last year I moved four amaryllis bulbs to the basement when they finished blooming…
I brought them up on Monday, gave them a good dose of water, and put them onto the dining room table…
a couple had already started to grow… one already had a green frond and there were a few with little bits of green starting…
I am turning them every time I feed the fish…
and this is how they look today;-)…
they are shooting up very quickly… and I am excited to see what will happen with them… hoping they end up producing some flowers and not just leaves, lol…
today, three jobs that have been on the list for ages, got done, thanks to Nathan the Handyperson, and my grandson;-)…
first, the front door sweep got reset and the edging tightened to close up any open spots… happy this took place before the really cold weather… it was first worked on about a year ago and the piece came off early in the spring…
next, the deck got levelled…
it has been sinking more and more over the summer and when they got the underside open, there was the tiniest piece of rotten wood holding it up😳…
we’ve lived here for just over forty-nine years and the deck was probably built at least thirty-five years ago… the top has been replaced once and is still in excellent condition… there was one piece of the frame that had to be replaced, but the rest was in great shape…
the steps to the side garden were removed for the work and then reattached and feel much sturdier now…
and the rail was redesigned, is much more stable, and matches the rail on the other side…
I am so thrilled it has been fixed…
finally, the rotten section on the bathtub pond ledge has been repaired…
I’ve been laughing since Wednesday, when my wonderful cleaning crew came and cleaned the house…
I was in the bathroom after they left and realized that they had tossed the box I had been using for my reusabletissues… it was empty because all of the tissues were in the midst of being laundered…
I checked in the recycling bin, but they must have tossed it into the garbage bag and I wasn’t digging through that…
after thinking about it for a while, I opened the end of the actual Kleenex box that was there for anyone else who comes over and popped them into it…
think it should work fine and I will be careful not to let it sit on the shelf empty, lol…
my grandson came over to help with some garden jobs… he cut down baby elm trees, emptied rain barrels, and then spent a lot of time trying and catching the sneaky fish in the pond…
after a few minutes, we decided to pump out a good portion of the water, hoping it would make the catching easier, lol…
it did, a bit… the fish still found all the nooks and crannies amongst the rocks…
eventually he caught most of them and we are down to about six left… so far we haven’t been able to catch any of the babies…
later in the afternoon I sat on the bridge with my feet in the pond, not moving at all… after about fifteen minutes I gave up… not a single fish went by… the minute I stepped out they swam right past, lol…
