yesterday we had a hailstorm… it started as a bit of rain, then a thunderstorm, and then it turned into this crazy pounding of pieces of hail that went from pea to marble sized…

it happened around five and there was still lots left at nine-thirty…

the garden seemed to get it much worse than the front yard…

the poor baskets took a real beating… fingers crossed that they all come back…

this morning I discovered that two of the cucumber plants had been nearly broken in half, so I created splints for them and we will see if they recover…

what a sight…

I was laying on the bed upstairs yesterday watching the end of a movie when I heard a huge clap of thunder…

jumped up and ran outside to put away the cushions… I don’t like it when they get wet and they were on all of the chairs…

almost got the last ones into the garage when the downpour began… I stood in the garage doorway and watched rain and hail pelt down for a while and then, when it slowed down a little, made it into the house…

all of the windows were wide open as well as the screen door, but luckily only the kitchen and bedroom had issues…

had to take up the rug at the door and wipe up the water in the kitchen… the other rooms were pretty good… thankfully, the blinds were down in the bedroom so the water only came in a bit in one corner of the frame… once I wiped it up it didn’t take long to dry…

it remained overcast for a while, but then the sun came out and it was beautiful…

brought Barbie the barbecue out and grilled a steak for my dinner to go along with the potato salad I had made earlier in the day…

then I sat on the deck and read;-)… crazy weather…

interesting weather day…

started off at 19 Celsius and sunny… but it did say something about thunderstorms later in the day…

when I got into the car at the end of the day it registered 32 and the sky was starting to get dark, but it didn’t rain on my drive…

once I was home and ate my dinner the rain began…


not that we really need more rain… the hibiscus has many yellow leaves from too much water…

and then the sky opened up and dumped so fast that it was difficult to see out the window and it looked like smoke was coming from the neighbour’s roof as the wind blew the rain across it…


it didn’t hail here, although it certainly made me think it was going to… but it did about 15 streets to the west…

by the time my friends arrived it had stopped raining and while we were visiting the sky started to clear and the sun came out…

when they left the sun was shining from the backside of the clouds so I had to get a picture of the lovely pink highlights…


always think how lovely it is to be able to enjoy these special moments in time… not only the weather but the opportunity to spend time with these wonderful and wise women…

very odd weather day…

got up and went outside first thing… it had been sunny but by the time I got out it was starting to cloud over…

decided to only put out the cushions for the chair I was sitting on… which turned out to be a good plan, lol…

there was so much activity that I couldn’t stay focused on the book I was reading…

  
the bunny stopped by and dealt with a number of dandelions… good thing because I never did manage to get any weeding done…

   
 

the goldfinch family were all over as were the sparrows…

  
there were at least three squirrels in the garden at the same time… beside these gray ones there was one cute little red squirrel…

  
seemed like they all wanted to get as much food as possible before the weather changed…

and change it did… rained, cleared, rained, there was thunder, rained, cleared and so on for most of the day… eventually about four it seemed to have settled down…

  
just a little while ago it got instantly dark followed by thunder and lightning and then the hail came down…

  
yikes…
