this morning there were a pair of geese at the end of the street as we were heading to work… caught this cool shot of them in the rear view mirror… hope they decide to nest here…

as I walked up the street on my way home, chatted with a woman who was looking into the creek… she’s a teacher and was trying to find the beaver’s lodge so she could bring her class to see it… that’s pretty cool…

on Sunday I took this shot of one of the trees that the beaver has been working on…

this morning I started my day at the clinic doing bloodwork before my next appointment…

on my way back to the car I kept having to stop and watch the geese flying overhead… I cannot keep from looking up when I hear them honking…

then I met up with my walking buddy… we had breakfast at The Park Cafe, and noticed that all the geese that usually spend time in the pond were off filling up somewhere else, lol… afterward we wandered through the English and Leo Mol Gardens which are rather sad just now but it was great to be outside…

I dropped her off and we checked out her newly renovated garden… as I was leaving I got this pic of a neighbour’s Halloween decorations;-)…

when I arrived home, had a lovely visit with one of my neighbours… haven’t been outside at the same time for ages so it was great to catch-up… they usually spend a few months at their property in Arizona but with health issues they can’t get insurance so will be selling… they do have a winterized cottage just outside the city, so will spend time there…

seems like we have to adapt quite a bit as we get older…

early morning… beautiful sky… changed every few minutes as I drove downtown…

saw dozens of geese flying low overhead… what an amazing sight… and a wonderful way to start the day…

had a smoothie for breakfast, butternut squash soup for lunch and ended the day with a late supper of jumbo shrimp and wild rice… healthy and tasty…

good way to start off my weekend;-)…

sadly I woke up with a headache which stayed through the whole day… up around eight and relaxed around the campsite… the sun looked cool through the trees and I got a few neat shots of lichen on a branch… saw quite a few geese today when we were down by the water…

then we were off fishing… the boys had great success… my son-in-law caught a 39 inch Jack, just shy of a Master…

after lunch all the boys went to the beach while I tried to sleep off my headache… didn’t work, but I had a nap…

got ready for supper and my daughter arrived from the city… hot dogs and smokies on the fire, clean up and off for an evening ride on the boat…

fun to see how different the cottages look all lit up…

been waiting to go to Canadian Tire to pick up new wheel covers for Shadow… this is the final piece following her accident, although I have to be back in touch with MPI to be reimbursed…

wasn’t 100% sure what I needed so I waited for a day when my son-in-law was available… today we ran over and found just the right covers, and when we got home he installed them…

as we arrived home a group of Canada geese flew over the house… can’t decide if it was a skein, a wedge or a team, lol… very exciting… made the dull overcast seem less oppressive… a sure sign of Spring…

ended the day with barbecued steak for our dinner…

the last bit of ice in the covered entryway to the backyard has also been removed which makes me happy…

now to watch the Junos…

had made a date to go for a walk in the Gardens at Assiniboine Park this afternoon, but we decided to visit the zoo instead…

a beautiful afternoon, an excellent walk and a good visit… couldn’t ask for more…

we saw a few peacocks as we wandered along the paths but none were prepared to show their finery…

at one point I was standing in the shade with the stroller and one of the peacocks walked right beside me and then into the sun… I was shocked but cleverly got this pic…

gorgeous colours even without flaunting its tail feathers…

not three minutes later a gaggle of geese shot past me and around a huge crowd of people who were lined up for ice cream, ignoring everyone as they moved along, clearly with a destination in mind…

so blessed to have opportunities to spend time with friends and enjoy such a fun location…

what a wonderful day off… not exactly as planned…

started with a walk around the pond at the Birchwood Automotive Group to see the geese… at first there were two and then three others arrived… little bit of  discussion amongst them before they became friends…

from there I headed off to lunch with a great friend who is having a birthday tomorrow… excellent meal and fun to be together…

always have lots to talk about, lol…

came home to find my sister-in-law had arrived from Calgary… it is always special when we have time together… before she moved to Calgary, besides spending family time, we also worked with one another… 

we ran out and did a bit of grocery shopping… she found this cute tray for me…

back home we had a snack and waited for my nephew to pick her up… once they left I had a nap and made dinner…

so, today it was all about the geese… and a few ducks… found the Latin name for them – branta – as I was doing some research…

wrote about my mom’s drawing of a goose a while back…

early this morning I was out in the hot tub and watched hundreds of them flying overhead…

took my first walk since the fall to Assiniboine Park and wandered around the English and Leo Mol Gardens…

lovely day although a bit windy, and I was very happy to be outside walking… the sidewalks were all clear and dry…as I was crossing the walking bridge by the Park I caught these geese along the riverbank… 

as I looked from the Boy with the Boot to the flag on the Pavilion, a few more were walking on the ice at the Riley Family Duck Pond…

there was open water as well as ice, lol…

on the tour of the Gardens I could hear the geese honking as they flew over and talking to one another in the river…

before crossing the bridge to come home took this picture of a pair… one was guarding while the other was eating…

they are so majestic and beautiful… and their honking still makes me stop and look up, wherever I am… 

too bad about all the fertilizer they leave behind…

fun and frustration today…

spent some time cleaning off the deck and then sitting out reading and listening to music… warm enough to just have on a long shirt and culotte jeans… 

heard and spotted geese flying overhead and managed to catch them on my phone…

my daughter was working but all the boys came over and we headed out to do some shopping… except that my car wouldn’t start… the boys pushed it out of the garage and into the street where my son-in-law boosted it…

we went to the first grocery store and when we came out the car wouldn’t start again… found a fellow leaving his car and got a boost… went to two more stores and we ran in and left my son-in-law in the car to drive around while we shopped… by the third store we all went in and rushed through to be sure the car would work… 

on our way home we went to Canadian Tire and picked up a battery charger…

while supper was cooking, we charged the battery so it should be fine tomorrow…

when we were out I picked up a purple hyacinth and some purple flowers…

the funny thing was that when we arrived home from our vacation the kids’ vehicle wouldn’t start… then, this morning my son-in-law’s car wouldn’t start;-(… but this was the third, so we should be good, lol…

yesterday I got off work early and went to the Formal Gardens at the Park to get in some exercise and collect poke balls…

pleased that I actually got out there… by the time I left the office it was drizzling and it kept up the entire time…

once there I put on my hat and rain jacket as well as some gloves to stay warm… I did still have on sandals…

on my circuit around the Gardens I ran into a fellow who asked me some questions about texting and cell phones… we would pass one another and have a few friendly words each time… kind of fun to have someone to talk to, lol… even if he didn’t know what texting was…

got some interesting pictures…

not sure why so many of the trees have this gray streak down the side…

there were leaves everywhere…

the Pavilion through the mist/drizzle…

took a little detour on my walk and spent some time taking pictures of Canada geese before heading to the car and then home…

as I was nearing the park exit saw two deer crossing the road and was able to stop and watch them for a few minutes before other cars drove by and scared them away… there is actually a deer in this picture but it is camouflaged pretty well…

felt good to get out and move… and I collected 100 poke balls:-)…
