spent a bit of time this morning trying to find something green to wear for St. Patrick’s day…
apparently I do not have any green clothing, lol…
in the end I wore this beautiful scarf that my daughter brought me from her trip to Italy last year;-)…

yesterday I put up a photo on Instagram that showed my Japanese Maple just starting to leaf out… this picture below came up in my Google Photos today showing the same tree two years ago… made me laugh because it is so different, lol…
the good news is that it is starting…
and obviously, I should have put it up today, on St. Patrick’s Day, when we are all Irish;-)…
at the bottom of the tree, shamrocks have been growing since the first summer it went outside and the shamrock plant jumped into the pot…
it was fun taking the pictures;-)…

I have always celebrated every event that came along: Christmas, Easter, Valentine’s Day, Halloween, Canada Day and St. Patrick’s Day…
when the girls were little, I’d make cookies for them to take to school… made a lot of cookies over the years…
for the last while I haven’t felt quite as enthusiastic about these special days…
maybe I’ve made my last cookie, lol…
today I had a green smoothie, even though I usually make eggs on the weekends…
for lunch I had zucchini-basil soup with the cutest bunny-shaped cheese pretzel from La Belle Baguette…
I also had fun taking some photos of the shamrocks growing in the Japanese Maple pot…
for supper, made green eggs and ham;-)…
came out very tasty;-)…
no fancy decorations, no cookies… just green food all day long…
hope your St. Patrick’s Day was just what you hoped for;-)…

had a wonderful day…
began with making my favourite zucchini basil soup for tonight’s dinner…
took the time to take pictures of each step in the process…
turned out great… as I worked on each step I thought of the people coming for dinner and how lovely it will be to see them and spend time together…
the hardest part of making this is finding the basil and zucchini at the same time… much simpler in the summer, lol…
had the screen door open as I was working on the soup… was so beautiful, decided to eat my lunch on the deck and read for a bit… the sun was so warm…
set the table and went for a walk…
planned the dinner with St. Patrick’s day in mind, thus the green soup, lol… enjoyed preparing it as I don’t do much entertaining these days…
made a huge garden salad and shredded a bbq rotisserie chicken to go along with the soup and some fresh bread… the salad reminded me of my beloved’s wonderful salads… have not been able to recreate them…
also set up our conversation spot to focus on lean-to/support to go along with a program one of the group had sent everyone…
took the last few minutes before their arrival to sit and relax…
dinner was enjoyed by everyone, and we had some thoughtful conversation…

St Patrick’s Day… all about green…
wore green clothes and took a green treat for my colleagues…
was talking with someone about all the steps you have to go through when someone dies…
still wondering how you find someone who knows what you need to do… it felt like I bumbled my way through the process and luckily made it without any huge mistakes…
the list of what to do from the Funeral Home covered a few of the things that had to be done, but was certainly not complete for my situation…
so much of it had to do with another green thing – money…
felt like every organization I was in touch with wanted some…
insurance companies that wanted specific information which had to come from the doctor and which had to be paid for… Land Titles, who needed me to pay them to change the registration of the house… the leasing company that required a safety check so that the car could be put into my name… and so on…
when someone dies, a lot of green gets used up…

yesterday Tavin coloured a picture for me but didn’t want to give it to me… this morning he went and dug it out from where he had hidden it and gave it to me…

then he proceeded to organize all the pictures on the fridge…
we had a lovely brunch with some of Crystal’s friends and the boys were very excited to feed the horses… the horse was very delicate, and only took one small bite of the carrot at a time… the pony took the whole carrot and dropped it on his side of the fence to eat at his leisure…

we went shopping for Crystal’s birthday present… once I got home I had a bit of a rest and watched some TV as my tummy hasn’t been feeling fabulous…
it has been overcast, snowy and windy for most of the day and apparently it will be like that tomorrow as well…
I am off to bed, thinking how George would have enjoyed the brunch this morning… like the boys, he loved bacon…
