well, another moving day… we left the lovely garden of the Gingerbread Airbnb and went up the island to Lahaina…

we hadn’t been this way before so it was all new…

I cannot say enough about The Snorkel Store… besides providing our snorkel gear, chairs, umbrella and cooler, they have arranged tours and provided all kinds of answers to the many questions we have had… every single staff person has been personable and helpful… excellent customer service;-)…

they also provide a snorkelling report by email daily which really helps to decide which beach to go to…

I started following them on Instagram a few months ago… @thesnorkelstore

if you are going to visit Maui, you should check them out…

today was moving day…

we moved from the Maui Beach Hotel to the Gingerbread House Airbnb…

and we went to Ho’okipa Beach Park and saw green sea turtles… we were at this park a few days back but didn’t notice the turtles…

it is easy to think they are rocks on the beach, lol… they are protected and the area around them is blocked off so you can’t get too close, but I got a few good shots with my camera… they move very slowly but leave a serious trail in the sand… watching them move when they are on the beach is quite different from their arrival as they surf onto the sand…

started the day with a lovely hot tub…

although tons of snow has melted, there is still quite a bit covering the garden… took a photo when I got out of the tub…

this afternoon my grandson filled the bird feeders and then shovelled some of the snow so that it might melt a bit faster when the sun shines…

birds are gonna be happy…

such a beautiful start to the day…

the sky was gorgeous, the flowers were blooming… and it was warm… although there was just a skiff of snow on the ground…

amazing how fast we can forget the cold weather…

tonight it was great to see the solar lights coming on… in the garden they are shining through the snow…

more signs of Spring…

yesterday morning, as I was watching tv, I heard a loud rumble and crash on the roof…

it sounded like it came from the back of the house…

I went and looked out the window into the garden and couldn’t see much…

went downstairs and looked out the back door and spotted some chunks of a huge icicle on the deck…

was a bit nervous when I went out a short time later hoping that there weren’t going to be any others falling on top of me…

as I backed out of the garage, saw another big icicle that must have fallen at the same time on the other side of the house…

there is just one left now and it is much smaller;-)…

have decided that it needs to be Spring…

bought this cute little crocus plant and am enjoying watching the blooms open…

the sun is shining out there and it feels like Spring… in the house, lol…

except that the temperature is minus 34…

picked up a few Spring-y tops on Friday…

maybe if we imagine it enough, it will come sooner;-)…

backyard shenanigans…

came across my bunny friend in the garden…

I feel a bit like she’s a pet;-)…

then much later I heard a loud noise but couldn’t see where it came from…

just a while ago, I looked out the window and spotted this icicle that had fallen onto the hot tub…

happy I wasn’t in the hot tub at that moment, lol…

on the first day back to work, as I stepped out of the house, the ground was covered with a light dusting of snow…

I was at the garage door when a sweet bunny hopped into the garden…

had to stop and get a few photos, even though my hands were full, lol…

this morning as I was standing at the kitchen sink I noticed a bunny and a squirrel having a tiff in the neighbour’s backyard… seems like the squirrel won because the bunny went and hid behind a shed…

such fun to watch the critters…

pleased…

for the last four or five years one of my first acts of the New Year has been to change my Chihuly calendar from the last year to the coming one…

when I went to change it this morning and turned up the last page of the 2018 calendar it was a lovely photo of a Float Boat… I love the circular shapes and gorgeous colours and was sad that I wouldn’t see them…

when I opened up the 2019 calendar the first photo was of Mille Fiore… lovely blues and purples… the calendars have a few months before January and a few after December…

the January picture was all clear and didn’t make me at all excited…

so I changed it… cut the photo out and put it over the clear pic, lol..

I am pleased with the final product…

later in the afternoon I spent some time in the hot tub and thought of the various places I have seen Float Boats… the first place was at Chihuly Gardens and Glass in 2013 with my daughter and son-in-law when they were living on Vancouver Island…

I’ve also seen lots of photos in books on Chihuly…

and my favourite was from our visit to the Atlanta Botanical Garden in 2016…
