wonderful relaxing day…
ate, read and napped…
watched some squirrels in the front yard…
it seems like they are everywhere these days… whenever I go for a walk I see lots of them…
and they are running around in the garden all the time…
caught one the other day eating a green pepper…
they can really jump when they want to get somewhere, lol…
but they are fun to watch…

in the last few days I’ve been to the Gardens three times…
twice I wasn’t able to get to my favourite spot as there were weddings taking place…
but the biggest oddity was the huge number of Pokemon Go hunters who are swarming the area around the tropical lily pond in the Leo Mol Garden…
at one point I counted 36 people sitting on the edge of the pond, and not one of them was looking at the lilies or statues…
did find this a bit sad… such a beautiful place and it seems as though many of those present weren’t even looking…
although there were many of the hunters, it appears that about half of the people today were there to admire the Gardens… I spent a while waiting for my kids by the Boy with the Boot and was happy to see so many visitors who were excited and taking lots of photos as they entered the English Garden area…
my youngest grandson and I were able to spot a few frogs…
and also had some fun checking out the Duck Pond…
he’s at a phase where he doesn’t want his picture taken but he didn’t know I was taking this one, lol…
and then his daddy gave a little assist for this one…
had a few minutes to focus on some beautiful leaves… the colours were amazing…
the purple waterlilies are still my favourite…
happy that my usual time to visit is early in the morning, when the Gardens are quiet and peaceFULL…

another sunshiny day although there were a number of clouds in the sky…
today we were on the boat again…
the little boys played on the tube a lot… they seem to stick to it like Velcro…
we also did some fishing… after about two casts my son-in-law pulled in a Jackfish…
not long after, that my daughter brought one in as well…
we didn’t keep them as this is not their best season, so they got tossed back into the lake…
we also perused another section of cottages on the lake… such fun to look at the variety along the shore and imagine who owns them and what the insides might look like… we especially like to see all the water toys along the docks, lol…
I love trolling as it is nearly the only time we move slowly on the water, lol… we found a section of the lake that is cottage free and beautiful to spend time in…
I was quite tired from all that water activity yesterday…
my son-in-law found wifi that we were able to purchase on a daily basis so we aren’t running around the campground trying to find a good enough signal to be able to post… today he also set up a charging station in my car… we have a lot of electronics that need charging, lol…
sitting in the campsite enjoying some quiet time as everyone else has gone fishing…
a beautiful setting for a great week of family fun…

wow, that was quite the storm…
it was excessively hot today and when we had lunch I only stayed out for a while because of the heat…
went shopping with my daughter after work to pick up the groceries for our camping trip…
the most I’ve spent on groceries in a very long time, maybe ever… my, that girl certainly has her daddy’s skill in packing as she loaded up the cart and then filled the boxes perfectly… George was an amazing packer…
then we raced home, trying to beat the black sky that was following us…
just as she finished repacking a box the thunder, lightning and raindrops started…
everything went dark and then the wind blew like crazy, and the rain poured down… about that time the power went off… crashes of thunder and lightning were wild…
now it is quiet except for the sound of fire trucks and the odd leftover bit of thunder…
always amazing how quiet the house/neighbourhood is when the power is off…

spent a very quiet day… well, I was quiet but not so much the air around me, lol…
the birds took turns in the garden…
three crows were on the roof of the house for a long time this morning while chickadees flitted back and forth between the feeders and cedars… both of these groups were vying to be the loudest, couldn’t decide who won…
I was busy checking out the tomatoes…
the cherry tomato plant is dripping with fruit, although they haven’t started to turn colour just yet…
but the bigger ones are starting to change… woo hoo… soon there will be some yummy eating going on…
can hardly wait… then the chickadees and crows were gone…
a bit later the sparrows came to the garden… they ate at all three feeders, flitted from tree to tree, had drinks in the pond and baths by the waterfall…
the pond looks so great with the rocks and plants in just the right places…
love the purple flowers on this little plant that is floating in an island…
read, watched and listened to the visitors and the waterfall, ate and napped… even got in some time on the treadmill…
later in the afternoon the rain started and the sound of it hitting the windows was rather peaceful…
haven’t spoken a word today, but have done lots of listening;-)…

