cranky…

it was overcast all day…

took this first thing when I was waiting for my ride…

I poured a cup of very hot tea all over myself this morning… heavy pants saved my leg but my foot and sandal got a good splash… red for quite a while but eventually everything dried and my foot felt better…

seemed like I was cranky for the rest of the day…

it was getting dark as we drove up to the house after work… at a few minutes to five… yikes…

started the day with a visit to the dentist for a filling… had a cleaning done a couple of weeks ago…

went very well… probably the most relaxed I’ve been during a procedure for a very long time… not sure if it is because I am getting older, or actually able to relax better, lol…

when I arrived home the cleaners were just finishing up…

love how great it looks once they are done… pictures show what an overcast and dull day it was…

living room is ready for company tonight…

took the time to replace a tile which I broke yesterday when I was getting a bowl down for dinner… I had foolishly put one bowl under another and when I took off the top one, the second one flew out and hit the tile before crashing to the floor…

bits and pieces when I got them out…

lucky for me we had a few spare tiles so it was easy to pick up the bits and put down a new one…

the broken bowl was a beautiful heavy purple and blue one which held the heat nicely, sigh… oh well, it was my own fault…

woke up with a start in the middle of the night… someone was outside yelling… stopped after a couple of minutes, but took a while to get back to sleep…

not sure how I feel about the time change…

the good news is that my new bedside clock changes the time by itself, like my phone and tv… now if my watch would just learn to do that!

the kids picked me up and we went shopping at Costco, where I picked up another few Christmas presents…

then out for dimsum, at my son-in-law’s suggestion… apparently dimsum is growing on him, lol…

the oldest grandson took the bus from home and met us there… and he got a table just as we arrived… although I did miss watching the fish in the saltwater aquarium…

we finished everything on the table… usually we end up with a few things to pack up and bring home… the little boys are eating enough that we don’t need to order rice for them… lots of positive changes…

stopped and shopped at a few more stores and then home…

lovely barbecued steak for supper… kids got a few new CDs onto my phone and then they headed home…

was very happy yesterday to find this new cover for my soap container so I could change it up…

had a sleepover at the kids…

this morning I took a picture out the living room window of the front of their house…

ignore the bloody footprints, lol… so much brighter with the cedar tree down…

and now you can see the beautiful birch tree…

this morning we headed out and about to look at tiles and countertops which was great fun… but now I am rather worn out, lol…

this is the front of the house very early on Friday…

put out some pass-along boxes, yay… having a box on the dining room counter to pop items in has become a great habit… whenever I get a call from an organization who wants to collect stuff I know immediately if I have enough to pass along, so I’m not running around like a crazy person trying to find stuff…

this was the front of the house tonight just before I turned out the lights…

plastic pumpkins looked cute… didn’t have the energy to put out the usual Halloween decorations… not sure what that was about, although it was much more fun to hand out the goodies with George, lol…

ended up with a total of 17 kids… fair amount of candy left which will need to get out of the house so I am not tempted to eat it…

here’s my final Halloween picture… my youngest grandson admiring the pumpkin his mom had carved with a drill… he was really enjoying the process this year…

busy day with lots of fun memories…

we have just spent three hours carving pumpkins…

started with four pumpkins and then friends arrived with two more… I picked up two plastic ones for my house…

guts were yanked out… carving tools were used… everyone worked very hard and had lots of fun expressing their creativity…

the drill came out and not one hissy fit was had…

the work was all done…

hope you are not too scared… Grandpa would have been proud… he had the most fun getting ready for Halloween…

here are the cookies that I took to the office today… brought the rest over to my kids’…

put some out in cute little spider web bags…

fun day…

the lack of light is starting to affect me…

it is dark in the morning when I get up and get ready for work… and gets dark soon after I get home… as well, it was dull and overcast all day…

took this picture of my beautiful orchid and my little pumpkin person that my sister-in-law made for me many years ago…

it was early this morning and the light really wasn’t bright enough to get a good shot…

last night for supper I had chicken with brussel sprouts and potato… very tasty although the brussel sprouts were a bit Cajun… that was a code word in our house for when George burned something, usually on the barbecue, lol…

bit more of that dark, lol…

might be a bit lighter in the mornings for a while as the clocks turn back an hour on Saturday night…

think I must take my SAD light into the office and start using it again…

reimagined…

recently came across an article which struck a chord… I subscribe to a newsletter which often gives me Pause to think…

this time it led to an article by Richard Leider on reimagining one’s future at any stage in life…

what struck me particularly in this article was the piece about living in the moment…

for the past number of years I have been working hard to be in the moment as often as possible…

sometimes I am very successful and other times, not so much

other points in the article resonated as well…

connecting was one… I have been contemplating retirement, but feel that if I were to stay home I might turn into a hermit, lol… not a good plan… I enjoy what I do as well as the people I do it with… I want to go to work each day and hope to work until I don’t have that feeling anymore…

choice was another… these last three years I have stepped out of my comfort zone many times and done things I never would have imagined… like writing a blog… eating at a restaurant on my own… looking after my home…

Life Reimagined feels like what I’ve been living for the last while, without even knowing…

also made me giggle a bit as much of this is what the ReImagining group I am part of has been doing for over twenty years…

tonight I took a moment to check on my orchid and have a good look at it… it has more blooms and I got a nice shot of it with the fish tank in the background…

worked the late shift today so first thing I walked over to the grocery store to pick up a few items…

really considered taking the car, but knew I needed the exercise…

on my walk I saw a nicely decorated yard…

fun to see it as I was walking by so I could admire all the pieces… was especially taken by the crows, which at first I wasn’t sure were fake, lol…

encouraged me to walk down a different street on my way home to look for other cool places…

been thinking about Halloween and being ready… kids brought me a new candy bowl and I have a box full of chocolate bars…

not so ready with the pumpkin… usually we would have carved three or four pumpkins by now… I don’t even have one to carve… but did notice that there were lots at the grocery store…

hope we have an opportunity to do some carving and decorating…

still have to put out the decorations around the house… usually the boys help me with that too… not as much fun on my own…

will see how ready I am by Saturday, lol…

stirring…

spent some time in the hot tub this morning…

had to put on my water boots and my touque… starting to be cold on the feet and the ears…

a dozen geese flew just over the house in total silence… wonderful view of them…  what a special moment…

as I was sitting there I was thinking of my new spoon

reminded me of going to a family member’s cottage for weekends a number of years ago… George and I were both early risers and he would make coffee with two spoonfuls of sugar and a good dollop of milk… took a while to stir that sugar in, and the sound of the stirring would drive our host, who was trying to sleep in, crazy… got to be a bit of a private joke for us…

hadn’t thought of that for years, lol…

got my pictures printed and put them into two of the squares in the coffee table…

asked one of my grandsons to help me and he had a hard time because he thought they should line up exactly… eventually he gave up on the job and asked his mom to finish… we did have some fun looking at them and remembering the events…

hoping that visitors will also enjoy looking through them…
