so far this evening I’ve been to a soccer game… after the game there were treats…


partly because he said that grandma must be about 50… seemed like that deserved ice cream, don’t you think…

a skatepark…

where the new scooter was tested out at last… he got it way back yesterday… he also had his BMK for a bit of variety, lol…


the soccer player was doing great on his bike… it was late in the fall when he actually started to ride…

it sure is wonderful to be able to attend their events and get to see them having fun…

ran home at lunch, was picked up, taken back to the office and picked up at the end of the day… then, when we arrived at their house, supper was waiting for us… what a treat… another example of how blessed I am…

I sure miss having my beloved look after making a meal, and arriving home to the lovely odours of food cooking…

time for a new page on my Chihuly calendar…


a nice one… looking forward to visiting the installations at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens in a few weeks…

gardens are such fun to visit and take photos in… amazing to me how many places I have travelled to in the last four years…

the other thing I took time to take a photo of this morning was the new stem and buds on the October orchid that I picked up from IKEA… the last blossom just fell off on Monday… I’ve had it since October… longest blooming orchid I have ever had…


seems like many of those in my extended circle are struggling with health issues… 

keeping them in my thoughts during these difficult times…

up early and enjoyed time in the hot tub… missing my beloved today… not always sure why it is more pronounced some days, but have learned to just feel my way through it…

happily was able to meet the kids for brunch… really miss them when we can’t get together on the weekend…

before I left the house I took some pictures of various blooms…


these are the last two flowers on the orchid which came from IKEA in October… was so thrilled to see a new stem starting with tiny buds on it…

then I moved the mandevilla and mini roses to the dining room table, where the light shone on them nicely…


decided to start walking to the restaurant and meet the kids on the way… lots of yellow flowers happily growing everywhere I looked, lol…


also saw quite a few blooming bleeding hearts on my walk…


once we got home took a few shots of the boys…

while we were visiting, my daughter spotted these feathered friends at the feeder…


very exciting… maybe the weather is going to warm up and we will see more of them…

ended the day with a phone call from my Ottawa daughter…

family is so special… happy to have opportunities to spend time with them…

been thinking of my mom…


for the majority of our lives we did not do well together… she wasn’t able to mother my brother and I due to illness… not sure I understood at the time…


we connected much better during my adult years, and had an extraordinary four months at the end of her life as we travelled her final journey together… 


I was fortunate to be with her every day during that time and learned so much about her… we came to be good friends… 

such a difficult time, but also a blessing…

it appears that Mother’s Day has gone from a day to treat your mom, to a weekend, even week, of excess… all I want is time with my children…

these days, with all this hype about Mother’s Day, I am thinking of all those who don’t necessarily get along with their mothers… or those who mother people but are not considered mothers… 

life is short… give someone a hug… you never know what tomorrow will bring… besides, it feels good;-)…

woke up with a start in the middle of the night… someone was outside yelling… stopped after a couple of minutes, but took a while to get back to sleep…

not sure how I feel about the time change… 

  
the good news is that my new bedside clock changes the time by itself, like my phone and tv… now if my watch would just learn to do that!

the kids picked me up and we went shopping at Costco, where I picked up another few Christmas presents… 

then out for dimsum, at my son-in-law’s suggestion… apparently dimsum is growing on him, lol… 

  
the oldest grandson took the bus from home and met us there… and he got a table just as we arrived… although I did miss watching the fish in the saltwater aquarium… 

we finished everything on the table… usually we end up with a few things to pack up and bring home… the little boys are eating enough that we don’t need to order rice for them… lots of positive changes…

stopped and shopped at a few more stores and then home… 

lovely barbecued steak for supper… kids got a few new CDs onto my phone and then they headed home…

was very happy yesterday to find this new cover for my soap container so I could change it up…

this morning before I left home I got a shot of my little caterpillar friend… a slow mover who is starting to get a bit bigger… really loves the parsley which is mixed in with the morning glory…

  
there are a number of insects that I don’t care for, but caterpillars, butterflies and dragonflies are not on that list… 

also took a picture of the mandevilla which is covered with blooms… so pretty…

  
not too many flowers on the morning glory… but gorgeous…

  
as I drove into the driveway, had to stop and take a picture of the dragonfly sitting on the garage…

 

wonderful to have and take the time to see what’s going on around me…

today was the first day of my .9 time, so I was home…

was looking forward to running a few errands, maybe even working in the garden… but woke up to this…

  

really!!! and it was cold and windy…

got dressed and was ready to head out but then decided that I didn’t really need to run those errands…

 

so, I took off those clothes, stayed abed and watched tv all day… 

warmed up a lovely dinner of last night’s leftovers…

had tea with one of my BS buddies, and climbed into bed…

it was nice to do nothing after the busy weekend of birthday activities…

time…

had a wonderful time with a dear young friend… supper out and I did very well I think…

I headed to the restaurant early and sat, by myself, for half an hour… felt very calm and relaxed during that time… had a cup of tea and read emails and checked out Facebook… for my entire adult life I have only ever eaten out twice on my own or spent any amount of time alone in a restaurant… actually I would have rather gone hungry than sit in a restaurant by myself… so, this felt like a very positive thing…

checked out the menu and chose my dinner based on the least calories of the items I liked…

had baked chicken wings…

  

and the most delicious spinach salad…

  

after a great visit I drove home in the daylight...

then, to top off my big girl pants activities for the day, I fixed the time on the clock in the car…

  

had been waiting for my son-in-law to come over to fix it but decided I would give it a try… obviously it was pretty easy…

those big girl pants fit rather well today…

before I left home this morning I wound the clock…

usually I can tell when it needs winding because it starts to ring and chime rather slowly…

  

I try to keep it going most of the time… 

except when my kids are staying here… then, I have to stop it so the chiming doesn’t make them crazy, lol… I don’t hear it at night but for others it is quite disruptive to sleep patterns…

it belonged to my parents and it was one of the things I brought home so it has been on that wall for over twenty five years… guess that’s why I don’t always hear it…

was able to take the time this morning to catch a shot of the sky…

today I ran across the street to have a few batteries replaced… one was for the garage door opener and the second was for my camera remote control…

happy about the remote for the camera as it was getting difficult to take a picture without pointing the remote straight at the camera… fairly easy to see I was using it, lol…

the camera does have a timer on it but I haven’t used it much…

while I was there I spotted a cute watch and decided it was just what I needed… and, it was on sale… amazingly, it is purple…

thankfully the owner was able to set it for me… it did cause him a bit of trouble as the watch was feeling a bit nostalgic for the 24 hour clock…

checked the time tonight and at six there was still light outside… this is very exciting…