came to my daughter’s house after work for a sleepover…
helped decorate cupcakes for the nine boys (ages 6 and 7) who came to the birthday party…
they were made to look like little bags of popcorn… very cute…
the theme of the party was movies…
hot dogs were eaten with French fries and ketchup and then they watched a movie in the basement, for nearly an hour, eating popcorn and candy… 
then they lost interest in that… the next treat was root beer floats… a large number of them didn’t like root beer, ice cream, candy or cupcakes… strange…
then there were presents… yay…
finally out came the cupcakes and happy birthday singing…
now, they are all gone… it is quiet…
we are recuperating…

spent the day around the house…
Saturdays are my usual rest day where I do very little…
today I cleaned out two cupboards in the kitchen… put some of the items in the pass-along pile and added some to a different spot…
packed up all the shells in the living room coffee table and put they away upstairs in the bedroom closet… now, don’t forget where they are, in case I do, lol… still haven’t found my originals which I packed up about a year ago…
had some fun choosing and printing pictures… until I ran out of photo paper… tomorrow going to make a run to Stapes…
watched a number of my PVRed shows in between the bits of work…
finally, spent a bit of time making some soup with pumpkin and acorn squashes… came out pretty good considering I didn’t use any type of recipe…

this morning there was a light dusting of snow on the ground… made me take this picture of one of the cute cushions I purchased this year…
throughout the day whenever I looked outside it was snowing…
when it was time to leave the office there was lots of snow to shovel off the car… the temperature was quite warm and the roads were very sloppy…
we stopped at the grocery store and picked up a few staples which was great because I hadn’t shopped on the weekend and had run out of veggies…
it is beautiful out… the world is white… it isn’t snowing right now but there is supposed to be more overnight…
only yesterday we had been talking about the amazing quiet after a snowfall… looking forward to that quiet when I get up in the morning…

been a very quiet Canada Day here…
it was overcast when I got up and then it started to mist… put out a box of pass-me-overs and made tea…
I saw this goldfinch come to the feeder a number of times throughout the day, once with the missus…

when I was out in the hot tub, he went to one of the feeders in the back corner of the garden… I also thought I saw two of them fly over the house… am wondering if maybe there is a baby boy in their life, although last year there were at least five pairs living in the area…
the grackles have been coming to the feeders a lot… this is very unusual, and they seem to be coming when it is raining… don’t have the heart to shoo them away because they also have a baby in their midst, although it is the same size as the parents, but lighter coloured and bushier…
watched tv, read a bit and napped… my legs are both stiff from the fall, but I don’t have any visible bruising… talked with my girls, and my son-in-law stopped by on his way home from work to stand up some plants in the pond… after my little fall yesterday, I was a bit nervous to get down close to the pond… who would save me if I fell in, lol… he counted four baby fish in the pond as well…
usually the kids would come over and we would watch the fireworks that go off at the Park, but no one was feeling that great and the weather has been rainy and overcast all day so they decided not to come…
spent a bit of time remembering all the gatherings on Canada Day on the front street as neighbours, friends and family would put chairs out on the road, make gallons of popcorn, spray everyone within an inch of their life with bug spray and oooo and ahhhh at the fireworks… some years they would be amazing, and other years not so great… the view is not quite as good now, as the trees have grown so they can interfere depending on where the fireworks have been set up… one year we went over to the Park to watch them and almost died of smoke inhalation, lol…
since talking with the kids the sky has finally turned blue, so I might walk out to the street when they start… or not… missing my beloved today…

was busy today… dropped Cyndi off to meet a friend for breakfast and we went to Best Buy to pick up a new printer because mine called it quits yesterday… perfect timing as Ron was here to help pick one out and get it all set up…
sun dogs this morning…
got a few great pictures of the sun dogs which were spectacular in the crisp morning air…
now I can print from the desktop, the laptop and even my phone… woo hoo…
we went for one last breakfast at “the A” before I went to pick up Cyndi… after a few errands we got home, made cookies, had a short nap and they packed up all their stuff…
stuffing the bags with all their goodies…
also got a few photos of their Jets gear, lol…
front and back of their jackets…
a quick early supper and some final visiting, and then off to drop them for their trip home…
came home to a very quiet house, tidied up and visited with two friends…
now off to bed… looking forward to a couple of quiet days before heading back to work…
