in May, I was very happy to be able to get some veggie plants delivered from Jonathan’s Farm…

amongst them were some very nice beefsteak tomatoes, which for some reason I keep calling beefeater, lol…

I planted one in a pot on the deck and it produced a lovely large tomato which has gotten more beautiful by the day…

last night I got a fresh loaf of bread and today I picked the tomato and made a delicious tomato sandwich…

yum, what a wonderful treat;-)…

we got a few of the projects off the list on Saturday…

the Virginia creeper had a haircut, thankfully, as when our neighbour came through the gate with his little guy, he had to duck under it, lol…

looks much tidier now…

we cleaned out the area around the air conditioner and attached the hose connectors on the side of the gate…

I think it is going to be much handier in the new spot…

I am so pleased with how the garden is coming along, even with this rather changeable weather…

there are teeny little cucumbers starting to grow… at least one butternut squash has started, and there is a lovely beefsteak tomato…

the beautiful strawberry got eaten… and not by a human;-(… not sure if it was a bird or a squirrel, but I’m leaning towards squirrel, lol…

on Friday the dahlias came up from the basement…

two years ago when I brought them in, I removed all the soil, bagged each one, labelled them and put them away in the dark in the basement…

when I brought them in last fall, I didn’t even take off the dirt… they went into a pail, which went onto a shelf in the laundry area… so, not even in the dark… and I had no idea which type they were, lol…

when the pail came upstairs on Friday I wasn’t expecting much and was pleasantly surprised…

at least four of the clumps had new growth… I am very excited about this… currently they are sitting on the table in the sun…

soon they will be planted in pots in the garden;-)…

on Monday I received a birthday present in the mail…

it is a plastic envelope with a disk of soil, a popsicle stick and seeds…

it will turn into sunflower micro greens…

this morning, after going online for directions, I added water, stirred up the soil, added the seeds, stirred it a bit more, misted it and put it into the sunshine;-)…

will be checking it out daily to see how it grows…

what a clever idea and lovely gift;-)…
