been keeping track of my exercise since last April…

have found that I try to get in my goal of 5000 steps most days and been very proud of myself on the days I have gone way over…

got the Fitbit when we were having one of our stepping contests at work and have found it a great way to pay attention to my activity level…

it’s only been since mid January that I started to record my caloric intake thanks to a comment from one of my colleagues…

it is now imperative that I record what I am eating, so having the option to do most of the recording in one place is helpful…

I continue to search for something where I can record the blood sugar readings as well as the food log in a simple manner…

today’s soup was a hit… next time I wouldn’t put the cilantro in until the very end and I would strain out the lemongrass… it was a bit fibrous-y… great flavour and the tofu tasted fine… it was called Tom Kha Gai (Thai coconut soup) and I would happily make it again…

saw the doctor this afternoon… she was pleased with my blood sugar numbers… have lost twenty pounds since the end of November and she is pleased with my exercise regime… I was very excited when she took my blood pressure and it was 120 over 70… woo hoo…

had supper out at the Clay Oven with my son-in-law and picked up a few things at Costco…

trying some different options for an evening snack… tonight I am having an orange and some walnuts… fruit is back on the list of things I can have, yum…

spent the evening gathering the bits and pieces to make tomorrow’s Souper Thursday offering…

saw this recipe on Pinterest and thought it looked like a good possibility…

first time making it and the first time I will do all the cooking at the office in the crockpot…

will be an interesting experiment…

cut up and packaged the various components… had to go online to figure out how to do some of the cutting of ingredients I haven’t used before…

on Saturday the sun shone through the bedroom window for a good portion of the day…

even though I was feeling blue I enjoyed the bright sunlight…

we have been enjoying more sunlight over the last week or so… there are days when the sun shines all day and other days when it is sunny and overcast throughout the day…

got this great shot of the sunlight highlighting a portion of “the installation”, lol…

this afternoon I spent an hour and a half with the dietician that we saw about six or seven years ago just after George was diagnosed with heart problems…

she had been very helpful then and she was equally as helpful today…

I have been researching and consulting with all kinds of people for the last three months as I have moved into this diabetic aspect of my journey…

I had questions and wanted her take on some of the information I have collected…

got lots of answers and up-to-date information… now I have to make a few changes to what I am eating… will start eating more fruit and need to include grains and starches in my diet…

but, on the whole, I’ve been doing a great job… yay me:-)…

and next time I see her I hope to do it at a CancerCare appointment…

not feeling well today… every part of my body is aching… yesterday my neck and shoulders were sore, but today everything hurts…

went out and got groceries and had a nap after everything was put away… didn’t help…

know I’m sick because I had to tidy up the bedroom before climbing into bed… when I feel miserable I always want the bedroom to be organized… luckily it only took a few minutes…

picked up daffodils while I was out and have some of them in the bedroom to help perk up the space…

the sun was shining on them for a portion of the afternoon…

thinking I will go straight to bed after supper and maybe get up around ten or eleven and go out for a hot tub… then back to bed…

this is how the hot tub looked yesterday when I was adding chemicals… it has been very cold but was lovely when I went out last night…

hard day… been on the verge of tears for much of it…

George was very romantic… he always brought me flowers and chocolate on Valentine’s day…

I’ve been thinking back to our last Valentine’s Day… he had picked up a purple jacket that I’d seen at Rona and had been coveting… a single rose, cinnamon heart candies and a mushy card finished up the gift… it was a work day and he had it all organized in the kitchen when I came downstairs…

I keep thinking it will get easier, but not so much today…

for the last two years I have sent flowers to the girls because he always made sure they had a rose that day… last year I cried throughout the whole ordering process… this year I didn’t have any problem making the calls… guess that’s good, lol…

had a quiet day… did a few chores around the house and watched a number of PVRed shows…

had a lovely chocolate strawberry with a cup of tea this afternoon as a treat…

made it through the day and looking forward to a more positive frame of mind tomorrow…

some days those big girl pants are painful…

this morning as I was waiting for my ride I took this picture out the front door…

the sky was much brighter much earlier… very nice…

for a good portion of the day the sun shone through various offices…

tonight when I got home it was light and bright… it was hard to see the TV as the sun streamed through the window…

it is so exciting to see the light lasting longer every day…

the art installation is complete… it was finished on Saturday… we got the last of the twenty-nine framed waterlily photos up… and when I say we, I mean my friend, while I passed the odd thing to her…

she did an amazing job… not only are the pictures even and square, there are stickies in the bottom corners so they stay level, lol…

when I described a wall of water lilies she was thinking it might be a bit, shall we say, boring… now that it is all finished she agrees it was the right choice for me… I love water and the lily flowers too…

every time I walk down the stairs, I see something different…

this one reminds me of a walk through the Leo Mol garden with George in the summer of 2011… the ducks were a complete surprise in the pond… had never seen them before or since…

this one brought back my time at the Butchart Gardens in Victoria with my kids, just before they moved from Vancouver Island… we had been on the cruise to Alaska, and spent time in Seattle… finished off with a wonderful day in the Gardens and had tea at The Empress… so many memories…
