I opened the patio door without any blockage from snow… yay… and left it open for most of the day… still going to be a while before I can sit out there…
the sun was shining, the birds were singing and the snow was melting…
added chemicals to the hot tub, which I haven’t done for ages as it has been so cold, the tub had been covered in snow, and there was no space for the covers to opens…
every time I went out to add the chemicals, I kicked some of the snow on the path so it could melt…
yesterday I put up a photo on Instagram that showed my Japanese Maple just starting to leaf out… this picture below came up in my Google Photos today showing the same tree two years ago… made me laugh because it is so different, lol…
the good news is that it is starting…
and obviously, I should have put it up today, on St. Patrick’s Day, when we are all Irish;-)…
at the bottom of the tree, shamrocks have been growing since the first summer it went outside and the shamrock plant jumped into the pot…
after all these days of snow I hadn’t felt like that much had fallen…
this was the garden Saturday at 3:06 pm…
and this was the same spot yesterday at 7:40 am… the gazing ball on its stand is no longer visible…
I guess more came down than I thought, lol…
the last few years we haven’t had much snow, but we appear to be making up for that now… a number of reports are suggesting that we’ve hit some records…
in this photo from yesterday, you can see how high the snow is on the railing… and the lovely drifts along the sidewalk…
put on long underwear, an extra vest, mitts over gloves, my Canada Goose jacket, and went out in the extreme cold to shovel a path to the garbage and recycle bins…
I had hoped to put them in the lane for pick up but there was just too much snow… hopefully, next week it will be a bit warmer so I can finish digging the path out all the way to the gate…
thankfully there is a bit of space in both bins so they should be fine for one more week…
there was a huge drift up against the back door and it took a while to get through it…
as I moved further into the yard, the path got narrower… it was cold out there…
it was just wide enough for me to carry out the bags, lol…
sure do miss my beloved, he would have shovelled and snow blowed a great path all the way to the lane, no problem… and had fun doing it, lol… he did love to play with the snowblower…
