had a conversation the other day about often putting my foot outside of the blankets to sleep…

I’d seen something on social media saying it can help a person go to sleep…

one person agreed they did it all the time, but another said they’d never heard of that, or done it…

so, I went online and found the following:

early this morning I tried to get a photo of my foot outside the sheet and blankets…

it was entertaining to get the photo in the dark, lol…

spent some time yesterday changing the den to a bedroom;-)…

furniture was moved inside and outside of the room… a second mattress was brought down from upstairs to make the pullout couch more comfy, a quilt came up from the basement, and then the bed was made up in anticipation of company…

a basket of towels was put together, a bigger fan moved into the space, and a little rosebush was added to brighten it…

post its were added to advise the proper names to use when speaking with the household technology so that lights would go on and off as requested, lol…

looks very cozy…

was so tickled on Thursday morning… I spent just under an hour sitting on the deck reading in the sunlight…

the temperature was 3°C, and the weather channel suggested it felt like -2, although the deck is often warmer…

it was a bit of a process as I had to bring out a cushion for the chair and a small table for my tea, lol… I wore my winter jacket and had my Assiniboine Park Conservancy blanket over my legs, although I was in my slippers and was very comfortable…

what a treat to feel that warmth on my face…

and, when I went upstairs to lay down, the sun was shining along the bottom of the bed, so I napped sideways, with scrunched up legs;-)…

had a good sleep in my own bed and spent a restful day recovering from my camping trip;-)…

back to usual patterns and started my day with a fruit smoothie, thanks to the frozen fruit my grandson had picked up while he was house sitting…

lots of tv, reading and napping…

walked over and got my hair cut…

tiniest bit of purple left in it, lol…

it was a beautiful day and I enjoyed the walk… even got a few flower photos in the process… the St. James Biz have done a great job with the planters…

back home I had lunch and did more resting;-)… enjoyed time in the garden, listening to the waterfall…

cooked some pickerel for dinner…

it is always nice to come home…

spent my day basically in three spots…

on a lounge chair, beside the hot tub, reading…

on the couch in the living room with flowers on the table, reading as well…

on the bed, reading, napping, and watching some PVRed shows, track and field and skateboarding…

in between I did manage to make three meals… a fruit smoothie; egg salad on toast with fresh veggies; steak with mushrooms and sweet potato baked fries…

also chatted with my daughters and a couple of my grandsons…

a rather wonderful relaxing day, lol…

had a wonderful evening with my two youngest grandsons…

met up with them around 4:30 and then we wandered The Forks, visited the Ice Castles and had dinner out…

they must have gone down the slides a dozen times… now we are home and in various beds watching tv…

what a blessing to have time with them… although I am exhausted, lol…

whenever I am sick I have to make sure the bedroom is tidy before I can climb into bed and sleep… strange but true…

thinking back to the many years when the bedroom was a bit of a disaster with clothes on the chair and a messy bed…

for the last few years the it is always tidy and the bed always made so that was very helpful when I arrived home just after noon today… sick…

felt silly because I am not really ill… just hot and cold, with a headache, sad stomach and very tired…

started chicken soup to have later, but might not finish it tonight… apparently it needs too much energy, sigh…

interesting how our lives and behaviours change over time… although I still can’t get into bed when I’m sick unless the room is tidy, lol…

had some fun with my camera first thing this morning as I took pictures of the flowers in the house…

we will see if they end up dropping the rest of the blossoms or whether they will happily open…

beautiful hibiscus flower…

mandevilla blooms in the hanging basket which I set into the gardenia plant… hope they all make it through the winter…

grocery shopped at Safeway, dropped off the bags, and then went to Costco with my kids…

always find a few things there that I really need… today it was a cute Tommy Hilfiger sweater and some fancy olive oils…

great to have supper together again… and both my son-in-law and grandson did a few jobs around the house for me…

now I am curled up on my bed watching the Emmys and catching the odd Pokemon…
