have been enjoying a different view of the pavilion…

usually my photos are from the Duck Pond by the English Garden…

fun to see things a bit differently😊…

this morning, as I was looking at the obelisk filled with morning glories and cucumber vines, I watched a large bumblebee flitting from flower to flower…

I wasn’t able to get a photo of the bumblebee, but was very interested to see the pollen on the petals, after the bumblebee left each flower…

the water lily that had overwintered in the house had been nearly completely eaten by the fish, likely the three koi…
I divided the lily into two and put them in little pots and sank them to the bottom of the pond…
one has been pulled out of its pot and eaten…

the second one has finally begun to send up teeny tiny leaves…
pretty sure there won’t be any flowers this year…

great excitement the other day when I checked the giant tomato plants in the side garden…
I’d read that beans provide nitrogen, which tomatoes like so I planted them between the 3 tomatoes… then I also read that coffee grounds are good for tomatoes, so I dumped the weekly coffee grounds in there as well…
I think the tomatoes loved all of that, because they have grown huge… but, not a single flower was seen…

and then, I discovered numerous flowers on each of the plants… and even two marble sized tomatoes…
very happy, although there are very few beans coming along, lol…

I’ve been watching this little rose for a number of days… it was very close to opening…

when I went out this morning, the rosebud was no longer on the plant… but bits of it were on the table…

I’m guessing that a squirrel bit it off, and then didn’t even eat it🥺…
but it reminded me that I enjoy nature in the garden, lol…

for the longest time the deer were stopping by around 11 or 11:30 pm…
right now the feeders are empty because they have been gobbling up everything when they stop by…
for the last little while, they’ve been coming around 5:30 or 6:00 am… and the door camera has been capturing their visits…
apparently they continue to look to see if there are any seeds available for them…

up early on Wednesday to tidy the garden and water everything… even gave the new grass a dribble…
started with the hose and gave big drinks to all three pots in the front yard, and those in the garden…

then, while the irrigation system and drip hose did their thing, I filled a bucket with overly eager virginia creeper and did some deadheading…
finally, the cushions came out and I was able to sit, read, and enjoy the garden before it became unbearable outside…

I planted these morning glory seeds that my daughter sent to me from Ottawa as part of my Advent Calendar…
I didn’t read anything about them and envisioned they would grow up this obelisk…

apparently, they are dwarf morning glories…
and that means they don’t climb, lol…

went out to get a couple of pop-up laundry hampers for the monarch caterpillars…

hope they protect them from the birds…

so far I’ve spotted three, which is about the correct number for the amount of leaves on the milkweed plants;-)…

and I’m hoping that they might end up building their chrysalises in them as well…

a number of monarchs (or the same one numerous times) have visited the garden and stopped to snack at the ageratum…
unfortunately, none appeared interested in the milkweed…
I’ve been checking it for the last week, but have not seen any eggs…

yesterday, when I was inspecting the plants which had a number of holes in them, I spotted two tiny caterpillars;-)… only got one in focus, lol…

today, they have already grown a lot…
so excited to see them;-)…
wondering if I need to put the hamper net, which is currently covering the strawberries, over this plant, so the birds don’t get them 🤔…
