this magnolia seems to be blooming one or two buds at a time…
saw some beautiful trees filled with magnolia blooms in Courtenay, BC, more than fifteen years ago and I still remember how amazing the scent was…
unfortunately, this tree is too high up to be able to enjoy the scent, but it is lovely to spot new blooms…

such fun today when I was at The Leaf…
in the Mediterranean biome I took a few photos of the stunning magnolia flowers… there are two trees… one is high up and the second is one of the espaliered trees along the windows;-)… sadly, too far away to enjoy the scent…
when I was in the Butterfly Garden a friend decided to visit me and tickled my neck for a few minutes…
great day;-)…

yesterday I received a beautiful bouquet of hyacinths… I’ve never had them as cut flowers, always in soil…
what a lovely treat…
they are in a vase on the living room table and I am looking forward to them opening and scenting the house…

I am particularly sensitive to scents so the products I use are usually scentless – as much as possible…
lately I’ve been catching a hint of a scent as I walk through the main floor hallway…
it reminds me of pipe smoke, a scent that I have enjoyed as it makes me think of some very special people;-)…
but, I haven’t been able to figure out where it was coming from…
until today…
my housemate has a new bar soap and the scent is not in the bathroom, but in the hall…
it is very faint so was hard to track down… but I am always happy when I figure it out;-)…

it smells delightful right now in the living room as both of the hyacinths are blooming…
spent the majority of the day there so I could enjoy the scent;-)…
I am so happy to have flowers in these dark days of winter…

had a lovely walk on Tuesday;-)…
spotted lilacs everywhere I went, and enjoyed the scent…
and also saw a beautiful tree covered in white blossoms…
and finally spotted one of the mallard families;-)…

happy that I finally got a nice photo of the cute new little white orchids…
have had the plant for a few weeks now, but just couldn’t get a nice shot of a single bloom…
looks cute on the living room table along with the other new orchid and two little grape hyacinths which have just started to scent the air;-)…
and the new display in the table looks nice as well… some of my rock collection from Goose Spit with a few crystals thrown in;-)…

a year ago my daughter sent some gifts for a friend to drop off to me on January 1st…
amongst the items was a bar of charcoal hair shampoo… I have really enjoyed it and it is now a sliver, lol…
apparently the company may have closed, and the shampoo doesn’t appear to be available…
I went online and found something that might work, ordered it and it arrived last week…
not sure if it is going to work… it has a fairly strong smell so I have set it out on the window ledge in the bathroom and will see if the smell dissipates…
then I will try it on my hair and see how it goes…

I love the perfume that hyacinths produce, but it is very strong…
recently, I had company and knew that strong scents were difficult for them…
so I bagged both of the hyacinth plants to help dissipate the smell, lol…
they looked a bit funny but are now back in in the open and delighting me with the scent;-)…

today, as I was eating my cauliflower soup for lunch, I was thinking about my mom…
she loved curry… at that time it was not one of my favourites, but yesterday I popped some into the soup…
tasted pretty good and the smell certainly brought back memories of times with her;-)…
