my neighbours have been building these beautiful raised garden beds in their yard…

I got a text asking if they could use some old wood that was alongside my garage…

we met outside and he showed me what he was hoping they could use… old bits of logs that I didn’t even know where there, lol…

I was happy for them to take them and use them in the bottom of the planters…

not long after I sent a message asking if they would like cardboard for the very bottom and he said sure…

I was thrilled to get rid of a number of boxes which had been waiting to be broken down to go into the recycling bin…

made us both happy…

I’ve been watching a chipping sparrow for the last few days…

it keeps coming to the floating basket in the pond to have a drink and a bath… apparently it is just the right depth…

yesterday a house sparrow decided it wanted to drink from that particular spot…

the chipper wasn’t thrilled but they did share the space…

last fall I brought the fuchsia in to see if it would survive the winter in the house…

it did, but looked rather scraggly when it came back outside, so I wasn’t sure if it would flower again…

and look what I spotted…

beautiful flowers opening… tough little devil…

was rather pleased that it made it;-)…

interesting how difficult holidays can be sometimes… used to be such a wonderful time… pleased that most years I am able to focus on the special times that have taken place…

I am loving my new hose…

it reaches to the front step with ease and I can also get to all the plants and pots in the shade garden as well…

lots of room to get to each of the hanging baskets to give them a drink…

I’ve been having fun trying different routes with it, to see which ones I like the best…

and it barely takes up any room when it is put away… unlike the old one which wouldn’t hang properly as it had a mind of its own, lol…

yesterday I received two sets of stickers made from my photos, that had been ordered a while ago…

after cleaning off one that came on the computer, thanks to rubbing alcohol and an old facecloth, I added one of each ;-)…

Hilda the Gardener came by today and filled the front planters, a couple of hanging planters on the side of the house, a bed next to the garage, and moved ferns from one area to another…

everything looks great…

there is a threat of frost (for the next three nights), so I have just come in from putting sheets over all of the areas, lol…

excited to see how wonderful it is all going to look;-)…

she also brought me some lilacs, because she knows I love them…
