was surprised when we got home from voting to discover a row of mushrooms along the edge of the lawn…
they have a number of names – got this from Wikipedia:
Coprinus comatus, commonly known as the shaggy ink cap, lawyer’s wig, or shaggy mane, is a common fungus often seen growing on lawns, along gravel roads and waste areas.
when they are new, they are these adorable little white cylinders… maybe where they got the lawyers’ wig name…
then they turn into these rather not-so-pretty versions… the shaggy ink cap…
we’ve been working away at completing projects that have been started, but not quite finished;-)… I’m sure this doesn’t happen to anyone else, lol…
Wednesday, it was the back gate in the new fence…
the dirt was dug up under the gate area, two old concrete pads were discovered under a few inches of the dirt… they were removed and then some quarter down was laid, packed down, levelled, and new blocks put down, level with the lane… soil went into the spots on either side and some work on the slope up to the shed took place…
this is going to make the taking out and bringing in of garbage and recycling bins so much easier…
meanwhile the sky filled with threatening clouds, spots of sun, and then more of the “going to rain” cloud variety…
the project is not quite done, and just as we came in for lunch the wind went crazy and some rain started down…
this little red squirrel bounces around the garden like crazy, along with some other friends…
usually I don’t mind, but a few days ago I had to clean two chairs and a table from where their little paw prints covered everything, after the previous night’s rain, lol…
they are currently jumping onto the chair, then the table, and launching onto the bird feeder…
after wiping the chairs, I had to wait for them to dry before putting on the cushions… I’d cleaned up quite a bit of the mess, before I thought to take these photos…
on Friday evening I brought the lounger onto the deck and put a number of comforters on it…
Friday night…
then, once it was dark I headed out for my version of camping, lol…
had a pretty good sleep and enjoyed looking at the stars whenever I woke up during the night… and there were no mosquitoes;-)…
Saturday morning…
the weather looked good and that went so well that I decided to sleep out again on Saturday night…
around 4:30 am drops began to land on me😳, and shortly thereafter all of the paraphernalia was on the kitchen floor and I headed upstairs to my bed, lol…
it was early Wednesday morning and I was working on a newsletter job I have when the doorbell rang…
so excited to discover it was the hammock chair I had ordered…
I went out to the shed and dug around for the hammock stand that I already have…
with a bit of a struggle I got it together, managed to add the umbrella, and then hooked on the chair…
my neighbour found a big plastic bag for me that I will use when it is going to rain… it doesn’t say it can’t get wet, but I think it will last longer if it doesn’t get rained on…
I did sit in it for a few minutes, but will feel better when the screws (which I found in the garage) are into the bottom legs, lol…
