for the last few days I’ve been watching the flickers on the roof of the garage enjoying the berries on the Virginia creeper… it has been a nice distraction as I go up and down the stairs, still using the cane…

they seem to gather around this time of year to fill up on ants and berries before heading south…

the other interesting thing about them is although they are woodpeckers, usually I see them on the ground, or in this case, on the garage roof…

our walk through the English and Leo Mol Gardens was lovely…

it was cool and overcast but it was nearly empty… hardly anyone else in the entire space…

fabulous to get a bit of exercise and spend time catching up…

it looked like one of the statues was holding up the scaffolding, lol… had to work a bit to get a photo that wasn’t too risqué… looking forward to seeing what changes will be made…

easy to spot our bench, but it looks a bit dull… well, the whole place looks that way…

fun to take pictures with my new camera and see how the plants are preparing for winter…

pleased to finally make it to the Gardens… sorry that it has been so long and I have missed all the Fall beauty…

very happy that we got through the walk without any mist…

a few days ago when I was heading home from work I stopped and took some pictures of the piles of leaves in the parking lot…

as I walked through the backyard I took some shots of the leaves there too…

I haven’t been enjoying this Fall because it hasn’t been very Fall-like, sigh…

cold, snowy, overcast… what a drag…

but the leaves are incredible… even if they are all on the ground…

I’ve been thinking about September… it has been a good month for me… as a kid I always liked starting school… and as a parent I also enjoyed when the girls headed back to school….

I started with my current employment on September 30, 2009…

following an eight week time away with pancreatitis and gall bladder surgery, I returned to work on September 28, 2010…

after a second surgery and being away from work for ten weeks, I returned September 27, 2012…

hadn’t realized how close those dates were until Facebook reminded me of the above facts…

usually the weather is beautiful as the leaves slowly change colour… this year there’s been a lot more rain and temperatures have plummeted…

one of the things I miss is the fall drive that my beloved and I would often take to enjoy the colours…

happily for me the sun is peeking out of the clouds off and on today;-)…

a few days ago I turned on the radiant heater in the bathroom because the floor was chilly…

sun is going down earlier and coming up later every day… seems like it was just June and here it is September, sigh…

also I’ve been noticing that the trees and plants are changing colour… the cedars are filled with cones… have never seen so many before… seems too soon to be fall…

so happy to see the Japanese Maple budding out with new leaves…

for a little while there I was thinking that it was really done…

this maple has travelled from Vancouver Island across the prairies in the back seat of a car, which makes it special… sometimes I have been a bit slow to bring it into the house in the Fall… thought for a short time I’d really messed up…

so I was very happy to see those leaves…

Spring really is coming…

couple of surprises this morning…

as I was searching for a pair of gloves I brought down a basket from the front entryway… was surprised to find a bunch of ladybugs behind it… not sure what I need to do about this…

of course I had to climb down off the chair, find my phone, and then climb back up to take pictures, lol… I don’t mind ladybugs, not like spiders… from a bit of research it appears that dark warm high places are just what they like to hibernate…

happily I did find the gloves which was great because when I looked outside the ground was covered with snow…

maybe Fall is over…

very fall-looking day… 

spent it indoors and the morning melted away as I worked on a little project…

wasn’t expecting it to take near as much time but working with a variety of technology is sometimes challenging, lol… although I always enjoy every minute when I am making something…

kept at it until it was done before I would let myself have lunch…

each meal today was a bit unusual… for breakfast I made zucchini pancakes to go with a poached egg… very tasty…

at lunch I had a whole wheat pita with lettuce and pâté and radishes alongside…

finally my dinner consisted of smoked goldeye with a stir fry of cauliflower, onion, eggplant and mushrooms…

although when I look at the pictures, there wasn’t much variety in colour except for the radishes… looking rather bland, lol…

took this picture of the house yesterday… looks pretty good, eh… thinking of the variety of looks it has had since September 1973…
