I am so happy that the hibiscus has a flower on it… this is the first one since the tree came outside…
it is so pretty and I am hopeful that there will be more in the near future…
these pictures were taken about two hours apart on Friday…

so far the fuchsia, mandevilla, Japanese Maple and most recently, the hibiscus, have made it outside…
the Maple went behind the waterfall and the others have moved into the shade for a few days to acclimatize to the heat and sun;-)… the mandevilla kept getting blown over so it is currently being propped up with chairs…
there is a lot more space in the living and dining rooms, lol…

had a busy day…
enjoyed the hibiscus which surprised me with a new flower yesterday and is still blooming, cozied up agains the wall;-)…
ran towels through the washer, folded and put them away…
it has been crazy cold here, but the sun was shining as I shovelled the snow to get to the garbage and recycling bins and then took out a ton of stuff, completely filling the recycle bin… will need to remember to put it in the lane for pickup day, lol…
did some tidying as the cleaners are coming tomorrow…
as I tidy I always remember how blessed I am;-)…

lovely sunrise through the trees this morning…
and then I spotted what I think is going to be the last bloom on the hibiscus for now…
a bit sad as I’m not sure when it might start blooming again, but I will keep checking daily…
I’ve been sure to stop and check it out throughout the day;-)…

spent some time trimming the hibiscus now that most of the buds have opened…
here it was before the haircut, kind of scraggly…
and after, being careful not to cut off any of the remaining buds;-)…
I think it looks much tidier and it is much easier to walk past it, lol… and then it had another bloom;-)…
here it is five years ago… so tiny…
and since then it has lost one whole stem…

the Advent calendar has made its way back into the living room… it looks so great in that spot…
last year it was filled with yummy bonbons from Decadence Chocolates…
this year it will be filled with bits and pieces from Canadian Chocoholic’s stash…
now I just have to to wait for the parcel to arrive with the chocolate to go into it😊…

spent time in the garden doing cleanup…
emptied soil from pots and stacked them in the shed…
repotted some pansies to bring inside, brought the butterfly bush into the basement and the hibiscus into the dining room…
after closing up the shed, I undid the bathtub pond pump and brought it inside to clean and put in the basement…

yesterday the wind came up late in the afternoon and I decided to protect a few spots…
put chairs around the obelisk on the deck so it wouldn’t fall over…
then I took a chair and propped it against the hibiscus… not only didn’t I want it to fall over, I didn’t want it to fall into the pond…
I didn’t feel that the mandevilla needed any protection so left it alone…
everything made it through fine although I have left the chair by the hibiscus as there are supposed to be strong wind gusts tonight…

Hilda the Gardener came by this afternoon and cleaned up the garden… there were still flowers blooming, so I was happy that she was dumping them and I didn’t have to, lol…
she emptied all of the planters and transplanted the two butterfly bushes… the plan is to try and overwinter them in the basement… we will see if they make it…
the only plants left are the dahlias which I will remove when they die back…
it looks rather naked in the garden… and the pots in the front yard are empty now… will have to decide what to put in the one on the steps for the winter…
the mandevilla and hibiscus are still on the deck but they will likely come in tomorrow…
I’m going to cover each of them with a garbage bag and leave them for a few days… hope that deals with any bugs, lol…
