Wednesday is watering day and it is a treat to wander around feeding the various plants… currently they all reside on the main floor in different rooms…
I enjoy taking the time to remove dead leaves, watch for new flower buds, turn them as needed, and move them around as they (and I) need…
and, of course, chatting with them the whole time, lol…
spent the first part of this morning watering everything…
while the irrigation system was looking after the veggie patch and pond garden, I used the rain barrel at the front to water the planters out front…
I’ve been lazy and have been using the hose most of the time, but I did enjoy using the rainwater from the barrel… and I’m pretty sure the plants were happy;-)…
we had a wonderful time away, but it is always lovely to return home;-)…
after everything was unloaded, the first thing I did was check out the garden… it looked good, other than the veggie patch in the side garden… it may have got missed in the watering schedule, lol… both of the tomato plants looked dead…
got out the hose and gave everything a good drink, and then I sat on the deck with a cold drink and my book… sigh…
although the tomatoes looked dead, the water revived them and they look 100% better…
had a hot tub and sat outside reading until it was too dark to see;-)…
Wednesday is the day I water my plants… I have quite a few, lol…
I combine tap water with some banana skin water and wander around the living room, dining room, kitchen, bathroom, and den, with constant trips to the kitchen to refill the watering can…
I have had this watering can forever and have repaired the handle a few times as I enjoy the feel of this one…
seeing all of the blooms on the African violets and orchids, and the lovely purple anthurium blossom brings me so much happiness and makes me smile…
and currently, there are the seedlings that need attention as well…
it is quite a meditative experience and I enjoy the weekly time spent doing this…
Friday’s project had been to get the little irrigation system I purchased last year installed…
I read through all the instructions, watched a video, and gave it a shot…
a number of weeks ago we had attached the main hose and run it about halfway, so I finished laying it out so that the newly planted ferns will also get water on a more regular basis…
then I started fastening the feeder hoses… I started with the hanging baskets and then moved on to the perennials in the bed…
connecting the feeder hose to the main hose involves punching a hole, with a very handy tool, and then pushing the connector into the main hose…
this was the difficult part and my thumb took a beating… eventually I stopped because it was becoming painful…
for sure I won’t be working on it for a few days, lol…
was wandering around watering the plants and had a lovely surprise…
usually I water on Saturday but was a bit behind so got to it this morning… was pleased that the paper whites have a couple of buds developing…
was at the mandevilla which has an orchid beside it – usually I keep the orchids for a year or two once they are finished blooming and then end up replacing them…
