two storms during the night and the power was off… not sure for how long, but it came back on at 6 am… I know that because I heard what sounded like a car not starting… after a few minutes I realized it was the printer coming on line…

the sky was still quite angry…

when I got home had a beautiful view as I came out of the garage into the garden… even after an all-day overcast sky, the morning glories were smiling at me…

ended the very long week with a delicious treat… a bit of chocolate, almonds and two shortbread cookies from my stash, lol…

happy weekend;-)…

odd weather today… went from cloudy to sunny, to rainy, and back again a number of times… ended with sun shining through the clouds…

the poor morning glories took a beating early on… nearly every time it rained the drops were huge…

thinking of my dad today as I took hours to make fresh tomato sauce to go with some spaghetti for supper… I keep buying grape tomatoes to make caprese salad and then never use them all up… he would add all kinds of condiments to add flavour and it always ended up delicious… as I rummaged through the cupboard, I remembered watching him do the same thing, lol…

it turned out great and was a lovely treat as I don’t often have pasta… made some homemade coleslaw to go along with it and have a bit of both for lunch tomorrow;-)…

haven’t had any morning glories bloom for the last week…

so this morning I was happy to see two buds, although they weren’t open… I love how they unfurl from a tightly twisted centre…

I figured that they would open and then close before I got home after work…

was very pleased to discover eight blooms in the garden that were still open…

what a lovely surprise…

this morning as I was leaving for work I was looking for morning glories amongst the mandevilla…

not a single one, but took some nice pics of the mandevilla covered in raindrops…

it poured around five in the morning and that made for some pretty pictures…

sure am missing my camera;(…

yesterday when I was shopping I picked up an orchid…

I’ve been remembering times with my beloved a lot lately…

hot tubs and morning glories and orchids…

wonderful memories…

recently I heard someone ask if people believed in love at first sight…

the first time I met him I knew he was the one for me… and I was right, he most certainly was;-)…

so happy that the morning glories were saved…

while I was away my grandson came by a few times and watered them… they are in small planters so need lots of water…

I’d been waiting for them to flower for weeks and the first bloom only came out the day before I left on vacation…

they are blooming in and amongst the mandevilla which is also blooming like crazy…

flowers sure do make me happy…

three great things before I even left the driveway this morning…

a stunning sky… couldn’t really get a picture that showed how orange the sun was…

then as I was headed to the garage I spotted morning glory flowers… the first ones of the year…

while I was searching for more blooms spotted my neighbour and after checking in with him he shared cucumbers and tomatoes with me…

dropped them into the house, took one final picture of the morning glories and headed off to work…

pretty fine way to start the day…

wondering if the reason I’ve been missing my beloved so much lately has to do with the social media reminders of how difficult Julys have been for me…

he was always there to look after me…

eight years ago today I had a procedure which gave me pancreatitis and kept me in hospital for six weeks… my beloved came everyday and often brought photos of the morning glories that were blooming that day… this was by far the most painful health experience of my life and I cannot imagine how I would have managed without him…

six years ago in July I had surgery for cancer and to repair a hernia… he wasn’t there to support me for that one…

but I also remember the wonderful trip we had in July of 2011 when we went to Courtenay to visit the kids… we saw hundreds of classic cars, walked among the huge redwoods, went up the chairlift on Mount Washington and lived to tell the tale… anyone who knows us would know how afraid of heights we both were, and I still am…

a glorious time…

so amongst the dark times there were also some great times…

really, how blessed have I been…

then I went out and took a quick spin around the garden… got a few shots of flowers, although they are getting a bit irritated with the cold temperatures early in the morning…

been missing my beloved a lot lately…

tonight as I was looking through photos I came across a few that reminded me of him…

this picture of maple leaves, which I took while visiting Cyndi in Ottawa reminded me of a great photo we took in Courtenay of him holding a ginormous maple leaf as we were walking through Cathedral Grove…

on Saturday I turned on the in-floor heating because it is getting cooler… I can remember George installing it in 2009 when we renovated the bathroom… at the time we decided not to put an additional piece of it in front of the sink, thinking it would radiate over… not, lol…

this morning glory reminded me of my 2010 six week stint in the hospital where he brought me photos every day of one of the morning glories that were blooming…

tonight a contractor came by to fix a couple of holes in the bedroom ceiling… George would have fixed that…

and finally, this rose, blooming in the garden… I cannot even guesstimate how many roses he brought me in our life together…

I truly have been blessed over the years… and even now as I am able to enjoy these wonderful memories…
