although I only worked three days this week I am very happy it is Friday…

also enjoyed stepping into the bathroom this morning…

 
last night I turned on the radiant heating… the floor felt toasty warm… very nice on this chilly morning… still giggle when I think about how we thought that the heat would radiate across the tiles where there weren’t any of the wires… that was so wrong, lol… if you put down this type of flooring make sure you put it everywhere…

checked out the morning glory early today… of course it had a few blooms opening…

  

  
happily the cold night didn’t kill either the morning glory or the mandevilla… 

keeping many individuals I know in my thoughts and prayers as they deal with difficult times in their lives… it is so easy to look at someone and think their life is great, not knowing what struggles they are facing…

gorgeous day off…

walked over to the Park and through the Gardens…

got a few nice shots during my walk…

  
lovely dahlia…

  
monarch on a butterfly bush… well more like a tree… they have quite a number of plants which spend the winter in the greenhouses… the butterfly bushes and datura are obvious ones… they are all very large… think that many of the plants get an early start there as well…

  
the rose standards were filled with nearly spent blooms… was surprised to see so many because last time I was there only a few were budding…

the pond in the Leo Mol Garden was nice but it is a bit cold for the water lilies to open…

  
always so peaceful in that portion of the Garden…

heard the horses while I was there which was cool… first time I’ve heard them in the Park… don’t think they made any sounds when we were in their area on Saturday…

  
this was what I saw as I was exiting the English Garden… great view of the fountain in the Duck Pond…

giggled when I got home because the pump in the small pond decided to shoot up higher than required…

  
the cold weather is clearing up the water…

had to top up the pond again this afternoon… won’t be long before we shut it down and do some reorganizing of the rocks… and I will have have to ponder what to do with the garden…

before leaving this morning I took a few pictures of flowers in the garden…

the mandevilla is filled with blossoms and flowers…

  
it is just loving its spot in the garden and the weather…

  
looking toward the pond from the deck, got a nice pic of the canna with the waterfall in the background… happy that it is going through another set of blooms…

stopped on my way home to get my hair cut… bit short, but it will grow…

  
I always go on Wednesday because that is seniors’ day… today I mentioned that Wednesday is my day because of the savings and the woman gave me back a toonie and said I needed to tell them because she would never have thought I was a senior… should have given her a bigger tip… it did make me feel good, lol…

been talking with different people about reaching senior status… depending where you are, the number can be anywhere from 55 to 65… I have been quick to access the discounts because I am happy to have reached whatever the age is… at Perkins they have a 55 plus menu which has smaller size portions… perfect for me… at a number of attractions when I was in Ottawa, there were discounts for ages 64 and over…

looking forward to collecting Old Age Security when I turn 65… friends have had different reactions when they started collecting it… some were thrilled to be getting some additional funds and others were shocked that their lives were coming to a close, and they wondered what they had done with it…

interesting how we all see things differently… guess that’s what makes us us, lol…

spectacular day…

up early and walked over to the Park… the Assiniboine is lower than I’ve seen it in many years…

  
had a wonderful breakfast with a dear friend at the Park Cafe… quite like their Black Bean Benedict…

  
cool but sunny… we had a leisurely walk through the zoo… quiet, and enjoyed a wonderful time in Journey to Churchill…

  
this is one of the three newest baby polar bears…

  
enjoyed the Shirley Richardson Butterfly Garden and found some cute caterpillar friends…

  
spent a fair bit of time with my camera taking pictures of butterflies and flowers… my friend was very patient, lol…  

I took a wander through the Gardens before walking home…

  
finally had a chance to see the new statue just inside the entrance to the English Garden… nice…

  
borders are at their best right now…

  
caught a frog by a purple water lily…

spending time in the Gardens brings such relaxation and peace… reminds me how lucky I am to live within walking distance of such a special place…

got home before noon after our last night of camping in the basement of my daughter’s new house… no furniture in the place other than our camping chairs and air mattresses… but it was warm, had toilets and running water… pretty darn nice…

when we got up this morning, the rain was going sideways as the wind was blowing like crazy… happy to be inside, lol… the guys ran out to check for basement flooding at one of the houses… they brought home egg mcmuffins for our breakfast… a tasty treat after the last few days of cooking on a campfire and doing endless dishes in a bucket, lol…

