from putting his fingers on the glass…

the fish are wonderful colours… there are bright blue, yellow, striped, even some purple ones…

this little creature looks like it is made up of feathers

the neon green ends on these are so pretty…

the time flew by as we took turns pointing out different discoveries to one other…

what a wonderful way to spend time together

had a wonderful day… I am really enjoying these every other Mondays off…

keep tripping over the bag full of acorn, spaghetti and delicata squash that we picked up on Sunday…

going to put them into a basket downstairs where it is a little cooler… and I won’t trip over them, lol…

had a wonderful time with this marvellous group of women… meatloaf, bean salad, broccoli, bread and brownies for supper… lots of laughter, sharing and warmth…

as well as reading, thinking and talking about Life is Like a Pot of Soup, we kept checking on the election results and baseball scores, lol…
when I arrived home there was a light waiting to guide me to the back door…

nice to have that welcoming beacon…

and just now, a cute little friend landed beside me…

need to be careful not to squash it…
