on Saturday, we went to Giant Tiger as I’d seen an ad that had Debbie Travis bed sheets with a pattern I’d been looking for…

I have been searching for a particular leafy pattern without success…

the plan for the lounger was to combine two cushions, that I already have, into one, with a kind of slip-on pillowcase…

the store didn’t have the sheets but did have curtains with the same pattern, although the green is a bit darker than what I had in mind…we checked the measurements, which worked, so brought the curtains home… the fabric feels soft, but also strong…

got out the two cushions and laid them on the dining room table and got to work…

one curtain fit perfectly so I sewed the two sides together by hand and the fit looks nearly perfect…

it wasn’t quite as long as I’d hoped, so I couldn’t do a fold over to slip over the top of the lounger, but with two cushions inside it is a tight fit so it is just right…

I had been looking to have a custom cushion made, but, for less than $40 and a bit of sewing, I got something that was ten times less money and looks very nice in the garden;-)…

on Friday evening I brought the lounger onto the deck and put a number of comforters on it…

Friday night…

then, once it was dark I headed out for my version of camping, lol…

had a pretty good sleep and enjoyed looking at the stars whenever I woke up during the night… and there were no mosquitoes;-)…

Saturday morning…

the weather looked good and that went so well that I decided to sleep out again on Saturday night…

around 4:30 am drops began to land on me😳, and shortly thereafter all of the paraphernalia was on the kitchen floor and I headed upstairs to my bed, lol…

put out the cushions, watered the plants, filled the pond, and then finally sat in the garden…

  
just about then a large bird flew through the garden and landed on the trellis behind the waterfall… the sparrows flew away very quickly… from my bird app I think it was a hawk… that was new, as I’ve never seen one in the garden…

shortly after that the kids picked me up and we went lounge chair shopping…

  
got this one and then a cushion from another store… not sure whether to keep the cushion… 

  
picked up this umbrella for the kids and when they put it up the crank stopped working and we had to take it back, but we got a new one which seems okay…

  
they got a new lounger and cushion and someone is very happy with it…

  
and now we are sitting on their deck swatting mosquitoes…

sleeping over and going to spend the day boating in Gimli… great start to my holidays…

I am just about ready for bed, cause there was no nap today…

had to get out of the car and take a picture of the side of the house this morning…

looks like someone or something ran up the side… kind of artistic…

yesterday there was a note from Hydro saying I needed to read the meter again… they are rather finicky about when you read it, lol… took a picture today and will email it to them tomorrow…

  
hope this works because getting the numbers right seems to be an art…

have a cruise booked with Cyndi and Ron…  we booked it in October I think…  lots has gone on since then – Christmas, Mexico vacation with the whole family, anniversary of George’s death and my birthday…

we booked hotels and activities for the week following the cruise a while ago, to be sure we would get the things we wanted…

last week Cyndi and I talked about the excursions on the cruise and which ones we might like to take…

there are lots of options so she is doing more research and checking with Ron to see what is at the top of his list…

I don’t believe I’ve spoken to a single person who has taken an Alaskan cruise who didn’t love it… I am looking forward to spending time with the kids and seeing some wonderful scenery…

today I got to spend some time out on the deck in the sun… finally the temperature was warm enough… I have been sleeping in this lounger (n the house) for the past week in an attempt to help my back…

started out overcast…

slept off and on through the night sitting in the lounger that I bought yesterday… so spent a good portion of the morning and early afternoon watching tv and dozing in the chair… the good news is that it has helped my back…

very large snowflakes came down...

was thinking about having a hot tub around 8 am but then huge snowflakes started to come down and more and more came down for a long time… about 3 it stopped and the sun came out…

deck covered AGAIN... although it did melt late in the afternoon...

went grocery shopping and came home to make dinner for the kids…

since then I have been watching the JUNOs in the lounger which Jeff took upstairs for me…

looking forward to a better sleep tonight and hopefully my back with be feeling much better tomorrow…
