up and out of the hotel for a 6:15 am pick up to go deep sea fishing…

from the time we left the marina we saw a school of catfish, pelicans, a huge iguana way out on the limb of a tree, a beautiful blue heron, seagulls riding on turtles, a pair of dolphins and more turtles than I can count… a marlin and a sailfish, which did not want to bite on any of the hooks we had in the water… 

and to top it all off a whale spouting and then showing us its full tail…

a glorious day on the water… 

there was blue sky, fog, sun and gentle seas… 

technology wherever you go…

sun starting to peak through the fog…

we all love being on the water but had hoped that my son-in-law would have had the fun of catching a marlin…

 here fishy, fishy, fishy…

waiting with my son-in-law… and getting sunburned feet, sigh…

as I was taking pictures of a very calm pelican, at the back of the boat the boys were throwing the leftover bait to a huge crowd of waiting pelicans, lol…

we ended up walking for a while on our way back to the hotel and came across some sunning iguanas…

how blessed to be able to spend an unforgettable time with family…

seemed to do a fair bit of waiting in my travels today…

started at the doctor’s office as I waited for my quarterly appointment to stay on top of the diabetes…

didn’t have to wait long and the report was good… my A1C has stayed the same and blood pressure was excellent…

then I dropped in at the Chamois because Shadow was so dirty you couldn’t tell what colour she was…

picked up a small bottle of de-icer just in case the doors wouldn’t open, although with the remote to open the locks, maybe that isn’t a problem… just remembered that George always carried some after he had the car washed, lol…

then I stopped at a store I wanted to go to… it wasn’t open so I went into the Subway next door to have a cup of tea and wait…

had big girl pants on as I sat there all by myself, calmly drinking tea…

this is a very big deal as just five years ago I would have sat and waited in the car… not a chance I would have gone into a restaurant on my own…

in the afternoon I went for a pedicure with a dear friend… we sat and waited for our aestheticians to collect us…

happy that the sandals are hard to spot, lol…

after our fun visit and relaxing foot work – we both had the paraffin treatment on our feet, and I even had my hands done – 

we waited for our nails to dry…

and then I walked to the car with these lovely flip flops on…

final bit of waiting was for the chicken and dumplings to cook for my dinner…

now to rest;-)…

yesterday a parcel arrived at the office with my name on it…

it’s from my daughter in Ottawa… she said I couldn’t open it until my birthday on Saturday… seems fair because I won’t have many presents…

now I’m waiting…

today when I got home there was a cute purple orchid on the table with a note saying Happy Almost Birthday… my Winnipeg daughter had dropped it off sometime during the day…  

and in the mail was a card from another friend… 

beside the card you can just see the edge of the parcel…

I am indeed blessed… even if I do have to wait…

everyone is tired and ready for bed…

now, if only the little people would go to sleep…

as we left the house to spend the night with the kids, I took a few shots of the spiral tree on the front step…

now we are waiting… for Santa…

earlier today I was thinking about how busy our Christmas eve’s used to be… running around picking up the last few bits and pieces for gifting, or doing set up so that everything would be ready in the morning…

today I waited for the Ottawa kids to arrive, and then spent time preparing food for tomorrow’s dinner…

in this season of peace, love and joy, I wish you and yours time with those you love and the opportunity to enjoy each of those moments…

seems like I’ve done a lot of waiting for the last while…

waited for my ear infection to go away… and to be finished with those drops, euwwwww…

waiting for the pond to be working properly… my pond guy replaced the pump with a smaller version as the manufacturer felt the uv filter was causing a problem and they needed a smaller pump… that was a week ago Saturday… last Wednesday I noticed that the water was barely running and on Thursday morning turned off the pump as there was barely a trickle… hoping my guy gets here before it freezes… looks like we will still be dealing with this in the spring…

IMG_8541.JPGwaiting to hear from the foundation people… I understood they were planning to do the work on my foundation the first week of October, so I am wondering when I will hear from them… particularly as the weather is getting colder every day… and there has even been a suggestion that we might be getting flurries…

waiting for the stove to have its new top and the fridge to be in the right space and have all the doors on, lol… think my boys will be coming by one evening this week to finish this up…

going to focus on these beautiful flowers instead of all that waiting stuff…

happy to get back to work today…

was sharing with one of my colleagues about our trip home…

it started out with our being at the main lobby of the resort waiting for our bus at 6:40 instead of 7:20 am…  so we got to sit around a visit a bit…  once we got to the airport, we had a problem with the airline person not understanding what we were checking for the flight and what was carry-on… then we breezed through security and had breakfast at Johnny Rockets… it was about this point that we discovered that there was no water in any of the washrooms in the airport… our flight wasn’t for another couple of hours…

we had been directed to one gate, but after waiting there for quite a while discovered it wasn’t the correct one, so after speaking with SunWing staff at another gate, moved to a third gate and eventually that was the one we left from… we were really glad to get on that plane, which was late…

when we arrived in Winnipeg we were very happy, and again went through Customs with no problem, found our limo and headed home…

all pretty humorous now, lol…

spent much of the day finding, sorting and putting up decorations…

while that was going on, someone from the cable company was in setting up PVRs on the TVs… he had lots of questions about where the cables ran, what computer was hooked up to the system, etc, etc… I was amazed at what I remembered about how George had done the set up and where all the wiring was… that was bittersweet, because it made me miss him more…

during the time he was working on that, I was cleaning the stained glass nativity figures that George made 4 or 5 years ago… they hadn’t been out for a few years

but I came across them while pulling out other Christmas “stuff”… sadly the cow has lost a leg, the bird on her back has fallen off, and the donkey is missing the piece that helps him stand… I will have to see if I can find someone to fix them for me … those darn big girl pants…

midway through all of that fun, the Norfolk Pine, which I had bought and decorated instead of bringing out our usual tree, fell over and a number of the ornaments broke… that was just as my son-in-law and grandsons walked in… it was a busy time sweeping up the broken glass and trying to keep the boys away from the mess:-)…

next thing I knew everyone was gone, and I was alone… I miss having George there to discuss all the busyness of the morning… he would have gone out and got the groceries, picked up the last minute items for Christmas and maybe brought back lunch for us… sigh… I know that I am going to be fine, but the season is bringing lots of memories with it and some days those memories seem sadder than others…

it’s been one of our (shall we say, my) traditions to put the various participants of the nativity in different places around the room as they travel toward their destination… as times goes on they get closer together and eventually all land in the same spot…  I will miss George checking to see where they might be, but will make sure that the little boys understand the journey this year, and maybe they will be the ones to check the movements when they come to visit…