I brought in my gear and took a quick look around the garden as it had stopped raining during the drive…

  
this is a picture of the eggplant… when I left on Friday there were three hanging on the plant… apparently something or someone decided they needed them more than I did… hope they enjoyed them…

also picked some tomatoes while I was out there, finally ripening…a few of the Romas had blossom rot so I took the rest off…

  
had a few of them with my supper… tasted good…

it’s been overcast and windy for most of the day, but late this afternoon the sun came streaming through the window into the living room… had to get a photo…

in the car, on the way to the lake…

kind of late but life intervened in our desire to leave earlier,,,

day started out great with the large morning glory having an open blossom on it… not purple this time, but a lovely shade of blue…

  
got a few pictures first thing as I was running around getting the car packed…

as I was leaving for work I had to stop and take a few more pictures of the lovely shadows and sunlight on the plants…

  
took the few extra minutes to enjoy the moment…

over lunch hour helped prepare some appetizers for a shower a colleague was attending this evening…

such fun… every now and then I miss the catering business, lol… much more fun when you are only getting a few things prepped…

drove to my daughter’s new house and had a tour before we ran around and got groceries and did that last minute packing of the car…

not sure we have an extra inch available… of course, George would have had excess available… he was such a great organizer of space…

brought warmer clothes this time… flannel pajamas, heavier jackets and an extra blanket… can you tell I was a bit chilly during the night last time, lol…

this morning before I left home I got a shot of my little caterpillar friend… a slow mover who is starting to get a bit bigger… really loves the parsley which is mixed in with the morning glory…

  
there are a number of insects that I don’t care for, but caterpillars, butterflies and dragonflies are not on that list… 

also took a picture of the mandevilla which is covered with blooms… so pretty…

  
not too many flowers on the morning glory… but gorgeous…

  
as I drove into the driveway, had to stop and take a picture of the dragonfly sitting on the garage…

 

wonderful to have and take the time to see what’s going on around me…

day started with breakfast in the garden…

there were lots of birds… chickadees, goldfinches, sparrows, a woodpecker…

   
 
and I was very excited to discover a caterpillar on one of the parsley plants…

  
was enjoying the activity around me when all of a sudden I burst into tears… never know when the grief will hit you… must have sobbed for fifteen minutes before the sadness passed… miss my beloved so much…

did some gardening… one of the jobs was to take out many of the water hyacinth in the pond… couldn’t even tell if there were fish because it was completely covered over…

and discovered two baby fish… great news and they are both very pretty… moved too fast to get a good picture, lol…

got some nice shots of flowers…

laying on my bed slathered in aloe… hoping it will help the crazy itching of my legs and feet…

  
apparently the mosquitoes had a good meal last night and the days before while we were camping…

when I was walking on the treadmill this morning, I realized I had worn different shoes last night at the soccer game… the shoes I had on this morning were rubbing against a number of bites… felt much better when I put on last night’s sandals…

after my walk I went into the garden and took a few pictures… 

the mandevilla is covered in flowers and blossoms…

  
I am so drawn to the morning glories, which I’m sure is a surprise for you, lol…

 looks like these morning glory flowers will be much bigger than the other plant already flowering…

back to regular life today…

spent a few minutes in the garden checking out the flowers…

  
the dahlia has more flowers on it and two other plants are budding…

  
two beautiful morning glory flowers, neither of which were damaged yet…

the pond is covered with the water hyacinth… that from three plants, lol…

  
got picked up by my daughter and we came out to Blumberg where we are watching the middle guy play soccer… teams are evenly matched and it is a good game…

  
had a salad from Subway for dinner and am drinking some water… beautiful evening even though it is quite warm, but there is a lovely breeze…
