had the most delightful day with my grandson…

we had breakfast at one of our favourite places, ran a few errands and spent six hours at Thermea…

went in when it was light, and left in the dark…

today was the first time I’ve had a massage there and it was lovely… I like the Swedish, gentle, ones… my grandson had the deep tissue one, lol… I think he might be bruised, but he was happy…

then it was on to the thermal experience… even the Polar pool a few times… we attended an Aufguss ritual, spent time in nearly all the saunas, sat by the fire, enjoyed both pools, had supper and spent more time in the cool pool and hot tub…

just like his mother, aunt and grandfather, he can find people he’s met before in any place he goes;-)… and had a lengthy chat with them…

what a wonderful day it has been… on our way home he treated me to a Dairy Queen ice cream cone – one of my favourites ;-)…

yesterday I received a message that some flowers were coming my way…

I spoke with the florist who advised they would arrive before end of day…

but then, 6 pm came and went… they usually close at that time, so I figured there would be no flowers…

around 7:30 they arrived… still wasn’t sure who was sending them…

they were well wrapped because it was cold outside…

opened them up to discover a beautiful bouquet of orchids, roses and carnations…

they were from a Toronto supplier I had worked with over the last ten years…

a lovely surprise…

woke up this morning thinking of my beloved… he’s been gone for seven and a half years, and I miss him every day…

I try not to use the same photos in more than one medium, but this is one of my favourites, so I am sharing it broadly…

he would have been 71… in his honour I made bacon and eggs over easy for breakfast, lol…

put on a purple plaid shirt and jeans… he was always in jeans and had a favourite plaid shirt that he often wore…

after a busy day, my grandson met me at work, we ran a few errands and had dinner out…

ended our meal with apple crisp and ice cream… my beloved made the best apple pie;-)…

lovely day filled with happy memories…

had a delightful afternoon with a dear friend…

she makes decorating for the season so much fun… both of us are team players and we work well together…

we did some of the usual set-ups and then tried something new… we hung a collection of wreaths together on the wall… looks good…

I can’t even say how many collections I have… more and more I am bringing out less and less… I think that January and February might be a good time to go through the boxes and pass many items along to others…

the living room looks lovely and spending time together brought out my holiday spirit;-)…

went for a pedicure with a great friend who I hadn’t seen in quite a while…

it was lovely to spend time together and catch up on one another’s goings on…

when I first started getting pedicures they were very difficult as my feet are sensitive and it was hard to sit through all the cutting, filing, and pushing that is part of the process…

recently that hasn’t been a problem, but this time one foot was just so sensitive that I could barely stand the process…

my esthetician rewarded me with an extra long massage when it was all done;-)…

and I have pretty toes again…

last night I had dinner with a trio of special women, two of whom I just met, lol…

I had soup and five mini crab cakes with roasted garlic mayo, apple salad and mixed greens… very tasty… everyone else had scallops…

after a relaxing meal we travelled to the Cirque du Soleil tent on Kenaston to see Amaluna…

it was excellent… I’m always amazed at the flexibility of the performers and what they can make their bodies do… it was also fun to see a performance under the big top, which reminded me again of my first time at Cirque du Soleil in Montreal many years ago;-)…

a wonderful treat…

met a wonderful dear woman for a pedicure recently…

we haven’t had an opportunity to visit for ages, so it was fabulous to have time together… we worked together for a few years and clicked instantly… she made my life so much better…

we both chose shades of purple for our toes and then were treated to excellent service by our technicians…

so blessed to have the opportunity to spend time with special friends… life is good…

since my diabetes diagnosis I have tried to stay away from bread except for rare occasions…

today I made a tomato sandwich on a mini olive ciabatta… the only other thing on it was Miracle Whip…

I picked up the bread yesterday and had a tomato from our CSA box this week…

it was a delicious treat…

reminded me of all the wonderful tomato sandwiches that my beloved made for me over the years… took the longest time to realize the reason they were so delicious was the amount of Miracle Whip slathered on them, lol…

last night I got to watch my son-in-law and oldest grandson play soccer…

my son-in-law recently joined a mixed league… they were playing last night and this was my first opportunity to watch him…

the team needed a spare so my grandson came to play…

such fun to watch the dad, who has coached a number of the boys’ teams, actually on the playing field…

I really enjoyed seeing them play together… what a treat…

yesterday turned out to be quite a fun day…

instead of laying on my bed and watching tv all day I went out with a few friends…

on our way to St. Norbert Farmers’ Market we stopped at La Belle Baguette for some bread…

I haven’t been to the Market for years… it has certainly grown and improved… there are more makers and the main covered building is wonderful… while we were there it poured for about five minutes, and we were under the canopy the whole time…

after an entertaining time there, we went out for lunch… the sky was a bit foreboding and all of a sudden it poured… for another five minutes… by the time we got to the restaurant it had stopped;-)…

great fun… finished the last bits of that lunch for tonight’s supper…
