had a lovely few minutes when I got home… walked into the living room to put away my purse…

the light was shining into the room and I went and got my phone so that I could take some pictures…

spent a wonderful few minutes taking shots of the various flowers in the light…

the sunlight was gorgeous as it streamed into the space…

the mandevilla is struggling with being in the house and the buds are opening in a very strange fashion…

love this picture of the new orchid with some of the blossoms in the light and some in shadow…

on Sunday my son-in-law adjusted my timers so they would come on a bit earlier… it has been great to come downstairs in the morning and have it light… but tonight it was dark…

apparently one of the bulbs is burnt out… not sure I have a replacement… guess I’ll be sorting that out, lol…

my daughter brought me Roma tomatoes from her garden on Sunday and I finally put them on a plate and took some to work to share while they are at their best…

had a few with my lunch… they went well with the zuchinni basil soup… 

my colleagues enjoyed them too…  

sliced some on the mandolin – without cutting any of my appendages – and added them to the pita pizza for my supper…

included the last of my basil, some pistachios, and Brie cheese… and a few radishes on the side to get my veggie quotient… delicious…

have to remember not to eat too many tomatoes… although they are delicious, they are also filled with sugar…

the mandevilla still seems very happy… can’t even count the blooms…

last night my BS buddies came over and we had a hot tub while we caught up with one another’s lives…

although the wind had been whipping around the house not too long before they arrived, it calmed down and we had a lovely time…

we settled on the top deck to continue our visit…

I was admitting to not watering as much as I need to so the plants are a bit sad… been spending all my time in front of the tv watching Olympics, lol…

next time I go away, I will have to find someone to come and water, so the plants don’t give up on me…

so, tonight, while my supper was cooking, I went out and watered everything…


the Mandevilla is very happy with the heat and being a bit dry…

recently had a conversation with someone about having that person at home you can tell anything to and they will immediately take your side…

this is one of the things I miss about being on my own… my beloved would listen to my version of whatever it was and be ready to go and do anything needed to sort out the situation… so often I would then have to calm him down, lol, but just knowing that he was always in my corner was so wonderful…

I miss him in different ways on different days… he really did complete me…

in these 1590 days I have continued to learn things and gain strength each step of this new journey… I am braver, stronger, healthier and maybe smarter… maybe…

this morning my focus seems to have been on flowers, lol…

had to take a few pictures of the neverending October IKEA orchid… it continues to amaze me with its beauty…

straight on and…

then I looked out the window and saw the dahlia blooming…

they are a beautiful shade of purple and look very nice in the planter…

so excited when I stepped outside to see that one of the mandevilla blossoms had opened… even in the rain…

the weather danced between blue sky and rain and overcast all day long…

took this picture when I first got out of bed… since then it has been gray, cloudy, sunny, cloudy, rainy, sunny, rainy, cloudy… on my drive home it looked similar to this shot and now it is gray and the rain has just stopped… 

feels like everyone I know is a bit down or feeling a little off…

the neverending rain is getting a bit trying… looking forward to some sunshine…

had a great little wander around the garden this morning…

the mandevilla is getting ready to bloom… it hasn’t done that well so I am very happy that there are finally buds, at least 8 of them… mandevillas take a long time for the flowers to open and they are very architectural…

these fushia are a different colour than my usual red and purple ones… two of those have already died… too much rain I think… will see how these ones do…

these daisies are in the grass in the neighbour’s yard… I think they may have travelled over from my garden and they look very cute… glad I caught them before they are mowed down… the daisies in our garden have travelled across the yard at least three or four times over the years…

spent time reading and watching these two squirrels at the feeder… they’ve been spending lots of time eating and fighting over who gets to stay there… most of yesterday they were tossing one another off the feeder… couldn’t tell if they were taking turns or if the same one was always left on it… today they seem to have come to an agreement and have been sharing the space…

happy with all the new plants… can hardly wait to get them outside…

the gardenia smells delicious…


and the flowers are very pretty…

the two tropicals are ready to get into the garden…


they are going to make it a bit more lush… not exactly sure where they will end up,  and will likely move them around a bit to find the best spot…

the mandevilla looks great and I can hardly wait to get it planted…


very happy with the fire table…


been looking for months for just the right one… saw this on Friday and met the kids to actually buy it on Saturday and they brought it home in their vehicle…

was able to get it going easily… simple to turn on and off and I think it is going to be just the right thing for me…


sat in the hot tub and watched the flames for ages… very nice…

looking for a bit of help with the gardening I think…

first thing this morning I took a picture of the Mandevilla… it is a lovely shade of pink…

  
then I spent a bit of time putting a few new plants on the steps at the front of the house…

  
came out pretty nice… hope they last until the cold comes…

been noticing orange things as I remember my friend Susan… she loved orange… on my walks in the Park I have been drawn to the orange flowers… I’ve been working on a project and have noticed I’ve been gravitating to orange there as well…

missing my beloved lately as well… interesting how time can go by and then all of a sudden I miss him tremendously…

tonight the sky was beautiful again…

first thing this morning took pictures of the big morning glory… apparently they are never going to open on a day when I am home and can see it when it is fully open, lol…

  
interesting colour on it… also took this one of the mandevilla… there are lots of blossoms on it…

  
on a walk at lunch I spotted some kids climbing on Emptyful… they were having a great time as the spray blew over them… 

 
beautiful day… on the way home enjoyed the lovely weather as I walked…

  
got a shot of the morning glory when I arrived at the house… bit of a hybrid I think…

finished off my day with fresh corn on the cob which was delicious…

so excited this morning because the second batch of morning glories have blooms on them… when I bought them I had no idea what size or colour they would be…

  
they are huge and purple… I was thinking they would be light blue so I am very happy…

  
the mandevilla continues to produce more flowers and buds…

ran across to the drugstore before work and picked up some AfterBite to deal with these mosquito bites… not sure if it is working that well…

this afternoon I wandered over to the Farmers Market and picked up some great items…

  
besides the great veggies I got some amazing tziki, some yummy cheese biscuits and a beautiful purple glass pendant…

ran into a friend on my way… great to spend a few minutes catching up… she and her daughter were just coming from the Market… she is an amazing person and we plan to meet at the hot dog cart on the corner one day soon…

had the eggplant and cucumbers as part of my dinner… tasty…

cleaning up my Contact list, came across a fabulous picture of a recently departed friend… she loved orange, which made me think of this picture I took this morning…

 I miss her…
