started the morning yesterday with changing out the birthday bouquet…

took the last of the flowers and distributed them into four small posies

one went on the kitchen shelf, one into the bathroom, one sat on the stairs waiting to go to the bedroom, and the last went into the den;-)…

I do love to have flowers everywhere;-)…

two lovely things today…

we went to Canadian Tire for a few things and when we got back to the car, we spotted these two cuties;-)…

reminded me of the two deer that walked down the street on Monday afternoon;-)…

and this was the sky tonight at 9:00 pm…

so exciting to have the light at this time of night….

Wednesday, Hilda the Gardener made her first visit of the season;-)… woohoo…

we had a little chat and discussed the plan for this summer’s garden and then she worked away at cleaning up the beds…

all of them look great now, as well as the area under the cedars along the new fence…

this is before…

and after…

now we just have to rake up the grass…

and under the deck looks good…

next there will be some shopping for new members of the plant family;-)…

spent a little time the other day cleaning the shelf beside the hot tub…

there were tons of vines from the Virginia creeper and dead leaves around the circle of friends…

it looks so much tidier now…

thinking about what plant might go on the shelf when the weather starts and stays warm…

I’ve really been enjoying having both wicker chairs on the deck… hoping I may be able to put the mandevilla beside the one closest to the north steps, but we will have to see if there is enough room…

last week I ordered a chair cover that protects against rain… only ordered the one to be sure it would fit properly…

it arrived and did fit nicely, although it is hard to tell where the front of it is, lol…

so, the second was ordered and arrived yesterday…

it is going to be great to not have to bring the footstools and cushions into the kitchen every night…

the other day I cut up a sweet potato that was starting to sprout and put the pieces into yogurt containers with water…

then I moved them to the dining room window to encourage them to get growing…

I wasn’t going to start anything for the garden ahead of time but there you go…

just possibly I may have started some ivy for outside, lol…

Friday, it was rainy but I went out when it wasn’t spitting, and used the wetvac on the main pond area…

after two trips out, between rain, I managed to empty as much of the water as possible and collect the majority of the leaves…

I started on the waterfall area, but the rain was coming down much stronger so I had to stop…

the rain continued and filled up the bottom of the pond… I may leave that and just add water to fill it up…

I still have to empty the waterfall area before I can turn the waterfall on…

then the pond will sit for a week or so before the fish move into it;-)…

Wednesday, after I skimmed off as much of the floating bits as possible, I brought out the pond pump and attached a hose that stretched to the fence…

had to hold the float up so it took a while, but finally most of the water was emptied from the main part…

when I tried to work on the waterfall area the pump kept coming apart… luckily I was far enough away that I didn’t get drenched, lol…

that was it for the day…

Thursday I put on my watershoes, went into the pond, and pulled up two pails full of leaves and other debris… I also removed many big rocks and cut back a portion of the pond grass which was trying to take over…

my grandson set up the new wetvac we had purchased last week and vacuumed up more leaves and a few rocks, lol…

Wednesday was a beautiful day in the garden…

went under the top deck and dragged out the planters that fit around it…

loosened the soil and got them ready for planting at the end of May;-)…

that seems like a long time to wait… they were all completely thawed out, but I was happy to get them into the sun…

this year I am going to have more white in the garden and a bit less purple… can you believe it🤪…
