the sky is very menacing tonight…
the light is very strange…
from the back it looks like there is an orange visor over the sky…

from the front the clouds are very threatening…

think we are in for a big storm…

the kitchen counter looked rather sad because it was covered in stuff… I’ve been setting things that have come in the mail onto it to quarantine until I can open them, lol…
happily there were two packages filled with chocolate bars sitting there that had served their time… they were ready to add to my chocolate stash…
previously I’d been using two small plastic containers, but clearly that wasn’t going to work now… I searched through the house looking for the right size container and came upon an orange flower box which had held a flower delivery… how happy is that…

cleaned off the shelf in the cupboard which held the chocolate and some larger mugs and then reorganized… I moved the mugs to the back as I haven’t been using them much lately and then put the lovely orange box, filled with all the chocolate, towards the front of the shelf…

looks great and now it will be easier to get to…
of course I have to make sure not to eat too much chocolate… but now there is easier access…

three great things before I even left the driveway this morning…
a stunning sky… couldn’t really get a picture that showed how orange the sun was…

then as I was headed to the garage I spotted morning glory flowers… the first ones of the year…

while I was searching for more blooms spotted my neighbour and after checking in with him he shared cucumbers and tomatoes with me…

dropped them into the house, took one final picture of the morning glories and headed off to work…

pretty fine way to start the day…

took this picture of the trees out the back before I left the house…

reminded me of a colleague who we lost to cancer a few years ago… she and I had taken a photography course together and the picture was similar to one that I took at that time as part of our homework…
later in the day I was working on a computer and came across her name…
seemed rather serendipitous…
she had a wonderful artistic streak and a great eye… we worked well together and she taught me a lot… one of my favourite things was how she showed me to add a URL into a Facebook post and then delete the URL once the link had opened up so that the post looked cleaner… a little thing but it makes a huge difference…
a very special woman…

on the way out to the garage this morning I spotted orange…
the first two poppies were open… I was on a tight schedule but had to stop, get out my phone and take some pictures…
the poppies self-seed every year… such a welcome sign that spring is really here… many years there might only be five or six that bloom… the year George died there were probably forty…
amazingly, when I looked at my Facebook feed today, it showed an album from 2012 with pictures of many of the poppies… that was definitely the most we have ever seen in one year… felt it was as though he was with us…

first thing this morning I took a picture of the Mandevilla… it is a lovely shade of pink…
then I spent a bit of time putting a few new plants on the steps at the front of the house…
came out pretty nice… hope they last until the cold comes…
been noticing orange things as I remember my friend Susan… she loved orange… on my walks in the Park I have been drawn to the orange flowers… I’ve been working on a project and have noticed I’ve been gravitating to orange there as well…
missing my beloved lately as well… interesting how time can go by and then all of a sudden I miss him tremendously…
tonight the sky was beautiful again…
pinky orange, lol… amazing sunsets lately…
final picture tonight is one of the gerbers that are part of the bouquet from the kids…

so excited this morning because the second batch of morning glories have blooms on them… when I bought them I had no idea what size or colour they would be…
they are huge and purple… I was thinking they would be light blue so I am very happy…
the mandevilla continues to produce more flowers and buds…
ran across to the drugstore before work and picked up some AfterBite to deal with these mosquito bites… not sure if it is working that well…
this afternoon I wandered over to the Farmers Market and picked up some great items…
besides the great veggies I got some amazing tziki, some yummy cheese biscuits and a beautiful purple glass pendant…
ran into a friend on my way… great to spend a few minutes catching up… she and her daughter were just coming from the Market… she is an amazing person and we plan to meet at the hot dog cart on the corner one day soon…
had the eggplant and cucumbers as part of my dinner… tasty…
cleaning up my Contact list, came across a fabulous picture of a recently departed friend… she loved orange, which made me think of this picture I took this morning…

was another hot day… got up and was out of the house before 8 to go for a walk… didn’t want to be out there when it got really hot…
crossing over the bridge got a few shots of the barn swallows... in Ottawa they have just built houses for their barn swallows where they were doing some work on a bridge… apparently they are endangered there… not here, lol…
the English Garden had very few visitors but was filled with gardeners… they were working in every area… looks beautiful…
usually I am drawn to the purple/blue flowers but today I kept leaning toward the orange ones…
can’t even guess how many pictures I have taken of the water lilies in the Leo Mol Sculpture Garden… hundreds for sure… the tropical lilies are just starting to bloom…
got home, welcomed a new cleaning crew and went into the garden to be out of their way… mowed and whipper-snipped the back yard… did some weeding and watering… was dancing around on the deck and in the garden because the ground was soooo hot…
finally got to sit down in the shade… nice…
beautiful hot summer day… really enjoying my Mondays off…
30 Monday Mar 2015
excellent day…
met my grandson for lunch and had a good visit… we ran an errand before he headed back to the bus and home…
the sky was amazing as we left the office at the end of the night… sun through the clouds was lovely…
as I was driving home the sun was setting and it was beautiful…
got this shot while I was on the phone with my daughter…
the yellows and oranges were quite stunning…
and this…
pinks were lovely…
always amazes me how in just a few seconds the sky can change from beautiful shades to black…
