been a bit of a bug going around… upset stomachs and headaches…

Thursday and Friday I was dealing with the stomach business… Friday I was feeling a bit better…
Saturday the headache started… went into the hot tub early because I was frozen…
ran out to pick up items for Sunday’s  birthday supper for my youngest…
slept for quite a while under lots of covers, and got up thinking I needed to eat, although I wasn’t at all hungry, but felt the need to eat to stay on top of the diabetes…
gathered a simple supper of cheese and veggies and some flavoured water…
next thing, I came to on my back on the floor… my glasses weren’t on my face and there was water and veggies all around me…
was able to get to the living room and called my daughter… she came right over and they found my glasses which were not broken, thank goodness…
they cleaned up the mess in the kitchen and brought up some supper for me…
it was a long night with very little sleep… and, it appears that I landed on my hip because it is sore… 
still had the headache and now my neck was sore, likely from the fall…
no appetite but have been forcing myself to eat…
my son-in-law came by in the afternoon on Sunday and picked up all the ingredients for the supper so they could make it at their place…
thought of my beloved and how he was always there to look after me when I was sick, bringing me whatever I felt like eating or drinking… 
made me think of all my friends who live on their own and have to navigate sickness alone… I really have been blessed…
hoping that I will feel better soon…

had a lovely conversation with a good friend who I haven’t seen for a while… 

she has been helping another friend who was recovering from surgery…

reminded me of when she came and stayed with me after my cancer surgery… for a number of weeks I wasn’t able to lift anything over a couple of pounds…
while she was here she cleaned and cooked lovely treats which encouraged me to eat… she also recorded everything that was in my freezer, and made little bits and pieces to go into the freezer to entice me to eat…
and she went out and found me a kettle that wasn’t too heavy which I could pick up once I was on my own…
  
nearly every time I use it I think of her and how well she looked after me…

while she was here I referred to her as Dobby, the kitchen elf…

I’ve been thinking about that a lot this weekend as I have been under the weather…

how lucky was I…

a few days ago my daughter was texting me about a party she is having tonight…

she always gives great parties… her sister does as well…
she had prepared goodie bags, snacks and decorated her space beautifully… she often has a theme and does a great job of pulling it all together…
I was complimenting her on how well it had come together and she responded with: “Cause my mom taught me to throw a great party!”
I was shocked because it hadn’t ever occurred to me that they had learned this from me…
silly really, because for years we catered and before that we often organized parties for our family and friends… they were usually themed as well…
and, as the girls got older they would help with the prep, and even serving at the event…
not sure why this never occurred to me that my party giving ways wouldn’t have passed on to them, lol…
too funny…

before I left home this morning I wound the clock…

usually I can tell when it needs winding because it starts to ring and chime rather slowly…

  

I try to keep it going most of the time… 

except when my kids are staying here… then, I have to stop it so the chiming doesn’t make them crazy, lol… I don’t hear it at night but for others it is quite disruptive to sleep patterns…

it belonged to my parents and it was one of the things I brought home so it has been on that wall for over twenty five years… guess that’s why I don’t always hear it…

was able to take the time this morning to catch a shot of the sky…

as we were driving to the office this morning we saw three geese circling and then landing in a creek…

Spring is really coming…

the pile of snow in the backyard that I thought was going to need shovelling is almost gone…

took out the recycling and garbage tonight after work… didn’t need a jacket and my feet were fine in sandals as the ground is drying up beautifully…

finally connected with yesterday’s birthday child by text and she will be home tomorrow night…

took a picture of my sand dollar wreath which has been trying to come apart… plan to get some glue and fix it on the weekend…

early this morning, on the way to work, the sky had beautiful pink streaks of clouds… wonderful start to the day…



had an eye appointment at the end of the day… good report, my eyes are in great shape…

walked across to my credit union and put some cheques in… one was for three cents… really, what a waste of time and resources to send someone a cheque for a piddly amount like that… considered not cashing it so it would stay on their books, lol…

last thing I did while I was there was close the Estate account for George… bit of a strange feeling, even though nothing had gone into it for at least a year… another one of those ending pieces…

next, I walked to Polo Park… sunny and fairly warm, with a bit of wind… fair amount of dust blowing around… 

took a cab the rest of the way home…

this is my youngest daughter’s 35th birthday… wasn’t able to talk with her as she is away on vacation and doesn’t have access to any technology… very strange feeling not to be able to spend some time with her on this special day… touch unsettling actually…

over seven thousand footsteps today…

beautiful sliver of moon this morning…



struggled with technology at work… was very happy to head for home at the end of the day…

should have gone to aquasize, but instead walked the last few blocks and had a long nap…

wonderful to walk in my sandals and not be wearing boots…



I wear sandals all winter at work… they are the most comfortable for my feet, so it just makes sense to wear them… often makes my colleagues shudder in December or January to see me with bare toes, as they think I must be cold, but I don’t feel that…

I’ve been trying to figure out where a second pair of my sandals are… not at the front door where they should be… just couldn’t figure it out…

as I was getting organized to head downstairs to walk, it occurred to me that the missing sandals were the ones I put on to walk on the treadmill…

recently read something about how often people like to read blog posts…

lots of opinions but most seemed to only want to read posts a few times a week…

made me wonder if posting every day is a bad thing… should I post less often… does it matter what others think… arghhhhhh…

I do know that a couple of the people I follow can post three or four times a day and sometimes that seems like a lot to me, lol…

I guess everyone has their own ideas…




this morning we received daffodils from the Canadian Cancer Society… it is another organization that we support through purchasing daffodils during March…





such a great time of year when we get flowers every couple of weeks…

and the ground is drying up, there is very little snow left and there is more light every single day…

beautiful day… up fairly early and spent some time going through a closet and deciding what to keep and what could go… have already started another pass me over box… finding I have much more energy… not sure if that is the sunshine or my body recovering from the sugar overload it was dealing with…

warm enough to be able to use the outside tap to top up the hot tub… 

overcast for most of the day, but late this afternoon the sun came out and melted more snow…



this is the last little bit left in the front yard… hoping that next weekend we can do some raking…



chair is on the deck and there is no snow left on it… wasn’t warm enough to sit out but maybe one night this week after work it will be:-)… the ice is gone from the pond and there are only a few places where there is still snow…

while I was filling the hot tub I also filled up one of the bird feeders… the squirrel had gotten into the  bag of sunflowers and eaten quite a bit… lots of shells…

starting to think about the work needed to clean up the garden and where I am going to find some gardening help this year… I would really like to hire someone to help me so that it looks good all season long…

the garage roof looked like diamond studded waffles this morning…



hmmmm, maybe I am focusing a bit too much on food, lol… it was shiny and I do love the glittery look…

shortly after that, the sun came streaming into the main floor TV room… caught a rainbow in the mirror…



headed out for a shopping expedition with a friend… my clothes are hanging off me and even the pants purchased a month ago are too big now…

was out for five hours, went to five stores… found lots of things to try on and came home with bags full of lovely items… a few of them were a bit outside of my comfort zone:-)…



well, I think I am good for clothes for the next while… 

looked out the window to see the snow in the pond was nearly gone, just a bit of ice left…

amazing day… sunshine, warmth, great shopping, lovely lunch…

and lots of shiny objects…

in my circle, shiny objects refer to the things that grab our attention when we are doing something else… things that take away our attention from what we are focussed on…
