enjoyed the sun in the garden on Saturday and had a visitor who brought cupcakes from High Tea Bakery…
we shared two of them and they were very tasty…
really, there is nothing better than spending time in the garden with a good friend;-)…

Christmas came on Monday…
my BS group gathered for lunch, a visit, and gift exchange…
we had a great time;-)…
everyone chose what they wanted for lunch and a few of the group picked up the order… we gathered around the dining room table and visited as we enjoyed our meal…
back in the living room we had cookies and coffee, and then shared our goodies;-)…
I am always amazed at the wonderful items that we each find or make for one other… none of us really need anything so it is fun to produce little things to share…
and usually there are donations to favourite charities… mine, this year was to Made with Love, which is helping feed the hungry here in the city…
we usually end with a group photo… technology tried to beat me, but in the end we got a few great pictures;-)…

this morning I remembered to put out the three boxes of pass-me-overs onto the front steps before I left for work…
different places call and check to see if I have anything and then I have to remember how to mark the boxes because each place has particular initials they want on them, lol…

an automated reminder phone call this morning had me digging through my closets looking for things to share…
sometimes it seems hard to declutter and other times it is easy… today was one of those easy days… filled two boxes and will put them out first thing in the morning…
later I took a walk to the Park to wander through the English Garden and the Leo Mol Garden… it had been overcast and rainy in the morning but the sky cleared up and there was a nice breeze…
the breeze got a bit crazy but eventually I made it to the Gardens…
the hydrangeas were beautiful…
the water lilies looked wonderful with the light shining on them…
the rose standards were almost done and I had to stand in front of this one for about five minutes to get a shot… the wind was really blowing, lol… shared a lovely conversation with a woman who was enjoying their perfume…
these lisianthus were absolutely stunning… I really need to plant some in my garden…
wonderful day…

got up a bit early this morning to be sure I got everything done before heading to work…
had four boxes for pick up by a local charitable organization… in the middle of the night I woke to the sound of rain coming down…
that meant I had to put plastic bags over the boxes so they wouldn’t get ruined sitting on the steps for a portion of the day…
took a bit of extra time to get that done so I was just finished when my ride arrived…
very happy with myself for getting these items pulled together and out of the house…
think the rain melted away lots of snow during the night and then the sun worked hard all day… couldn’t believe how much was gone when I got home…
the deck is almost completely cleared… maybe I will be able to sit out on the weekend… the temperature is often much warmer there than elsewhere in the yard…
Spring is really coming:-)…

Monday night I had dinner and spent time with my ReImagining friends…
it is always wonderful when we gather… we take turns hosting, some more than others, depending on our current situations… someone looks after the dinner and someone else leads our program… there are lots of hugs, deep sharing, lots of laughter, and often tears…
we had a lovely chilli with all kinds of toppings, salad, ice cream with chocolate sauce; checked in around the table; had a short program, and then we finished reading our book…
we lit candles in celebration of Candlemas and Valentine’s Day…

then we looked over a number of offerings for our next read…
we have moved from programs that were on a variety of topics, and took a fair bit of time to prepare, to simpler gatherings… the important thing is to be together and so recently we have been reading out loud and discussing guided questions… no one has homework, and we get done what we get done… often a simple question will take us off into a wonderful discussion of life… what insights we share…
these women have been part of my life for at least twenty-five years and provide a powerful sense of home when I am with them… after the last week it was very healing to be with them…
really, how blessed am I…

had a lovely evening with my ReImagining friends…
we have been gathering as a group every 4 to 6 weeks since 1993… an amazing group of women, we have studied, learned, struggled, laughed and cried together for twenty years… the group has been as large as 20 and as small as 6…
we gather at one of our homes, share dinner – which might have been homemade, but often is purchased – check-in and either have a program, read a book or watch a video, and then finish up with a discussion…
some of us are homemakers, some are business women, some are retired, but we all look forward to our gatherings… some very rarely get to be with us, but will still think of us when we are together…
the hands of the women who know my heart…
we have been reading an excellent book – Through the Woods: Making Sense of Your Spiritual Path, by Clark Saunders – and are nearly finished it… the sharing we do in the process is quite remarkable… we know one another very well and are not afraid to be honest and vulnerable…
on Monday we had a lovely homemade stew with wonderful bread to soak up the juice… and for dessert we enjoyed After Eight mints, strawberries and grapes… we almost always have some form of chocolate, a very important food group… what a treat to be able to spend an evening with such special people… being with them always reminds me of what a spectacular circle of friends I have…

we spent a bit of time talking about being in the moment, and reveling in that moment… that is often difficult to do…
I am looking forward to many special moments when I am with my children and grandchildren in Mexico and, more than ever, realize what a wonderful life I lead…

I made cookie dough Saturday night, and the actual cookies last night for my BS friends… we gathered tonight for our Christmas celebration… the five of us have met most Monday evenings for nearly 25 years… we have met in person, as well as by speaker phone… we have gone through life together, and have held one another up through various difficulties… we have also laughed and shared wonderful times…
it had been so long since I last baked that I couldn’t remember where the rolling pin was, but eventually I found it… I prefer making dinner to baking and since I no longer have to make cookies for school occasions for the girls, baking doesn’t occur around here very often… but, whenever I prepare food for people, whether it is soup, a dip, a main course, or even cookies, I spend the time thinking about the particular people who will be eating whatever it is I am making… I find it very satisfying to watch people enjoy the offering, knowing that I have taken special care to produce it…

tonight we ate treats, shared gifts around the circle, and enjoyed much laughter and love…
they were here the night the police came to the door to tell me that George had been in a car accident, and likely suffered a heart attack… one came with me to the hospital and the others closed up the house and went off to share the news and come to be with me… I do not know where I would have been without them that night… it was horrible and hard but having them around me was so comforting…
what if I had been alone, how would I have managed, who would have held my hand… they are my rock, my strength and they hold me up… no one knows me like they do…
what a gift that they were here… and that they continue with me in my new life…
