because it was another gorgeous day, our Monday gathering took place on the deck for one last time…

I moved the furniture, swept all the leaves off, cleaned the glass table, and put cushion covers on the chairs…

as I was sweeping the lower deck, it occurred to me that I could have used the leaf blower, lol… oh well, good exercise, lol…

and, we were treated to a freshly baked Bundt cake;-)… yum…

the sun shone and it did cool off a little, but we were very comfortable… what a treat in the middle of October…

enchanted…

just spent a delightful hour with Dr. Jane Goodall…

well, she was on stage at the Royal Botanical Gardens Canada, and I was on the couch in the living room;-)…

she is a wonderful story teller and kept the audience, and me, enchanted…

from her earliest years, with a mother who supported her desire to know everything about animals, to her building of the Jane Goodall Institute, her life has been filled with spirit and a thirst to know more…

she has focused on chimpanzees, people and the environment…

so happy that I came upon this talk as I was scrolling through IG today…

people, there is hope, but we need to work at it, together;-)…

Friday, it was getting chilly in the house and I was wearing a vest and had a blanket on when I read, lol…

Saturday morning, the temperature was down to 17 so I gave in and turned on the heat…

I went outside to fill the bird feeders and when I returned to the house it already felt warm, woohoo…

not a good sign about the weather on the whole;-(…

had a great time on Monday, when I met with my BS buddies at the Park Cafe for a celebration lunch…

it was amazing because it was the birthday person’s birthday, lol… we don’t often have the celebration on their actual day…

we were there for a few hours…

the restaurant wasn’t too full, we had a lovely waitperson, the meal with very tasty, and we had lots of laughs and conversation (as always)…

these women have been my lifeline for over thirty-five years…

Monday I walked over to the Park Cafe wearing my new weighted gloves…

they are purple and kind of cute, lol…

I popped them into my vest while we were there and couldn’t believe how heavy it was when I lifted it to put it back on before heading out…

after a quick tour of the English and Leo Mol Gardens, which have a beautiful autumn vibe, with orange, yellow, purple, and brown colouring, I walked home with them on…

I am getting used to them…

today I had another wonderful example of great use of technology…

I always think of how privileged I am that I am able to have someone come and clean for me…

the two cleaners arrived right on time and asked me to wait when I started to speak to them about what needed to be done… I was told “no English”…

once they had all their equipment inside, one of them got out their phone and went to Google Translate… then they spoke, I read, I spoke, they read…

how cool is that… they were a husband and wife who came here from Ukraine, where they had been accountants…

it was lovely that we could communicate so well…

took some time to begin the process of changing the living room table display for the fall…

removed the shells that I rediscovered in the spring… I won’t forget where I put them this time (upstairs in the Computer room closet🤪), lol…

I decided to put my camera collection out… I had to move the glass to fit one of them in…

next I printed photos to put in each of the squares… that was a bit of a process between the iPhone, computer, and printer, lol… besides having to choose only sixteen (well, seventeen)…

I’m rather pleased with how it came out;-)…

next change will be glittery things for the holiday season…

well, we made it…

this Dahlia Fringed ‘Tsuki Yori’ bloomed at last, happily before the frost arrived…

I bought the plant in early May when we visited Lily Stone Cafe for High Tea and then checked out Lily Stone Gardens…

it was planted on the deck as soon as the risk of frost had passed, but has been slow growing since… there is another bud on it;-)…

very pleased it has opened as it is rather lovely…

we moved into this house in September of 1973… 50 years ago:-)…

this is rather astonishing to me, lol…

early on, there was a lot of red everywhere, inside and out… then we went to some light pink, gray, and finally to touches of purple…

the garden started out as a grassed square, then a space for a kid swing set, a small pool, a giant sandbox, a two story playhouse, and then plants and ponds…

so many changes, so many memories;-)…

what a life…

finally went for a walk a week ago…

took a few books and dropped them off at a Little Library…

on my walk I got a few nice photos…

this flower bed had purple in it and on the planter and behind is a purple picnic table;-)…

didn’t go all the way to the Park, but want to get back into the habit, so decided to start small…

felt good;-)…
