I’ve been having trouble with my PVR for a few weeks…

it has been telling me that it was full and would delete things I hadn’t seen…

this has happened before and it had been difficult to get the problem sorted out so I wasn’t looking forward to calling them…

I waited until the Olympics were over because I didn’t want any problems while they were on… so that meant that every day I would have to stay up until I finished watching anything saved… made for some long nights…

I was pleasantly surprised with how well the interaction went… took about half an hour to get the process completed… the person on the phone was able to do most of the work from a distance, with me pushing a few buttons at my end…

so happy it is fixed… we will see if it does it again, lol…

got up at 5:30 am to watch the Olympics closing ceremony…

while I was cozied up in the bed, I could hear the furnace turn on and then off, and on and off, and on and off… I knew immediately what the issue was…

for the last three days we have been under a blizzard warning… I hadn’t thought that much snow had fallen, but I was wrong…

put on leggings, socks and my outer gear and went out the front door with a shovel and a straightened coat hanger… over the last years I have learned how to clean out the vents and be sure there is no snow inside them…

the snow was knee-deep in many places and I didn’t shovel, I just climbed through…

the vents weren’t visible except for a small hole where the exhaust vent was still blowing out air… the intake was under about eight inches of snow…

only took about ten minutes to dig them out… the snow was tossed into the middle of the driveway because there isn’t anywhere else to put it… did a quick swipe with the hanger and headed back in…

once I was in the house I could hear the furnace working… yay…

climbed back under the covers and watched the rest of the show, although about half an hour later my legs started to feel cold…

a number of months ago, on Mother’s Day, I had a tea-to-go from the Velvet Glove at the Fairmont Winnipeg…

it was delightful and the presentation was beautiful…

recently they posted on social media that they were having another for Valentine’s Day… I was quick to check with my grandson to see if he would be able to pick it up for me, and once I received his confirmation, I called and ordered it…

upon arrival it looked just as good as last time…

the sandwiches were delicious… I enjoyed each one, but my favourite was the cream cheese and cucumber;-)…

next were the desserts… little bites of delight…

the tea I had was Flora’s Berry Garden and there is some Earl Grey to have later…

it was lovely to enjoy this lovely lunch, watching the Olympics, as the snow was falling again…

I was so full, I couldn’t eat the last few bites of dessert, but I devoured them after supper, lol…

my beloved was a great romantic and special treats like this bring back so many wonderful memories of previous Valentine celebrations…

I have been, and continue to be, blessed…

the Olympics are on, the Olympics are on;-)…

I am so excited… I like to watch live if possible, so it means I am up at all times of the day and/or night, depending where they are happening… my days and nights are currently upside down…

retirement makes this much easier… when I worked, my colleagues knew I might be kind of groggy some of the time…

I like both summer and winter versions… although for these ones I am not that fond of hockey and curling (hard to believe I am a Canadian, eh)…

I really enjoy the skating, skiing and snowboarding…

and I always want everyone to do their best… such fun to watch…

not much is going to be happening around here for the next few weeks, lol…

February is going to flash by…

on Sunday night I slept for 8 hours…

now that the Olympics are over I can turn the tv off at night and get a great sleep…

well, I could have turned it off during the Olympics, but that just wasn’t in the cards, lol… I would slide in and out of sleep to watch whatever might be getting the announcer excited…

retirement has certainly made watching middle of the night events easier…

8 hours;-)… woohoo…

I love the Olympics and have watched them for years… I remember a trip we took once and how we had to have access to TVs at the end of each day so that I could keep up with what was happening, lol…

I like to watch in real time so that means reorganizing my sleep schedule to get the best results…

for these ones I couldn’t decide how I felt about them going ahead this year… but now they are happening, I am in… I usually get a Canada Day t-shirt and had purchased one a while ago, but on July 1st I decided not to wear it… as the games began, I put it on;-)…

on Friday I was up at 5:30 am to watch the opening ceremony and ordered McDonald’s for breakfast so I didn’t have to stop watching to make something…

at one point during the first day I was switching between tv channels and streaming on my phone at the same time and I considered turning on the laptop as well… in the end I decided the laptop would be overkill…

I have slowed down slightly… apparently I need a bit more sleep these days…

the great thing about streaming is that I can watch some of the sports that I enjoy most but which don’t always get shown on tv…

the surfing, gymnastics and dressage have been lovely to watch, even if not exactly as they happened…

I’ve even taken the laptop out into the garden so that I can enjoy the weather and not miss anything, lol…

so happy to be able to watch whenever and wherever… retirement is a lovely thing;-)…

spent some time this morning watching the Olympics… although there was hockey on for part of the time…

then it was off to PTE to see How the Heavens Go… on the way we stopped at Morden’s and I picked up a salted caramel dark chocolate, along with a few other items… the milk chocolate version was one of George’s favourites… it was six years ago today that we laid him to rest…

had also brought a few shortbread cookies that my friend had made for me after Christmas, which are in the freezer so I can have a treat now and then…

as I walked up the street on the way home, I had to stop and take this picture… the tree is so pretty even though it was gray out…

there are still many trees covered in snow… a number of my cedars have bent over branches and I am hopeful that they will recover…

up very early to watch the Closing Ceremony of the Olympics and then I went back to sleep for a while;-)…

when I finally got up the sun was shining and I took a few fun pictures… the reflection on the water lily installation, the glittering snow, and when we arrived back home, the interesting cloud formation…

this afternoon I met the kids at The Forks and we went for a walk along the River Trail to check out some of the warming huts… they are all interesting architecturally, but warming might be a stretch to describe them, lol…

the weekend sure makes watching the Olympics easier…

wake up around 4 am, watch whatever is on and go back to sleep for another few hours… rise and have a relaxing breakfast and watch what I might have missed earlier… nap if needed, and repeat…

I ate especially well today, as I knew there was roast chicken dinner on the menu…

breakfast smoothie and hard boiled eggs with shredded cucumbers for lunch…

ran out for a quick grocery shop and then back to the Olympics…

prepped the stuffing for the chicken and was sure to have enough to make stuffing muffins for my youngest grandson… they are his favourite, lol…

sadly, he wasn’t feeling well so didn’t have any dinner but he did take some home for later…

ended my day with a couple of shortbread cookies that a friend made for me and a small piece of dark chocolate… the cookies reside in the freezer and this was the first time I’ve had any… mmm, delicious reminder of Christmas…

now to watch the ice dance short program…

last night on my way home I picked up an iTunes card so that I could upgrade one of my apps, and now I have some more shapes to play with for pictures, lol…

enjoyed a quiet day watching Olympics and napping…

I did run over to Total Wrapture to have the shellac removed from my fingernails…

for some reason the beautiful white French manicure turned a strange shade of yellow/orange… the aesthetician had never seen anything like it… that’s me… special… although the polish didn’t chip, my nails do not feel great now that it has been scraped off…

the sunshine made me think it was warm out, but with the wind, it was rather chilly…

final other activity was to take some pictures of my flowers in the sunlight…

that yellow ball in the sky really does brighten everything up;-)…
