as the last couple of orchids are losing their final few flowers, I am watching four plants which have begun new buds…
two are quite a way along…
one is a bit further behind…
and the final one has just barely begun…
most of them are in the den, which is interesting, as I would have expected the ones in the front rooms to do better…
looking forward to the new flowers;-)…

I’ve been waiting patiently for this phalaenopsis orchid to open…
here it was on Friday…
Saturday…
and today…
it is beautiful and different from the other one that has been open for awhile…
in my mind I was thinking they might turn out to be the same, lol… but not;-)…
whenever I look at my orchids I always think of my beloved, who brought them to me all the time…

so happy to see new tiny buds on all of the orchids on the dining room table…
it was an exciting surprise to see the newest buds on the one plant that hadn’t had a new stalk…
looking forward to some blooms around Christmas…

had a great time with my BS buddies…
we gathered in two vehicles and drove to Rosenort for our 1 pm High Tea reservation at Lily Stone Cafe…
what a delight… we climbed up stairs, went down a narrow hall, and into a beautifully decorated room ready for our tea…
we just happened to get this space, but for a 20% gratuity you can book one of the private rooms for your group… no one wore gloves, but there were pearls, jewellery, and some fancy clothes, lol…
there were so many teas to choose from it took us a while to decide, and everyone enjoyed their picks…
then the tiered stands with a number of items for us to devour arrived, and devour them we did;-)…
they were able to deal with a food issue for one of us, and everything we ate looked lovely and was tasty… although it didn’t appear like a lot of food, we were all full once we’d cleaned the plates…
from there we drove a few kilometres to Lily Stone Gardens where we toured the Gift Shop and the one open greenhouse…
I found a beautiful white dahlia that is now sitting next to the tubers, which I hope will encourage them to get growing, lol…
the drive took just over forty-five minutes each way, and even in the rain and overcast, it was enjoyable… lots of conversation and laughter in both vehicles…
what a wonderful way to spend an afternoon;-)…

happy that I finally got a nice photo of the cute new little white orchids…
have had the plant for a few weeks now, but just couldn’t get a nice shot of a single bloom…
looks cute on the living room table along with the other new orchid and two little grape hyacinths which have just started to scent the air;-)…
and the new display in the table looks nice as well… some of my rock collection from Goose Spit with a few crystals thrown in;-)…

great excitement as I have discovered three orchids that are setting buds;-)…
this makes me very happy as January and February can be difficult months – usually cold and dull…
the one orchid which is blooming is sitting on the middle of the living room table and doing very well…

in the morning…

one of the great things about retirement is having the opportunity to watch as things unfold…
like this orchid which has been coming along nicely for a while…
yesterday at 8:48 am it was just starting to unfurl…
and at 1:55 pm it looked like this…
finally it was open at 9:14 am this morning…
and there is another bud;-)…

had some fun with my bouquet… it is changing… the orchid stalk was removed and now the carnations are getting ready to come out…
used the table from the hot tub, a purple sweater, and the purple wall to get a few shots…
it was fun to gather up the items and set up for the shoot…
and the photos came out quite well…
