so pleased…

in January, 2020, after a visit with the kids in Ottawa, I put the paper towel roll away in the cupboard and began using cloth instead in an effort to reuse and not waste…

I replaced that roll in March of 2021… that was fourteen months…

yesterday I used the last piece from that roll… that is sixteen months;-)… doing better…

the old cloth napkins, face cloths and finger towels have worked beautifully and wash very well… and they were all extras that were in drawers around the house…

today I put a new roll in the cupboard and will see how long this one lasts…

I have been surprised at how easy the transition has been…

just a small change, but it makes me happy…

in January 2020 I decided to cutback on paper towel… I gave most of what I had away and only kept a few rolls…

I moved the one roll that was in the kitchen to the closet, so that it would be more difficult to get to…

I found a number of old towels and facecloths around the house and started using and reusing them… they sit on the microwave and when used go into a small bin that I have next to it, before heading to the laundry…

today I used the last piece from that roll and brought up another… wonder how long this one will last…

it is surprising how little you can use when you are thinking about it… next up will be the Kleenex…

got another batch of reusable tissues and had fun figuring out how to best set them out…

found a small Kleenex box, opened one end, folded the tissues over one another, placed them in the box, used double sided tape to close it, and popped the first one out;-)…

works perfectly…

then I dug out a small container to put the used ones into until they get washed;-)…

reuse…

last night I set my alarm for the first time in ages… Big Brothers and Big Sisters were doing a pickup of donations and I’d been gathering things for weeks…

had to turn on all the lights because it was so dark… went out to sweep off the step but the thin layer of snow was frozen, lol…

I moved all the boxes from the den closet onto the front step… took a while…

then I turned on the motion sensor for the front camera and had a cup of tea while I watched my morning news program…

good thing I got up early because they arrived just after eight…

happy to see things that I no longer need, but are in excellent condition, get to be reused ;-)…

smack…

I’ve collected all my egg shells since I read about using them to add nutrients to plant water…

they have to be crushed, but I was worried that if I used my food processor they might dull the blade, so decided to put them in a bag and use a wooden spoon to crush them…

the bag sits on the counter and every time I go by it I use the wooden spoon and smack it a few times…

kind of cathartic;-)…
