began with a hot tub in the sunshine… used it the very first time thirteen years ago on Mother’s Day, so it seemed like an excellent way to start the day…
after breakfast, I raked up some of the leaves… well, it took a good portion of the day, as there were many reading breaks… it is a bit early, but after cleaning out the pond, I wasn’t too thrilled with all of the leaves blowing into it, lol… they went into a paper bag and I am hoping that any critters living in them will be able to escape from said bag…
even though there is no birdseed out, the white-throated sparrows have been singing all day, as they, the house sparrows and the Harris’s sparrow I spotted, wandered the freshly raked grass looking for goodies…
I was contemplating bringing out the goldfish, but think I will wait for some help catching them, lol…
there were numerous phone calls as well as texts reminding me of the special people in my life…
to top it all off, a bunny came and sat with me for about fifteen minutes…
recently I came across a couple of pictures of cherry trees from April a number of years ago…
this first photo, which I took at the Filberg Festival in Courtenay, BC in 2011, won us a trip to Kingfisher Oceanside Resort and Spa to enjoy their Pacific Mist hydropath…
this photo was taken in New York, NY, in 2016… I think it was in Central Park..
cherry trees are just so beautiful, and clearly April is a blooming month for them;-)…
it is fun when memories remind me of special times…
today I spent most of the time in the living room, with the light on, as it has been raining off and on the whole time…
besides enjoying my book I’ve also watched birds and bunnies and listened to thunder roll across the sky…
there were chickadees and house finches and juncos… a squirrel has been trying to get to the feeder on the window and I kept rapping on the window to discourage it, lol…
across the street, three bunnies have spent a good portion of the day snacking on goodies in the grass… the rain has certainly melted most of the snow, so I guess new treats have come to light…
as I write this, there is even more thunder and now a bit of lightning…
this morning I received an email from the David Suzuki Foundation about Healing Forests…
forests are one of my favourite places and I had already been thinking of Cathedral Grove and the banyan tree in Lahaina on Maui…
as a matter of fact I chose a tree mug for my tea…
for years I have walked through a portion of the forest at Assiniboine Park on my way to the English Gardens…
after making a donation to the Healing Forests, I came across an IG Live as they were broadcasting a ceremony from The Bay where it was transferred to the Southern Chiefs Organization…
the project looks amazing and is supported by all levels of government…
I have always found forests, whatever their size, to be restorative and healing, so these two things that came to me on Earth Day made me very happy…
