a few days ago my grandson dug the hole deeper where the mandevilla has been residing for most of the summer… it lives in the house during the winter months and has just started to bloom…

it has also been blowing over fairly regularly and I’ve had to bungee cord it to the upright umbrella on really windy days so it wouldn’t fall over again… I had dug the hole to what I thought would work, but it wasn’t deep enough, lol…

Thursday, the wind was very strong and the mandevilla stayed put with no leaning or falling at all;-)

Monday another hole was made in the sky…

first thing in the morning a number of trucks filled up the street…

they were there to cut down one of the elm trees… I hadn’t realized that it had been marked…

it took four hours to get it down to the stump… and then they left… about an hour later a few of them returned and ground it down to nothing…

amazing how complicated the process is… it was interesting to watch…

this morning I was reminded of how beautiful hoarfrost can be… the pictures I came across were from eight years ago and showed the elm tree that lived across the street…

it was cut down a few years ago…

I took a photo to compare and was surprised at how much the cedar in our front yard has grown… the photo also shows the huge hole where the tree used to be…

I sure do miss the trees that have gone…

took a few pictures today of the neighbour’s front yard…

it is very sad…

the big elm tree was cut down a few days ago… I hadn’t noticed until a while after I got home that night because it was late and dark out…

will be missing the shade this tree provided… and all the seasonal beauty…

another big hole in the neighbourhood landscape…
